Jurnal ini merupakan terbitan berkala 6 bulan, dengan jadwal terbit bulan April dan Oktober di setiap tahunnya. Artikel pada jurnal ini ditujukan untuk mewadahi publikasi artikel yang bersumber dari mahasiswa, guru, dosen, dan pemerhati bidang pendidikan matematika maupun matematika sain. Artikel yang dimuat di jurnal ini adalah artikel hasil penelitian atau hasil kajian dengan format penulisan mengikuti kaidah ilmiah.

Abstract

This research aims to describe student’s error in finishing Mathematics’ question dealing with probability material and the causes of student’s error and it purposes to know whether remedial program can fix those errors or not. The result of the diagnosis test shows that the students encounter concept error, principal error, technique error, and factual error. The causes of these errors: (1) the students do not know the correct way to solve the question, (2) the students cheat their classmate, (3) the students are lazy to study mathematics, (4) the students do not study mathematics at home, (5) the students do not understand probability concept well, (6) they are not interested in mathematics because they think it is difficult, (7) the students do not like mathematics since they were in elementary and junior high school, (8) the students  are not interested in mathematics because they think mathematics which is learned at school is not used in daily life, (9) the students do not like mathematics so they are unwilling to join the lesson at school, (10) the students are lazy to study and pay attention in the class so they do not understand the material, (11) the student cannot focus on the material which is given in the class, (12) The class’s situation does not support them to study, (13) the students do the diagnosis test in hurry (14) they are not conscientious in finishing diagnosis test. Based on the research, remedial program has not fixed the students’ error yet.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the characteristics of students’ thinking process in resolving mathematics problems based on cognitive style theory – Field Dependent (FD) and Field Independent (FI). This research design of this study is explorative descriptive research. Therefore, it is not aimed to clarify hypothesis. The data used in this research is qualitative one. They are taken from the research subjects which are the students of VIII-H class in Junior High School 1 Madiun of the academic year of 2016/2017. The research subjects of this study are determined by distributing Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT) to them. Then, the students are selected to fulfill the criteria for being research subject which is based on the cognitive style they possessed. The data collection technique is conducted by using Think Alouds (Think Out Loud) method and clinical interview. The data analysis technique of this study is a descriptive analysis. It is performed by interpreting every step of thinking which is considered and acquired by the research subjects as they deal with the mathematics problems. According to the research result, the researcher can conclude the characteristics of students’ thinking processes which have cognitive style of Field Dependent (FD) and of students’ thinking processes which have cognitive style of Field Independent (FI) in resolving the mathematics problems.

Abstract

This research aim to describe misconception profile which is experienced by students of VIII-C SMPN 12 Madiun in 2016/2017 on the subject of the circle and its causal factors and to describe whether learning with cognitive conflict strategy can overcome misconceptions experienced by students. This research was descriptive qualitative research. The results of this research indicate that: (1) the misconception profile experienced by students is that students do not understand the definition of the circumference, so that when the students calculate the circumference of a field formed from the circle and restricted by two radius of the circle, the student only counts the circumference Section of the circle without adding lengths twice the radius of the circle. As students calculate the circumference of the circular and rectangular joints, the students calculate the circumference of parts of the circle and rectangles separately, and sum the results or students only count the circumference of parts of the circle only. Students are still difficult to change the story related to the wide circle into a mathematical sentence. (2) factors causing misconceptions experienced by students were students lack understanding of the definition of the circumference itself, the lack of business students in solving problems faced by mathematics, students do not repeat the material that has been taught, homework given not corrected and discussed, Teachers use only lecture methods that make students feel bored with math lessons (3) based on learning outcomes that cognitive conflict learning strategies can overcome misconceptions experienced by students.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the practicality of learning media of mathematics using Geogebra on sub subject of tangent alliance of two circles. Practicality seen from the questionnaire ease of using Geogebra, questionnaire results minimize the role of teachers, and the results of the observation sheet minimizes the role of teachers. Based on the results of experimental learning media, questionnaire ease using Geogebra states media easy to use, questionnaires teacher role minimization and observation sheet minimize the role of teachers said the media can minimize the role of teachers. Thus, the mathematics learning medium using Geogebra on the sub-subject of the two-circle fellowship can be stated as practical. The practicality of this medium indicates that this medium can be used in assisting the teacher to explain the tangent material of the two-circle fellowship and can be used by the students to study the concept of tangent to the two-circle alliance.

Abstract

This research aims to know the factors that influence profound visual disability student’s understanding on mathematics at Glonggong subdistrict of Putra Idhata SLB Dolopo Madiun Regency. This research included in the descriptive qualitative research, collection of data in this study use techniques of observation, interview and documentation. While the data were analyzed interactively through data reduction, data presentation, and data verification, and to check the validity of the data is done by triangulation techniques and resources. Based on the results of the research, the factors affecting profound visual disability students in learning mathematics in SLB Putra Idhata Glonggong Madiun Regency Dolopo Sub can be distinguished into two factors, namely the intrinsic factor and extrinsic factors. the intrinsic factor that affect the level of student’s understanding in mathematics includes: a) profound visual disability  student's physical conditions); b) the intelligence of students; c) lack of stimulus and motivation; d) psychological factors of students before the study begins; and e) causes and time of occurrence of becoming profound visual disability. Whereas extrinsic factors that affect the level of student’s understanding in mathematics including: a) the condition of inadequate class; b) lack of media used by teachers in learning mathematics; c) existence of teachers; and d) material being taught.
