Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine effect of young corn cob meal as a product of mushroom oyster white (pleurotus ostreatus) biodegradation and breaking fiber enzyme were added in the ration to broiler carcass. This research was implemented in Sigi districts central Sulawesi from June 11 to November 27, 2016. The used chickens is were 175 DOC. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 7 treatments and 5 replication as follows: R0 = 100% control ration, R1 = ration + 5% TTJMF, R2 = ration + 10% TTJMF, R3 = ration + 15% TTJMF, R4 = ration + 5% TTJMF + 7,5% units/kg breaking fiber enzyme, R5 = ration + 10% TTJMF + 7,5% units/kg breaking fiber enzyme, R6 = ration + 15% TTJMF + 7,5% units/kg breaking fiber enzyme. The results of this study showed that the treatment highly significant (P<0.01) to slaughter weight. The treatment showed non significant effect (P>0.05) on carcass percentage as well as the very significant effect (P<0,01) to abdominal fat. It caused of the basic materials used with high fiber feed affected to reduce slaughter weight and abdominal fat. It was concluded that used of TTJMF and breaking fiber enzyme in the ration to the extent 15% + 7.5% units/ kg gived the lowest result on abdominal fat but can not increase the slaughter weight and carcass percentage. Keywords: Broiler, corn cob, breaking fiber enzyme, carcass percentage.

Abstract

This study aims to test the best substitution level of turmeric flour in rations on the growth performance of male turkeys aged 24-29 weeks in the experimental cage of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, University of Tadulako which is located in Sibalaya Village, Tanambulava District, Sigi Regency for 5 weeks. This study was designed using a completely randomized design (CRD), namely R0 = without + turmeric flour in the ration (control), R1 = 99.5% control ration + 0.5% turmeric flour, R2 = 99.5% control ration + 1 % turmeric flour, R3 = 99.5% control ration + 1.5% turmeric flour. The research variables were ration consumption, body weight gain, and ration conversion. The results showed that using turmeric flour as a feed additive had no significant effect on ration consumption, body weight gain, and ration conversion for male turkeys aged 24-29 weeks.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji level subtitusi terbaik tepung kunyit dalam ransum terhadap performa pertumbuhan kalkun jantan umur 24-29 minggu di kandang percobaan Fakultas Peternakan dan Perikanan Universitas Tadulako yang terletak di Desa Sibalaya, Kecamatan Tanambulava, Kabupaten Sigi selama 5 minggu. Penelitian ini didesain menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yaitu R0 = Tanpa tepung kunyit dalam ransum (kontrol), R1 = 99,5% ransum kontrol + 0,5% tepung kunyit, R2 = 99,5% ransum kontrol + 1% tepung kunyit, R3 = 99,5% ransum kontrol + 1,5% tepung kunyit, masing-masing perlakuan diulang 3 kali. Variabel penelitian adalah konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan, dan konversi ransum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan penggunaan tepung kunyit sebagai feed additif tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan, dan konversi ransum pada kalkun jantan yang berumur 24-29 minggu.

Abstract

The research aimed to study the effect of adding duckweed smash to broiler chicken feed on relative weight of its liver and pancreas. The number of chicken used was 100 broilers. The study employed a Completely Randomized design with five replicates in which five broilers were used for each replicate.  The treatments included basal feed (R0), 97% basal feed with 3% duckweed smash (R1), 94% basal feed with 6% duckweed smash (R2), 91% basal feed with 9% duckweed smash (R3), and 88% basal feed with 12% smash duckweed (R5). The addition of the duckweed smash on broiler feed significantly increased both the relative weight of the broiler liver and pancreas.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of combination of enzyme and palm kernel meal on growth uniformity, liveability and income over feed and chick cost of broiler.    A completely randomized design was used in this study, with 7 treatments and 5 replicated cages of         6 birds pei café.  A total of 210 day – old broiler chicks were used in this study.  Treatments tested were  Ro = 0 % palm kernel meal (PKM), R1=  20 % PKM ,R2= 20 % PKM plus 0.02 % multi enzyme,      R3 =  20 % enzymatically predigested PKM,  R4 = 30 % PKM ,  R5 = 30 % PKM  plus 0,02 % multi enzyme and R6 = 30 % enzimatically predigested PKM. Results of variance analysis indicated that addition of enzyme in palm kernel meal based diets produced non–significant difference in growth uniformity and liveability (P>0,05). Income over feed and chick cost, however, was significantly affected by enzyme addition (P<0,01 ).

Abstract

A study was carried out to determine the effect of peppermint (Mentha piperita) leaves meal on ammonia production, dry matter excreta, egg production, and the quality of laying hens. A total of 80 laying hens of Lohmann Strain aged 20 weeks old were used as experimental animals. The birds were allocated in individual battery pens. The 20-week-old laying hens were vaccinated for New Castle diseases protection by using Vaksimune®ND B1on day 5 after arrival. The hens were kept for 8 weeks and fed four experimental diets. The diets used were basal diet (BSL), basal + 1% peppermint leaves meal (PLM) (BSL+1PLM), basal + 2% PLM (BSL+2PLM) and basal + 3% PLM (BSL + 3PLM). Feed and drinking water were present at all times. Parameters measured were ammonia concentration, dry matter excreta, hen day production, total egg mass, feed intake, FCR, dry matter digestibility, and quality of 14-days-stored eggs. A completely randomized design with 4 experimental diets and 5 replications was used. Data collected from this study were analyzed by using analysis of variance and tested with the Tukey test. The addition of peppermint leaf meal reduced ammonia production and increases dry matter excreta, total egg mass production, and dry matter digestibility. The Haugh unit, yolk height, and albumen height were improved when the eggs were kept for 14 days at room temperature. The addition of peppermint leaves meal decreased the mass loss of 14 days-stored eggs. In conclusion, supplementation of diets with peppermint leaf meal decreased ammonia concentration and watery excreta and increased the quality of eggs stored for 14 days at room temperature.

Abstract

Enzim merupakan senyawa protein yang berfungsi sebagai katalisator untuk mempercepat reaksi pemecahan senyawa kompleks menjadi senyawa yang lebih sederhana. Penambahan multi enzim sebagai campuran bahan pakan unggas memiliki potensi meningkatkan kualitas pakan yang pada akhirnya dikuti oleh peningkatan kualitas telur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian multi enzim dalam pakan terhadap kualitas telur. Penelitian di laksanakan selama 42 hari yaitu pada tanggal 27 Desember 2022 - 06 Februari 2023 di Kandang Percobaan Laboratorium Pengembangan Agribisnis Peternakan dan Perikanan Fakultas Peternakan dan Perikanan Universitas Tadulako. Penelitian menggunakan 80 ekor ayam petelur umur 35 minggu. Penelitian ini menggunakan  Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan, perlakuan yang dibeikan sebagai berikut: M0 = pakan kontrol (jagung 50% + konsentrat 35 % + dedak padi 15%), M1 = Pakan kontrol + 0,025% Multi enzim, M2 = Pakan Kontrol + 0.050% Multi enzim, M3 = Pakan Kontrol +0.075% Multi enzim dan M4 = Pakan kontrol + 0.10% Multi enzim. Hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan bahwa pemberian multi enzim dalam pakan ayam ras petelur tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata (p>0,05) terhadap persentase kuning telur, indeks kuning telur serta warna kuning telur. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian Multi enzim hingga 0,10% dalam pakan ayam ras petelur tidak memberikan pengaruh terhadap semua perlakuan selama penelitian atau memberikan pengaruh yang sama terhadap nilai persentase, indeks dan warna kuning telur.

Abstract

Closed-house cages have zones in them that have different conditions. Zoning in cages has different temperatures, humidity, speed, and ammonia levels and affects broiler performance. This study aims to determine the effect of different zoning on microclimate conditions and broiler performance in closed-house cages. This research was carried out from June 9, 2023 – to July 6, 2023, at the closed-house cage “Chicken Farm Janna” in Taipa Village, North Palu District, Palu City, Central Sulawesi Province. This study used 396 broiler samples aged 1-28 days with a DOC (Day-old chick) weight of ± 37 grams/head. The strain used is Lohman produced by PT. Japfa Comfeed Indonesia. This study used a t-test with 2 treatments and 9 repeats. The treatment studied is Z1 = Zone 1-60 meters from the inlet and Z2 = Zone 60-120 meters from the inlet. The results of the t-test show that different zoning has a significant influence (t count >t table) on microclimate conditions and broiler performance in closed-house cages. Different zoning exerts a real influence on microclimate conditions and the performance of broilers in closed-house cages. In the closed house cage, the zone opposite the inlet (zone 2) results in a temperature rise, a rise in ammonia levels, a drop in humidity, a loss in body weight, and an increase in mortality.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the growth performance and digestibility of nutrients local chicken and super local chicken using different types of feed. The study was conducted in a Kawatuna Village, Mantikulore Subdistrict, Palu City, on January 13 - April 21, 2019. The study was designed using a Completely Randomized Design wira factorial patterns. The first factor is the type of chicken, namely local chicken and super local chicken, the second factor is the type of feed, which consists of commercial feed (P1), local feed (P2) and functional feed (P3). The study used 180 chickens consisting of 90 local chickens and 90 super local chickens . The variables observed were performance of growth and digestibility. Growth performance consisted of ration consumption, body weight gain, and ration conversied. Digestion consists of digestibility of crude protein and crude fat. The results showed that the interactied between chicken species and feed type had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on the growth performance (feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion) and digestibility. (protein and fat). The factor of chicken type had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on growth performances and protein digestibility, but had a very significant effect (P <0.01) on fat digestibility. The type of feed had a significant effect (P <0.05) on feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion and crude protein digestibility. The conclusions from the results of the study that growth performance (consumption, weight gain, feed conversion) and nutrient digestibilityies (crude protein and crude fat) were not significantly affected by interactions between types of chickens with feed types. Chicken species did not significantly affect the growth performance and protein digestibility, but fat digestibility differed significantly between local chicken (42.53%) and super local chicken (33.53%). The type of feed significantly affects growth performance and protein digestibilitis. But it is not significant in fat digestibility. The highest protein digestibility was found in the treatment of P3 (88.67%) and the highest fat digestibility, that is in the treatment of factory feed (P1) of (40.71%).

Abstract

ABSTRACT. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan pakan ampas kelapa (AK) yang difermentasi dengan penambahan ammonium sulfat (AS) terhadap produksi dan kualitas telur telah dilaksanakan. Ampas kelapa ditambahkan AS dengan konsentrasi 0, dan 4% dan 0.1% Ragi (Fermipan) dan diinkubasi selama 5 dan 7 hari. Substrat yang dihasilkan dicampur kedalam pakan dan diberikan kepada 75 ekor ayam petelur fase bertelur umur 20 minggu selama 24 minggu. Pakan perlakuan yang diberikan adalah: pakan kontrol (KTL), kontrol + AK tanpa AS yang difermentasi selama 5 hari (F5-0AS), kontrol + AK dengan 4% AS yang difermentasi selama 5 hari (F5-4AS), kontrol + AK tanpa AS yang difermentasi selama 7 hari (F7-0AS) dan kontrol + AK dengan 4% AS yang difermentasi selama 7 hari (F7-4AS). Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 5 perlakuan, 5 ulangan dan 3 ekor ayam per ulangan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan analisis ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Tukey. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi ransum, produksi telur, bahan kering ekskreta dan kualitas telur dipengaruhi oleh pakan perlakuan (P0,05). Perlakuan tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata (P0,05) terhadap bobot telur, kecernaan bahan kering, persentase kerabang telur, indeks telur dan tinggi albumen. Total bobot telur tertinggi diperoleh pada ayam yang diberi perlakuan fermentasi baik tanpa ataupun dengan penambahan AS. Fermentasi selama 7 hari dapat meningkatkan produksi henday dan jumlah telur. Kualitas terbaik dari aspek indeks kuning telur dan Haugh unit adalah pada perlakuan F7-4AS. Penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa fermentasi dapat meningkatkan total bobot telur dan AS dapat meningkatkan kualitas telur dalam bentuk Haugh unit. (The effect of coconut dregs fermented with the addition of ammonium sulfate on production and quality of eggs) ABSTRAK. An experiment was done to determine the effect of coconut dregs (CD) with the addition of ammonium sulfate (AS) prior to fermentation on productive performance and egg quality. Coconut dregs were added with 0 and 4% AS and 0.1% yeast S. cerevisiae (Fermipan) after autoclaving. The substrates were incubated for 5 and 7 days and mixed into diets and offered to 75 laying hens for 24 weeks. The experimental diets were: control diet (KTL), basal + 5-days- fermented coconut dregs (FCD) without AS (F5-0AS), basal + 5-days FCD with 4% AS (F5-4AS), basal + 7-days- FCD without AS (F7-0AS), basal + 7-days-FCD with 4% AS (F7-4AS). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance with 5 treatments and 5 replications. Data were further tested by the Tukey test. Results of the study indicate that feed intake, hen day production, total egg, total egg mass, excreta dry matter, yolk height, yolk index, and the Haugh unit were statistically affected by the treatments (P0.05). The effects of treatments were not statistically significant (P0.05) on individual egg mass, dry matter digestibility, eggshell percentage, egg shape index, and albumen height. The highest total egg mass was found in birds fed the FCD diets. Fermentation for 7 days could improve hen day production total egg. The higher yolk index and Haugh unit were produced by the hens fed the F7-4AS diet than those eggs produced by controlled laying hens. In conclusion, fermentation could improve total egg mass and AS supplementation could increase the Haugh unit.
