Abstract

Kalosara is a local wisdom which is grown in Kendari Southeast Sulawesi Indonesia, and it has been proven to strengthen peace and harmony in the tribe of Tolaki. Therefore, how to enlarge the function of Kalosara in the multicultural society, is the main discussion of this article base on the theory of multiculturalism and structural-functional in the frame of descriptive-qualitative approach, where the society interpreted as a structure that interacting each other, especially in the norms, traditions, and institutions. The analyzed of data refers to thinking narratively as a way of thinking about phenomena. Data gaining from in-depth interview, literature review, and observation indicated that the local wisdom that supports harmony in Kendari basically also presents in all ethnicities, thus strengthening of Tolakinese’s local wisdom through the internalization of Kalosara in Lulo dance can be well-received by other communities. Kalosara has effective influence in being a unifying means between the dispute parties. Therefore, to expand the access of Kalosara into more effective function, it is recommended to internalized the values of Kalosara in public activities, primarily in Lulo dance, and it is also advisable to manifest the transformation of stylistic Kalosara in the forms of jewelry or crafts, bracelets, necklaces, rings, plate plaques, and other forms that may adopt the shape of original Kalosara, simultaneously adapt its function as an integral tool. If Kalosara transforms into various shapes which is easy to carry anywhere has spread in the community, it is expected at the same time also the functions to spread to the whole society.

Abstract

This research was done at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri I in Pontianak, the capital of Western Borneo. The focus of the research was the implementation of Education Unit Level Curriculum (KTSP) at MadrasahAliyah Negeri I Pontianak which was seen from the aspects of the implementation of KTSP itself, of the management, of the administration ofthe management, of developmental method, of learning facilities, and ofthe evaluation of learning system. In addition, this research also examined how learners' perceptions of the implementation of KTSP were. From the result of the research showed that the implementation ofKTSP at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri I Pontianak could run well in accordance with learning procedure, namely operationally the curriculumhad been composed by the education unit itself with various kinds ofdynamism although it did not free from the standard of content whichwas composed by BSNP (National Education Standard Agency). Similarly, learners' perceptions showed that they understood enough andwere able to follow the learning process with KTSP as the new curriculum after the application of KBK (Competency Based-Curriculum).However, on another side, there were several disadvantages whichneeded improvement such as human resources factor, namely teacherswho had experience in local level but lacked insight into communication in national level, frequent occurrences of technical obstacles in theimplementation, insufficient facilities for the learning process such asincomplete multimedia and the existing learning media if they were connected to the ratio of learners, a high shortage of teachers' handbooksso that on average teachers only mentioned 2 reference books namely Ipackage book and I book published by Toha Putra Semarang and prac tically the supervision of education has not yet been done by counselorsfrom Regional Office of Ministry of Religious Affairs of Pontianak.

Abstract

The events of 9/11 era had a number of dramatic results for ‘Islam’ and the Muslim world; and one such result was a surplus of endeavors through various mediums to conceptualize, hypothesize, and posit an ostensible ‘divide’ between ‘Islam’ (as a religion, ideology, and political system) and Western culture and society. In post- 9/11 era, Islam was frequently used as a ‘violent’ and ‘terrorist’ religion and, on the other, there has been a prodigious demand for information about Islam, and things related to Islam. It gave a momentum, in the years to come, to an issue (among a multiple of issues and discourses) referred as “Islamism”—a term/ label, in many senses, used collectively but commonly for “Islamic fundamentalism”, “Islamic extremism”, “Islamic conservatism”, “radicalism”, “political Islam”, etc. This paper, in this backdrop, presents an assessment of the recent scholarship on “Islamism” as a discourse. It highlights and presents a detailed evaluation and estimation, with some critical and comparative notes, on some important works dealing with various aspects and facets of Islamism (radicalism and political Islam), and puts forward some insights on the future prospects of ‘Islamism’ as a discourse.

Abstract

The Productivity of Indonesian researchers is still considered low at the international level. The researcher productivity is measured through the amount of scientific papers published. This study aimed to prove some factors affecting the research productivity. Specifically, this study aimed to empirically examine the effect of researcher characteristics, subjective well-being, knowledge sharing, and research competence on research productivity. With stratified proportional random sampling technique we obtained a sample of 100 researchers in Office of Research and Development and Training scattered in central and local units. Data were collected using questionnaires to measure research productivity, subjective well-being, knowledge sharing, and research competence. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentiallly. We used analysis of variance (ANOVA) and path analysis which were processed with SPSS 16 and LISREL 8.80 (Student) for the inferential analysis. The results of ANOVA concluded that the productivity did not differ significantly by gender. However there were significant differences in the research productivity based on the academic qualification and the functional job of researchers. The results of path analysis concluded that subjective well-being and research competence had direct positive effect on the research productivity, knowledge sharing had direct negative impact on the research productivity but knowledge sharing had indirect positive effect through the research competence on the research productivity. Research compentence contributes the highest effect on the research productivity. From this study we recommend that the institution need to improve the research competence on quantitative research method with regard to statistical tools to collect, process, and analyze the research data.

Abstract

The Islamic model that happened and developed within the campus as the place used for thisstudy, is the results of the implementation of religious movement. This model is known through a qualitative method with interviews and direct observation to some religious activities organized by students, in both the formal and informal settings. In the process of religious movement itself, there is a tension between those who tend to be an exclusive group with the one who is moderate (non-exclusive) in various forms of activities, particularly in scientific research forum. Student religious movement became a phenomena indicating a desire to learn or analyze religious beliefs with the more acceptable scientifi reasoning. This choice is a form of expression to the lack of or inability in meeting the needs of religious knowledge provided by the university. Ironically, this choice of students was understood by some religious groups with different ideology. Each pattern known through activities and religious movements even it did not appear overtly or show its identity. Will this phenomena allowed or the campus will take an anticipatory action in order to develop new policies as an effort to meet the needs of students religious knowledge? Everything should goes back to the university.

Abstract

This article discusses Sappho’s “Ode to Anaktoria” (fragment 16) poem as a ‘marginal’ product of an aristocratic intellectual in the transitional society of Mytilene at the end of the Archaic Period (8th-5th century B.C.). The research method is a kind of media analysis. The mean of “media” in this paper related to “A means by which something is communicated or expressed” It is laso relate to the intervening substance through which sensory impressions are conveyed or physical forces are transmitted. Media also means as a substance in which an organism lives or is cultured. On the other hand, media is a material or form used by an artist, composer, or writer; We interpreted Ode to Anaktoria  in the means as the terms of media above. Sappho (born 610, died 570 B.C.) is a renowned Greek lyric poetess and musician and is greatly admired in all ages for the beauty of her writing style. Plato’s 16th epigram dedicated to her reads “Some say there are nine Muses; but they should stop to think. Look at Sappho of Lesbos; she makes a tenth”. Sappho is additionally ranked among the Nine Lyric Poets esteemed by the scholars of Hellenistic Alexandria as worthy of critical study. “Ode to Anaktoria” is read through the historic-political concept of hegemony as suggested by Gramsci. In this view, the moment of “hegemony” or of cultural leadership is systematically upgraded precisely in opposition to the mechanistic and fatalistic concepts of economism. Sappho’s fragment 16 does not only indicate defiance to androcentric (epic) categories; she suggests nonnormative, thus new, ways of contemplating life (lyric).

Abstract

The renewal of Islamic thinking continuously develops from time to time in Indonesia. This research tries to answer two main problems, they are: how are the reasoning or ideology developed by Liberal Islam Network (LIN)?; and how are LIN’s main ideas and their metamorphoses? The research applies qualitative method with hermeneutic approach. The data is collected by library research or text documentation. The data is collected on August 18th to August 29th 2015. The research finds that the ideas of Liberal Islam Network show significant liberal signs. From the ontology of text, in reading religious text, LIN’s assumptions are “the critics over the truth”. LIN applies humanistic approach in reading the religious texts. This is confirmed by LIN’s defense toward human’s dignity. From the aspect of theoretically analytical tools in reading religious texts, LIN applies social sciences, which are socio-historical analyses. LIN uses symbol or semiotics analyses to read the religious text. The main notions of LIN are: First, Islam changes, it is not static; second, context is the first and history is the latter. Here, in reading a religious text, LIN wants to place context (socio-history) proportionally; third, LIN intends to hold God in our ground and history. The metamorphoses of LIN’s ideas are: firstly is to oppose theocracy; secondly is to endorse democracy; thirdly is to endorse gender equality; fourthly is to contextualize religious doctrines; and fifthly is to support pluralism and freedom of thinking.

Abstract

This study aims at describing the model of religious value transmission communication that occurs in Rohis organization as a form of Islamic proselytizing, at viewing the students’ view toward the form of the state government, and at viewing the political orientation of the Rohis members. By using the qualitative approach, this study has successfully gathered the following findings. First, the model of religious value transmission through the Rohis organization is the one way traffic communication. This transmission process involves communicators namely the mentor, the Rohis coaching teachers, da’i/mubaligh from values mass organization background (political parties and non-government organizations), and alumni. The internalization of such religious attitude has been conducted both verbally and non-verbally using the social media (WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, and Line). Second, the Rohis members had peculiar political view and orientation in relation to the leader and the form of the state. In relation to the leader, the Rohis members will vote for the male and Islamic leader. Then, in relation to the form of the state there are two groups among the Rohis members. One group demands the Unified State of Indonesian Republic (NKRI, Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia), while the other group demands the Islamic state. However, the supporters of the unified republic are quite bigger than those of Islamic state.
