Abstract

Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) incidence is 75% of all skin cancers. BCC rarely causing mortality, but morbidity is high. Clinical diagnostic is the early detection of BCC suspicion, therefore, we required specific criteria that help to establish the clinical diagnosis. The objective of this study was to know the clinical sign as a predictor of basal cell carcinoma. Ten patients with skin tumors who came to dermatovenereological department of Dr. Moewardi hospital were included in this study. Clinical diagnosis using clinical criteria from keratinocyte carcinoma in A Cancer Journal For Clinicians in 2011 (Teleangiectasion, raise border, erythematous with bleeding, pigmentation, translucent appearance, and scarlike appearance) was used as reference of clinical diagnostic criteria. Histopathological examination was performed as a gold standard. All 10 subjects had histopathological finding consistent to BCC. The clinical examination like pigmentation were found in all subjects while teleangiectasia, raise border, erythema with bleeding were found on 9 subject. Translucent appearance was found on 6 subjects. While scarlike appearance was absent in all subjects. The criteria from keratinocyte carcinoma in A Cancer Journal For Clinicians in 2011 can be used to diagnosed BCC clinicallyKeywords : Basal cell carcinoma, Clinical Diagnostic Criteria

Abstract

This research aim to know the descent of blood glucose rate by extract etanol 70% of bean leaf at male rabbit which induced glucose. Research using the method test glucose tolerance of oral was including category research of sham eksperimental with complete random attempt device of unidirectional pattern. This research use 20 male rabbits which divided in 5 treatment group. Group I given by CMC Na 1% as negative control, group II given by acarbose suspensi 2,33 mg/kgBB as positive control, group III, IV and V given by extract etanol 70% bean leaf with each dose 200, 300 and 450 mg/kgBB. Treatment given at once after test animal induced glucose 50% ( 5 ml/1,5 kgBB). Glucose blood rate to define every 30 minute, 0 minute until 300 minutes by using method of enzimatik GOD PAP (Glucose Oxidase Phenol Aminoantipyrina Peroxidase), what was later then analysed with one track Anava and continued by test of LSD (Least Significant Diffeerence) with trust level 95%. Extract etanol 70% bean leaf with dose 200, 300 and 450 mg/kgBB have effect descent of blood glucose rate to negative control of CMC Na 1% (p = 0,000) with each percentage descent of blood glucose rate (% PKGD) 80,88 ± 0,93 ; 82,73 ± 0,67 and 85,32 ± 0,21.Keyword : Extract etanol 70%, bean leaf (Phaseolus vulgaris L), degradation of glucose rate

Abstract

Red betel leaf contains flavonoids, alkaloids and essential oils that are suspected able to inhibit the growth of microbes. This study aims to analyze antimicrobial activity of ethanol extract of red betel leaf agains to Staphylococcus aureus, Eschericia coli and Candida albicans. Subjects were red betel leaf ethanol extract at concentration of 2.5%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, 80% and 100%. As a positive control used amoxycilin, chloramphenicol and ketoconazole. The study showed that concentration 10 % - 100 % inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. In Escherichia coli all the data obtained, having an average which is not much different from the mean of the negative control. While on Candida albicans average diameter of inhibition zone of extract concentration 40% p = 0.197 concluded that statistically has significant antifungal power compared with ketokonazole. Keywords: Ethanol extract, Piper Ruiz & Pav crocatum, Antimicrobial, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Candida albican

Abstract

Tempuyung (Sonchus arvensis) and salam (Syzygium polyanthum) leaves can lower uric acid levels were studied. The purpose of this research was to determine mechanism of combined o f tempuyung and salam extracts to reduce uric acid levels by inhibiting xanthine oxidase in hyperuricemic mice. This research used completely randomized design using mice. Fifteen mice were made hiperuricemic by 250 mg/kgBW potassium oxonate p.o then the mice were divided into 3 groups. Group I induced 10 mg/kgBW allopurinol p.o as positive control, group II induced tempuyung-salam p.o each 100 mg/kgBW as the treatment group, group th III induced 0.5 mL/20 gBW distilled water p.o as negative control. Liver was taken 4 day after 2 hours induced potassium oxonate. Data inhibition xanthine oxidase activity was tested with Mann-Whitney. The result showed that the combination of tempuyung-salam extract each 100 mg/kgBW could inhibit xanthine oxidase activity of 51,16%±2,76%, while allopurinol 90,20%±0,16% (p = 0.000).Keyword: Hyperuricemia, Xanthine Oxidase, Sonchus arvensis, Syzygium polyanthum

Abstract

Basophils are polymorphonuclear leukocytes that play an important role in immunity. Basophils can be activated by antibodies and other molecules. Basophils are able to recognize antigens of worms and give some responses. Basophils involvement in immunity againt worms are played by migratingto the worm infected tissue, trigger eosinophilia and eosinophil migration into the tissue, activating mast cells, triggering the formation of AAM, directing Th cell polarization toward Th2 cells, and triggers immunoglobulin class switching to produce IgE.Keywords:Basophil, Helminthiasis
