Abstract

The study aims to find out how to get start in fabricating Banki turbine of 200 watt in electical power capacity and determine the influence of fixed blade opening and dynamometer loading variation. This study was performed and examined directly in the laboratory of University of Muslim Indonesia Makassar, turbine rotation velocity, water capacity, were measured using hand tachometer, and manometer respectively. The fixed blade valve setting also performed during the test. The result of study show that fixed blade opening with load variation at constant rotation turbine produced maximum power as follows: fixed blade opening of 12o with 2 kg load in 550 rpm produced 72 watt of electrical power and maximum fixed blade opening of 20o with 5.2 kg load in 550 rpm produced 186 watt of electrical power.

Abstract

One of the causes damage to the pipeline is vibration caused by fluctuation in the flow. Two-phase flow of liquid - gas at high pressure will provide a fluctuating impact load. Fluctuations in stream flow patterns are shown by the form. It is necessary to note the fluctuation force on a straight pipe wall in accordance with the flow pattern is formed. This study uses two-phase flow by varying the flow of air and water. Variations of water flow are 5,10,15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 lpm. While the variations of air flow used are 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 lpm. The sensor used a strain gauge type GFCA 3-50 to read the strain in the pipe. The results indicate that the greatest force at the time of the bubble flow pattern  is 0.143 N and its value is relatively stable. While the slug flow pattern shows the force generated more fluctuations than the other flow patterns.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of rotation and temperature on the strength of welded joints (tensile strength and strain stress) from the result of friction welding using low carbon steel (St.42). The Friction welding process was carried out by varying the rotation (550 rpm, 1020 rpm and 1800 rpm) and temperature (750oC, 800oC and 850oC). The results of the friction welding were then examined to find out their connections strength. The initial data of this research were obtained through the testing of tensile stress and strain stress by using the tensile testing machine and the torsion testing machine. The data obtained from the tests were analyzed by using statistical methods of regression and ANOVA. The results reveal that the maximum tensile strength value and the highest maximum strain stress occur at the rotation of 1800 rpm  and the temperature of 850oC. The values were: σmax = 403.80 N/mm2 and ד max = 365.89 N/mm2. The statistical analysis reveals that there is a relationship betwen the input variable X (rotation and temperature) and output  variable Y (tensile strength and strain stress)

Abstract

Omniwheels robot is a kind of mobile robot that can be moved to any direction, different cases than non-holonomic mobile robot. The advantage of omniwheels is shape of the wheel. Control method of this research is kinematic control. The derivation of such method is matrices velocities of omniwheels robot.Than, the control system was implemented to tracking trajectory problem. Still in the control system, it was choosing closed loop control for auto navigation problem. Finally, the robot also was used ultrasonic sensors for obstacle avoidance problem.

Abstract

Natural fibre composites have been developed for some applications. One of potential natural fibre for composite is angustifolia Haw Agave fibre.  In this research, the tensile strength and flexural strength of agave fibre composite with variations of fibre length were determined. Fibre agave (treated and untreated) with 1 cm, 3 cm and 5 cm length was used as reinforced composite.    The results showed that the maximum tensile strength of agave fibre composite with untreated fibre occurs in 5 cm length, meanwhile with treated fibres the tensile strength tends to similar for each fibre length; and agave fibre with 5 cm length  as reinforced composite has higher flexural strength than other fibre lengths for treated and untreated fibres.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the deflection phenomena of ST 60 steel with numerically and experimentally placed on the hinge-roller support. The study applies the integration method for numerical analysis and testing method for experimental ones. The supports use a hinge-roller with the material of carbon steel of ST 60 with length 0.8 m, width 0.01 m and thickness 0.01 m. The result shows that the maximum deflection occurs at x = 0.4 m with a loading of 2.5 kg for each location of loading. The value of deflection obtained experimentally was greater than of numerically.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the amount of investment of a particular industry on a ship propeller foundry industry CV. Antero Jaya Sakti and production costs and selling prices for each product made propeller. The research was conducted by collecting data on production and equipment of CV. Antero Jaya Sakti, as well as making observations on the propeller shops of Makassar, needs to know the number and type of propeller is required. In addition, calculation and data analysis to determine the total investment and total production costs and payback period is desired. The results showed that the investment needed to run the ship propeller foundry industry in CV. Antero Jaya Sakti is $ 28,139.69  with a payback period of 3.2  years, cost of production required is $ 7.2 and selling price for a propeller that is produced is $ 9.77. The results could give the assumption that the investment in the propeller foundry industry can be considered feasible.
