Abstract

Glyricidia sp. is a  considerable potential legumimous tree as a source of  goat feed. The leaves contain a  high protein, and expected to improve the reproductivity of livestock. This study examined the effect of Glyricidia leaves concentrat supplementation on local goat reproduction  in postpartum period.  Twelve 2 to 3 years old female local goats with average initial body weight of 23,08 ± 1,68 kg were used in this study.  The animal were placed randomly for  feeding, and  four replicate treatments were applied:  R0 = Concentrate 0% BW + Glyricidia spad-libitum; R1 = Concentrate 0.5% BW + Glyricidia sp ad-libitum; R2 =  Concentrate 1.0% BW + Glyricidia sp ad- libitum. The variables measured were dry matter intake (DMI), average daily gain (ADG), length of estrous, and pregnancy rate. The data of DMI, ADG, and length of estrous were analyzed using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) one way classification. If  significant differences among treatments occured, the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test was performed. The difference in pregnancy rate were analyzed using Chi-square. The results showed that the dry matter intake, average daily gain, length of estrous and pregnancy rate to female goats were significantly higher in concentrate supplementation of  0.5%  and 1.0% BW than without  concentrate supplementation. On the other hand,  between concentrate supplementation of 0.5% and 1.0% BW did not differ significantly. Keywords:Concentrate, Gliricidia sp, performance reproduction, postpartum period, local goat

Abstract

This study was aimed to obtain information and at the same time comparing the value of Break Event Point (BEP) of farm chicken of the two systems maintenance carried out by the people of Tulungagung, i.e: extensive and semi-intensive systems.The analysis based on two value of BEP: 1). BEP revenue  and 2).BEP of egg production per month.A survey method was applied inthis research. The location determined by purposive based on the level of the chicken ownership. Research units were chicken farmers, while research objects werechicken farm. Sampling techniques forfarm chicken was bussiness  respondents  with extensive system was based on quota sampling technique,while for semi-intensive system based on the total sampling technique. The number of respondents of an extensive business system as much as 167 respondents, while the semi-intensive business only 2 people.The average number of chickens from extensive business as much as 9 chickens (7 females and 2 males), while for semi-intensive businesses as much as 428 chickens (400 females and 28 males).The results showed that the value of BEP revenue of  extensive business  was Rp 2.503.3, while for semi-intensive business  was Rp 1.737.818.  The BEP value of egg production  for extensive business system was 2 eggs, while for semi-intensive businesses system was 1.069 eggs.Based on theBEP analysis, both bussiness systemswere beneficial, guarantee and feasible to be developed. Abstract

The research aims to determine the influence of rice bran and forage given to growth of male Timorensis deer. Four head deer used with a range of the age 4 – 10 year and body weight of 30 – 70 kg. The Latin Square Design was implemented with four treatment and four replication. The treatment were P0 = forage without rice bran  (control), P1 = forage + 150 g of rice bran, P2 = forage + 300 g of rice bran, and P3 = forage + 450 g of rice bran. Forage used as basal rations was Gajah Grass (Pennisetum purpureum), Sulanjono (Herochloe horsfieldii Max.), Kaliandra (Calliandra calothyrsus Meisn) and Gewor (Comellina mudiflora L.).  The four forage were added by rice bran as concentrate. The forage was given as many as 10 % x body weight x 2. The research was carried out  for 60 days  divided into 4 (four) periods, each of them consisting of a preliminary period of five days followed by 10 days of data collection. The parameter were feed measurement, morfometric measurement of deer, body weight of Timorensis deer. The result showed that given forage added by rice bran 450 g (P3) significantly influencedto the growth of of maleTimorensis deer, with growth range of 1.55 cm/day. Abstract

The research was carried out to determine the income influence of the beefdemand  as well as the relationship between income and beef demand for three months.The methods used in this study were survey and interview. Collected data consisted of primary and secondary data. Research location gradually determined by multistage random sampling technique, while the determination of  sampling respondents was by systematic sampling technique.The analysis modelswere Cobb Douglas multiple regression analysis for analyzing the income effect on the beef demand, and correlation analysis for determining the relationship between income andbeef demand.The results showed that the income affects the beef demand, and there was a close relationship between the income and beef demand. The increasedincomeas much as Rp. 154,290.13, - would increase the beef demand as much as 732,312.85 kg. Keywords : Income, Demand , Beef.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the amount of family working time of goat farming as well as the influencing factors.  It was conducted  in the District of East Palu. Sampling locations and respondents were determined by purposive sampling based on the highest number of goat. A total of 40 respondents were selected from two villages. The collected data were analyzed using Ordinary Least Square (OLS). The results  showed that the amount of working time on goat farming  were 193.39; 102.32; 58.93 of working days equivalent to man per year for husband, wife, and child respectively could be substituted each other. The goat farming became the main occupation  from farmers working time point of view compared to other work that as a source of family income. Factors that have affected the husband working time were  working time and income outside of  goat farming as well as children working time and the number of goats. Meanwhile, the influencing  factors of wife working time were age and  working time outside the goat farming.Keywords : Family working time, goat farming, ols.

Abstract

The research was conducted to determine the income level of the goat farmers in Tondo District of East Palu, particularly the former employees of PT. Iradat Puri. The location and respondents weredeterminedby purposive sampling. The analysis of income was applied in this study.The result showed that the average income of farmers from the business in a year was about Rp 7,964,375.- This research showed that the income of goat farmersstill remained low. The increasing of the goat farmer income from this business was very depended on the capital and the improvement of the farmer knowledge on technical maintenance as well as the business management. Abstract

Palu City is an area that has great potential in the field of animal husbandry, particularly when focused on the processing of livestock products such as shredded beef or other meat.The purpose of this study was to analyze the profile and customer satisfaction to shredded beef.This research was conducted on consumers who consume shredded beef products produced by three of the nine producers in the city of Palu. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis and factor analysis.The results showed that (1) the consumer profile shredded beef in Palu, the majority of consumers are women, mostly housewives, the majority of productive age 20-29 years,the majority of high school educated/ equivalent, and come from all corners of the lower classes either,middle and upper. (2) The level of consumer satisfaction seen from product attributes indicate consumers are satisfied views of product quality attributes shredded beef. Abstract

The aimed of this research was to evaluate the effect of using fermented extracted herbals on income over feed cost (IOFC) and feed economic effiency on broiler rearing. Material used were80 unsexing DOC strain MB-202 produced by PT. Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk. Herbals used includegarlic (Allium sativum L.), ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc. var. rubrum), turmeric (Zingiber officinale Rosc.), wild ginger (Curcuma xanthorrhiza ROXB), and betel leaf (Piper Betle L.). Herbals were extracted, mixed,and fermented with EM4. then added to drinking water. The experiment usedaComplete Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were 0%, 10%, 15%, and 20% fermented extracted herbals in drinking water. The basal feedwas commercial complete feed produced by PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia. Results showed that there were no significant effect (P>0.05) on using fermented extractedherbals to income over feed cost (IOFC) and feed economic efficiency on broiler rearing. Income over feed cost  (Rp/chicken) were 5,099,75 ; 4,758,92 ; 4,530,34 ; and 4,053,26 respectively. Feed economic efficiency (Rp/chicken) were 12,061,09 ; 12,244,09 ; 12,094,16, and 12,500,86 respectively. It could be concluded that using fermented extracted herbals did not influence income over feed cost (IOFC) and feed economic efficiency on broiler rearing.
