Abstract

Talas beneng (Xanthosoma undipes K. Koch) is the local taro from Mountain Coral of Banten Province. This research was aimed to know the nutrient content, composition, oxalic acid and mineral content in the talas beneng skin are cultivated by the community at different places. The research was carried out from May until October 2016. This research was conducted in the form of field research around the area of Mountain Coral, Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province. Analysis of the talas beneng skin was done in Balai Besar Industri Agro (BBIA), Bogor. The results showed that the content of proksimat talas beneng skin was cultivated include water, ash, protein, fat and carbohydrates. Moisture content at a higher altitude 500 m above sea level (asl): (87,6%) compared to the height of 400 m dpl (84,6%). Ash at altitudes of 400 m asl was higher (1,92%) compared to the height of the 500 m asl (1.53%). Protein content (1.04%) and fat (0.25%) at an altitude of 500 m asl was higher compared to the height of 400 m asl (1.00% and 0.23%). Carbohydrate content (12.2%) at an altitude of 400 m asl higher than the height of the 500 m asl (9.58%). Content of oxalic acid (0,19%) at an altitude of 400 m asl higher than the height of the 500 m asl (0.12%).Keywords: elevation, proximate, oxalic acid, talas beneng

Abstract

Inceptisols is the type of soil in Indonesia that has low fertility. It is necessary to improve the soil fertility through the use of fertilizers and organic matter to raise the quality of Inceptisols. The research was aimed to know the effect of vermicompost and N, P, K fertilizer combination to Organic-C, Total N, C/N and yield of Edamame soybean on Inceptisols at Jatinangor. The research was carried out from March until June 2016 at Ciparanje Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture of University of Padjadjaran at Jatinangor, Sumedang at an altitude about ± 765 meters above sea level. The research used the Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) that consisted of eight treatments and three replications. The treatments were: control (no treatment), ½, 1, and 1½ dose recommendation of N, P, K fertilizer (Urea 100 kg ha-1 + SP-36 150 kg ha-1 + KCl 125 kg ha-1), also, 5 and 10 t ha-1 vermicompost. The results showed that combination treatment of vermicompost and N, P, K fertilizer significantly increased Organic-C, Total N, C/N and yeild of Edamame soybean. The combination of 1 dose recommendation of N, P, K fertilizer and 5 t ha-1 vermicompost gave the best result that produced 116,5 g plant ha-1(10,4 t ha-1) yield of Edamame soybean.Keywords: C/N, Edamame soybean, Inceptisols, N,P,K fertilizer, Vermicompost.

Abstract

This research was aimed to know the response of various compound manure and growing media to growth and yield of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) Permata variety as hydrophonics. The research was conducted at Caringin Village, Labuan Sub-District from November 2013 until February 2014. The research used Randomized Completely Block Design which consisted of two factors. The first factor was various compound manure, which consisted of three levels; P1 = Gandapan; P2 = Gandasil D; and P3 = Gandasil B. The second factor was growing media, which consisted of three levels: M1 = husk charcoal; M2 = Malang sand; and M3 = husk charcoal : Malang sand 1:1. The each treatment was repeated three times, so there were 27 experimental units. The result showed that manure of Gandapan gave the best effect to parameters: the plant height 2 and 4-7 weeks after planting (54.74 cm), the number of leaves 2, 7 and 8 weeks after planting (34.85 leaves), the number of fruits on 2, 4, 5 and 6 harvest time (5,67 fruits), the weight of fruits per plant (160,64 g), the weight of fruits per plant (154.81 g), the dry weight of plants (10.38 g), and and the length of roots (49.74 cm). The husk charcoal growing media gave the best effect on parameters of the plant height 2, 6-8 weeks after planting (53.22 cm), the number of fruits on 2nd harvest time (3,26 fruits), the weight of fruits per plant (154.95 g), fresh weight of plants (154.44 g), the dry weight of plants (10,11 g), and the length of roots (47.07 cm). There’s no interaction between combination of Gandapan and husk charcoal growing media, except on the dry weight of plant parameter (12.72 g).Keywords: Tomato, Compound manure, Hydrophonics

Abstract

Effect of foliar fertilizer on growth of axillary buds of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) Cilembu Variety as in vitro. This research was aimed to find inexpensive formulations planting medium for the multiplication of sweet potato as in vitro. Research was conducted at the Tissue Culture Laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tridinanti Palembang from November 2015 until April 2016. The reseach used Randomized Completely Design (RCD) with 5 treatments and 5 replications, namely: H1 = MS (control), H2 = Hyponex 2 g, H3 = Growmore 2 g , H4 = Gandasil D 2g, H5= MS+Hyponex 2 g, H6 = MS+ Growmore 2g, H7=MS+Gandasil D 2g. Each treatment was repeated five (5) times. Parameter observed were: time formed buds, shoots, number of leaves, the time to form roots, number of roots, root length, and percentage of plantlets life. The result showed that the treatment of foliar fertilizer no significant effect than that of MS to spur the growth of axillary buds explants of sweet potato varieties Cilembu in vitro. In the tabulation of foliar fertilizer Growmore 2 g gave explant growth of axillary buds of sweet potato better.Keyword: Sweet potato, Foliar fertilizer.

Abstract

Control of Grayak Caterpillar (Spodoptera exigua Hubn) pest by farmers generally is still use synthetic insecticides that have such a negative impact resistance, resurgence, killing natural enemies, increasing residue on crop yields, environmental pollution and health problems for users. One effort to reduce the use of chemical insecticides namely biological control method uses the Spodoptera exigua Nucleo Polyhedro Virus. This research was aimed to know the mortality rate army worm (Spodoptera exigua Hubn) by suspension Spodoptera exigua Nucleo Polyhedro Virus with different concentration. This research was conducted in the laboratory and green house of Vegetable Crops Research Institute at Lembang, Bandung from July until September 2014. This research used Randomized Completely Design (RCD). The result showed that Spodoptera exigua Nucleo Polyhedro Virus was significant to death of Spodoptera exigua. Spodoptera exigua Nucleo Polyhedro Virus concentration showed significant to mortality rates of Spodoptera exigua. In the test stage, the larvae of Spodoptera exigua 2 was the highest stage mortality was caused by infection Spodoptera exigua Nucleo Polyhedro Virus. Method of dipping caterpillars and feed applications were the best treatment because it showed the highest mortality. Pest control Grayak Caterpillar (Spodoptera exigua) in the field could use Spodoptera exigua Nucleo Polyhedro Virus coarse suspension of 10 g L-1 which was applied to the onion crop that was attacked.Keywords: Spodoptera exigua, Spodoptera exigua Nucleo Polyhedro Virus, Onion

Abstract

China aster plant is a popular ornamental plant species in Indonesia, because aster has a beautiful flower with a wide range of colors such as purple, white, yellow, red, etc. Aster plant as an ornamental plant is quite attractive, but the seed supply is limited due to many factors inhibiting the cultivation techniques, so the availability of aster seeds in the field is quite limited. Plant propagation using in vitro culture technology represents a major opportunity to produce seedlings in a short time and the number of lots. This research used Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with five treatments and five replications with each treatment used 5 units bottle culture samples so totally there were 125 units. The treatment of the research were: H0 (control), H1 (1.5 g Growmore + 30% Coconut Milk), H2 (1.5 g Growmore + 40% Coconut Milk), H3 (2 g Hyponex + 30% Coconut Milk) and H4 (2 g Hyponex + 40% coconut Milk). Parameters observed were: the time to sprout, shoot height, the time to form roots, number of roots and root length. The result showed that the analysis of variance was no significant effect to all parameters observed. Meanwhile, based on the tabulated results showed that the treatment H0 gave the best response to time to sprout, shoot height, time to grow roots and root length.Keywords: Aster China, Foliar Fertilizer, Coconut Water

Abstract

Optimization of production rice plants can be achieved if the needs of macro and micro nutrients essential plant fulfilled. To achieve optimal rice yield can be done by proper fertilization based on the type, characteristics and nutrient content of fertilizers applied. Alternative to increasing rice yield can be done by applying biofertilizer in reducing the use of inorganic fertilizers. This experiment aims to determine the effect of Solid Biofertilizer (SBF) on nutrient uptake, growth, and yield and yield components of rice paddy fields. This research was carried out on the planting medium Inceptisols at Jatinangor used a Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with 10 treatment combinations which replicated 3 times. The results showed that a dose of 1 NPK, combined with SBF ranging from ¼ dose, dose ½, ¾ and 1-dose showed gradual improvement to the uptake of N and P as well as yield and yield components of paddy.Keywords: Solid Biofertilizer, NPK Fertilizer, Paddy Yield

Abstract

In breeding activities, the testing of new varieties for a particular environmentneeds germplasm with high variability and genetic information, including thevalue of heritability estimates. The research was aimed to know the variability and estimate heritability value on 9 genotypes of tomato on organic farming. The research was conducted at Torongrejo village, Junrejo subdistrict, Batu, East Java at the altitude of ± 700 m above sea level. The research used the Randomized Completely Block Design with three replications and 9 genotypes of F5 generation as treatment. Selection was done in organic breeding that specified in applying organic pesticide and fertilizer without any synthetic chemicals. Data of the observation was analyzed to find out the analysis of variance (anova), coefficient of genotypic and phenotypic variances and heritability. The results showed that the number of pieces of good character, the number of total fruit, fruit weight was good, ugly fruit weight, fruit weight and the total weight per piece had high values for the coefficient of genotypic and phenotypic variability. Result of the heritability calculation on characters number of good fruit, good fruit weight and weight per fruit had low values.Keywords: Tomatoes, Genotypic and phenotypic variability, Heritability,Organic farming

Abstract

Fertilizer is one of the important limited factor in plant cultivation system. Biofertilizer is a kind of fertilizer which improve nutrient availability in soil and subsequently plant yield. A research was carried out in village Waiheru, District Baguala, Ambon to determine the effect of different level of mixed biofertilizer on the growth and yield of caisim that grown on Alluvial. The research used Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with three concentration of liquid biofertilizer, namely: 0.1%, 0.5% and 1%. Treatment control was without biofertilizer. The results showed that inoculation of liquid biological fertilizer at concentration of 1% improved growth and yield of caisim higher than the concentration of 0.1% and 0.5%. Inoculation of 1% biofertilizer increased the fresh weight of caisim shoot up to 37.36% compared to that of controls. While, fresh weight of caisim with biofertilizer of 0.1% and 0.5% was 24.52% and 28.94% respectively.Keyword: Ambon, Mixed Biofertilizer, Caisim

Abstract

Corn seed in the storage can be experience quality and quantity in July 1st 2017 decrease. In fact, it was caused by Sitophilus zeamais M. pest. The level of S. zeamais M. damage at corn seed could be over than 30%. This research was aimed to find the best concentration betel leaf powder to control S. zeamais M. on corn seed in the storage. Research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pests Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau from October until December 2015. The research used a Randomized Completely Design (RCD) consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments tested were giving some concentration of betel leaf powder around 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 g / 100 g of corn. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance. The result of that variance was tested further by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test. The result showed that S. zeamais M. which was given the betel leaf powder with different concentration showed the initial time of death, lethal time 50, daily mortality, total mortality, depreciation and accretion individual seed weight S. zeamais M. was different. The betel leaf powder with a concentration of 8 g/100 g of corn could control the S. zeamais M. pest.Keywords: Corn seed, Piper aduncum L., Sitophilus zeamais M.
