Abstract

Cijulang and its surrounding area represent as karst morphology with the cavity network development as the result of groundwater dissolution process. The research of karst hydrogeology in Cijulang area was conducted by using hydrochemical analysis and compiled with the field hydrogeological observation data to identify the hydrogeological system. Based on hydrochemical analysis data as degree of acidity (pH), partial pressure of CO2 (Pco2), and saturation index of calcite (SIkalsit) that compiled with hydrogeological characteristics shown the change of groundwater flow mechanism on the spanning of certainly elevation. Diffusion flow mechanism happened at theelevation of 110–65 masl (transition zone-1) and then changed into conduit flow mechanism at the elevation of 65–35 masl (transition zone -2) and at the elevation of 35–20 masl (zone of continuous water circulation).

Abstract

The uses of conventional drug for osteoarthritis treatment has been shown to give serious side effects. The use of jamu as a natural product for treatment of osteoarthritis needs a scientific evidence especially efficacy and safety evidence. This research is a quasi experiment pre post test design study that was conducted at Klinik Saintifikasi Jamu B2P2TOOT from March until December 2011. The giving of jamu formula that which consisted of 15 gram temulawak rhizome (Curcuma xanthorrhiza), 7 gram meniran herb (Phylanthus niruri), 15 gram kunyit rhizome (Curcuma domestica), 5 gram adas seed (Foeniculum vulgare), 5 gram rumput bolong herb (Equisetum debile), and 5 gram kumis kucing leaves (Orthosiphon stamineus) for2 months could improve clinical symptoms such as joint paint, swollen joints, movement disorders and tingling. Objectively the jamu formula decresed the joint paint with measurements of visual analogue scale. This formula in terms of safety did not interfere with liver and kidney function.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to compare the accuracy of the ARMA conventional model and the ANFIS softcomputing model in forecasting soybean parity price. Two variables are chosen, Rupiah exchange rate and international soybean price which are the most volatile than others that make up the parity price. The methods used to compare the two models are Theil’s Inequality and MAPE. The results show that the ANFIS models are superior in predicting the exchange rate and international soybean prices based on the selected performance method.

Abstract

By far the information about Indian Ocean big eye tuna biology and fisheries especially in Indonesia is still verylimited. This paper is an attempt to give some information of the biological observations, especially sex ratio of bigeye tuna(BET) in Indian Ocean. Surveillance was conducted by scientific observers on March–April, 2010 following twocommercial tuna longline vessels based in Port of Benoa. Total 159 of BET managed to be hauled and observed. The result showed that sex ratio of male and female BET was 1:1.12 and study indicated small size (60–100cm) and large size (140–160 cm) of BET comprise of male more than female; while middle size (100–140 cm)dominated by female rather than male. In addition most BET caught were already reached their sexual maturity.

Abstract

Study on stomatal characteristics of some reclamation plants in the post tin-mining land in Bangka was conducted based on Wholemount method. According to the classification of stomata density, Trema orientalis, Commersonia bartramia, and Syzygium garcinifolium were belong to high density category (> 500/mm2), while stomatal density V. pinnata was in the category of medium density (300-500/mm2). The average length of stomata T. orientalis, V. pinnata, and S. garcinifolium include length size (20-25 µm) criteria, while C. bartramia include long enough size (< 20 µm). Based on characteristics that the four types of stomata plants show V. pinnata grown more adaptive of post tin -mining land in Bangka compared with T.orientalis,C. bartramia, and S. garcinifolium.

Abstract

A study on the exploration of bird diversity in Gunung Ambang Nature Reserve was performed to collect much information on the existence of the bird species especially the endemic bird species in Wallace bioregion. This research was done by using two methods, an irregular transect method and a method with mistnet installation to determine the bird morphological characteristics. The observation area was determined purposively. A total of68 species has been recorded from this research and those were dominated by family Columbidae. From the total species found, it could be classified into 32 families and 28 species including the endemic bird species. Seven bird species have been obtained from the mistnet method and among them, four species were found as endemic species. They were Dark-eared Myza (Myza celebensis celebensis), Matinan Blue Flycatcher (Cyornis sanfordi), Speckled Boobook (Ninox punctulata), and Sulawesi Leaf-warbler (Phylloscopus sarasinorum nesophilus).

Abstract

Some rice cultivation systems with integrated nutrient and environmental friendly management have been developed i.e. System of Rice Intensification (SRI) and Integrated Plant Management (IPM). Utilization of bio, organic, and inorganic fertilizer which give more advantages for productivity of lowland need be assessed on various agricultural lands with various rice cultivation systems. Utilization of bio-fertilizer accompanied by addition of compost 2.5 t/ha and inorganic fertilizer ½ (NPK)-recommendation are better to rice growth and yield than addition of compost 5 ton/ha on PTT system and fertilization with NPK-recommendation on farmer customs system. Effect of utilization of bio-fertilizer accompanied by addition of compost 2.5 t/ha and inorganic fertilizer ½ (NPK)-recommendation on farmer customs system, is better in the biological soil characteristics compared to the utilization of compost 5 t/ha or NPK fertilizer recommendation.
