Abstract

Marine invertebrates are animals that have no vertebrae and are almost found throughout marine areas, including coastal areas such as coral reefs. The study aims to determine the diversity of invertebrate species associated with coral reefs in the waters of Palu Bay, Panau Village, Palu. The number of invertebrates found in coral reefs were 558 individuals in the day (22 families), while at night as many as 670 individuals (24 families). Family Pectinidae has the highest abundance, both in the day (50.17%) and night (41.79%) with the number of 280 individuals. The value of diversity index during the day ranged from 1.03 to 1.67, while at night the diversity index ranged from 1.72 to 1.81 and categorized as low. The homogeneity index during the day for all transects ranged from 0.27 to 0.40, while at night ranged from 0.31 to 0.34 categorized as the community under stress. The dominance index during day and night for all transects are categorized as low, which for daytime ranges from 0.21 to 0.39, whereas the night ranges from 0.24 to 0.28.

Abstract

Red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) has been widely cultured throughout the world. Red tilapia is generally cultured in intensive system to increase production. However, many problems could be aroused from intensive culture including deterioration of water quality and fish health. Probiotics can be applied to overcome these problems. Probiotics contain beneficial microbes that can decompose metabolic products and stimulate the cellullar immune responses, thus enhancing the health and the growth of the fish and maintaining the quality of the water in ponds. The study aims to determine the effect of probiotics on the growth and survival of the red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.). The study was designed in a completely randomized design (CRD), which consisted of 4 treatments and 5 replicates. The treatment consisted of treatment A (control) without probiotics, treatment B (0.01 mL of probiotics / 30 L of water), treatment C (0.1 mL / 30 L), and treatment D (1.0 mL / 30 L). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that administration of probiotics with different concentrations in the cultured medium had a high significant effect on the absolute growth of the red tilapia (P<0.01). The highest absolute growth (8,94 g) and survival rate (84%) were found in cultured media with probiotic dose of 1.0 mL / 30 L of water media. Keywords: Red tilapia, probiotics, growth, survival rate.

Abstract

The research was conducted in June 2016 and housed at Fish Seed (BBI) Tulo, Central Sulawesi province. Test organisms used were seeds of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus), totaling 180 fishs. Research procedure includes the preparation of tools and materials, making the seeds, water quality measurements, anesthesia with ice cubes, transportation activities for 4-5 hours and data collection. The study design research is completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 3 treatments and 5 replications. The results showed that the different temperature levels in closed transport no significant effect (P> 0.05) on survival rate seed catfish. The average value of the highest survival rate 76% was obtained in treatment A (temperature 12OC.Water quality in the maintenance of media contained within the range that can be tolerated.

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the effect of additive typesas chemical composition onchemical composition of Mulato grass silage. The study lasted for 1 month and 3 days, in two phases, 21-days for ensilase process and 12-days for proximate analysis. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. Such treatment includes: R0 (mulato grass + 0% additives), R1 (mulato grass + 5% rice bran), R2 (mulato  grass + 5% cassava waste) and R3 (mulato grass + 5% molasses). The parameters measured were the content of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, crude lipid and crude fiber. Analysis of variance showed that the use of different additives was highly significant (P <0.01) on dry matter content, organic matter, crude protein, crude lipid and crude fiber Mulato grass silage. The addition of additives such as rice bran as much as 5% in the main grass silage made from mulato grass give the best effect to the nutrient content of 27.44% (dry matter), 88.63% (organic matter), 11.20% (crude protein), 3.53% (crude lipid) were highest of all treatments. The conclusion, use of types of additives as carbohydrates source (rice bran, cassava waste and molasses) produced mulato grass silage with better quality compared to control (without additive).  Keywords: Mulato grass, silage, Additives, rice bran, cassava waste, molasses.

Abstract

Research was aimed to study the effect of live feed Artemia salina and Rotifera on growth and survival rates of larva saline nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Research was counducted from March to April 2015 in Balai Budidaya Air Payau (BBAP) Takalar, Mapakalompo Village, Galesong Subdistrict, Takalar District, South Sulawesi. The fish was maintained in the 15 litre basin with density of 2 ind/litre. Larva fed according to the treatments: A (100% Artemia salina), B (100% Rotifera) and C ( 50% Artemia salina and 50% Rotifera) three times a day and was weighed three time a day during the research (12 days). Absolute growth and survival rates of each experimental unit was accounted at the end the experimental. the experimental was completely randomize designed with three treatments and six replicates. Results growth (1,54), while the highest survival rates (86,66%) was achieved at 50% Artemia salina feeding.   Keywords: Larva Saline Nile Tilapia, Artemia Salina, Rotifera, Growth, Survival

Abstract

Tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon, Fabricius) is the most widely used shrimp in Indonesia as it is one of Indonesia's export commodities that meets about 70% of Japan's national needs, the United States and the European Union. The purpose of this study is to determine the quality of egg tiger shrimp include; levels of protein, fat, ash, water, and carotenoids found in several Seed Centers in South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi Provinces. The research took place in the districts of Takalar, Maros, Barru, and Majene. The parents of tiger shrimp that have reached fourth level gonad maturity (TKG IV) taken Tiger shrimp gonads to extract the eggs and then tested proksimat and the results are analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the quality of egg tiger shrimp from BPPBAP Maros is the best quality while the quality of eggs tiger shrimp comes from Seed halls and hatchery of DKP Majene Regency was the lowest quality eggs. Keywords : Egg Quality, Proximat Analysis, Comparison

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine effect of young corn cob meal as a product of mushroom oyster white (pleurotus ostreatus) biodegradation and breaking fiber enzyme were added in the ration to broiler carcass. This research was implemented in Sigi districts central Sulawesi from June 11 to November 27, 2016. The used chickens is were 175 DOC. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 7 treatments and 5 replication as follows: R0 = 100% control ration, R1 = ration + 5% TTJMF, R2 = ration + 10% TTJMF, R3 = ration + 15% TTJMF, R4 = ration + 5% TTJMF + 7,5% units/kg breaking fiber enzyme, R5 = ration + 10% TTJMF + 7,5% units/kg breaking fiber enzyme, R6 = ration + 15% TTJMF + 7,5% units/kg breaking fiber enzyme. The results of this study showed that the treatment highly significant (P<0.01) to slaughter weight. The treatment showed non significant effect (P>0.05) on carcass percentage as well as the very significant effect (P<0,01) to abdominal fat. It caused of the basic materials used with high fiber feed affected to reduce slaughter weight and abdominal fat. It was concluded that used of TTJMF and breaking fiber enzyme in the ration to the extent 15% + 7.5% units/ kg gived the lowest result on abdominal fat but can not increase the slaughter weight and carcass percentage. Keywords: Broiler, corn cob, breaking fiber enzyme, carcass percentage.
