Abstract

Abstract

A study about the effect of biosorbent particle size on adsorption Pb ions from seeds and shell lengkeng (Euphoria longan lour) has been conducted. Shell and seeds lengkeng were activated with HNO3 and characterized by FTIR to analyze the mayor functional groups in biosorbent. The effect of seed and shell lengkeng (Euphoria longan lour) on the adsorption capacity of Pb (II) metal ions was carried out with variation 106 μm, 150 μm, 250 μm, and 300 μm. The results obtained from the particle size 106 μm of seed and shell lengkeng have a greater adsorpsition of 25,626 mg/g dan 30,095 mg/g respectively. This study shows that the biosorbent particle size afffects the amount of adsorption of metal ions

Abstract

Silica gel is a compound that has two active sides, namely silanol (Si-OH) and siloxane (Si-O-Si) which have not been effective as adsorbents so modifications are made. Silica gel is modified using monosodium salt 4-Amino-5-hydroxy-2,7-naphthalenedisulfonic acid which is reacted first with GPTMS (glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane) as a connecting bridge to produce sulfonate-modified silica gel-GPTMS adsorbent. The purpose of this modification is that sulfonate-modified silica gel-GPTMS are made to adsorb Ni2+ metal ions under optimum conditions at pH, contact time and concentration. The adsorption process is carried out using the batch method by seeing how much adsorbent adsorption capacity is made against the absorption of metal ions. The characterization used is an FTIR (Fourier Transform-Infrared) spectrophotometer in the analysis of the adsorbent manufacturing process and SSA (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry) to see the results of metal ion absorption. The results obtained according to research that has been conducted show the adsorption of sulfonate-modified silica gel-GPTMS against the absorption of Ni2+ metal ions at optimum conditions is at pH 3 and contact time for 45 with absorption capacities of 1.5265 mg/g and 1.5826 mg/g respectively.

Abstract

Chromium metal is a toxic and carcinogenic metal that needs to be addressed. Biosorption  can be used as one method to reduce lead metal level in waters. Biosorpsian is easy and simpler to use, more-ecomomial, and  environmentally friendly because it utilizes microorganisms and biomaterials. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of particle size and flow rate on the absorption of Cr6+ metal ions using langsat peel as a biosorbent. In this study, Cr6+metal ions biosorption  was carried out using langsat peel with column method at a particle size variation of 106, 150, 250 and 425µm  and a flow rate variation of 1-4 ml/min. the results of this study were obtained optimum conditions at particle size 106 µm and flow rate 2 mL/min with optimum adsorbtion capacity of 5,02363 and 6,96203 mg/g.

Abstract

In Indonesia, longan skin has not been widely used. Longan skin contains lignin which has good absorption ability. The cause of this research is to calculate the finest absorption capability of longan peel activated carbon against methylene blue dye using the batch method. The results confirmed that the optimum absorption ability for the absorption of methylene blue at pH 4, concentration of 600 ppm, and contact time of 120 minutes at a stirring speed of 200 rpm, and a mass of 0.2 grams was 69.0679 mg/g.

Abstract

Adsorption is the process of accumulation of atoms or ions in solution on the surface of a solid adsorbent. Silica gel can be used as an adsorbent because it has two groups of active sites, namely silanol (Si-OH) and siloxane (Si-O-Si). The active groups also allow silica to be modified. This modification was made to increase the ability of silica to adsorb ions, one of which is Pb2+ ion. The modifier compound used is a sulfonic salt (4-amino-5-hydroxy-2,7-naphthalenedisulfonic acid) with a glysidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) linking compound. The modified adsorbents were characterized by FTIR and the absorption results were characterized by AAS. The modified adsorbent was to determine the optimum conditions for adsorption of Pb2+ ions using silica sulfonate. Adsorption was carried out using the batch method. The optimum absorption conditions for Pb2+ metal ions using silica sulfonate were obtained at pH 3, contact time of 45 minutes.

Abstract

The high demand for cooking oil causes scarcity and increases the price of cooking oil in the market. Despite the scarcity, people still use it by heating it repeatedly. Cooking oil that has been used repeatedly is called used cooking oil which contains saturated fatty acids which will have a negative impact on health if reused. Therefore, this study aims to clarify used cooking oil by using carbon from moringa peels to improve the quality of used cooking oil. Moringa fruit peel contains cellulose and hemicellulose so that it can be used as a carbon source using the calcination method and tested for approximation such as tests for ash content, vapor content and bound carbon. Furthermore, carbon is applied in the clarification of used cooking oil by adsorption method. After the used cooking oil has been clarified, the properties of the used cooking oil are tested, such as density, flow rate, acid number and saponification number. The result of this research is that the resulting Moringa peel carbon at 250 - 350oC complies with the SNI 06-3730-2021 standard. The application of Moringa peel carbon in used cooking oil has been shown to reduce the density value to 0.886 g/mL, an acid number of 4.476 mg/KOH, and succeeded in increasing the value of the flow rate to 0.735 and the saponification number to 351.751 mg/KOH.
