Abstract

The study was conducted to determine whether the vegetation in the mangrove ecosystem, can be contrasted with another objectt, using Spectroradiometer HR-1024. The data used is data visible spectrum(400-700 nm)  which resulted in 204 bands. The analysis used is the integrated analysis with three levels. First, using ANOVA to determine significant differences in spectral reflectance between vegetation with water, wet soil and dry soil. Second, using Step wise Canonical Discriminant Analysis to identify the most sensitive band for discrimination reflection spectrum. This analysis which resulted in six bands are considered practical to distinguish vegetation with another object namely  401.5 nm, 416.9 nm, 508.2 nm, 599.3 nm, 660.3nm and 689.2 nm. Third using the Jeffries-Matusita separability index which resulted in the separation index of mangrove vegetation, water, wet soil and dry soil is 1.414.

Abstract

To support reforestation activities, spatially forestry data are inexorably needed to support the activities. By using multi –temporally data, reforestation activities an be identified and detected. To accomplish the purpose, this research uses Landsat TM data aquired in 1990 and 1995. Remotely sensed data and Geographyc Information System (GIS) are methods that can be applied to gather, monitor as well as analyse data swiftly and accurately. This research uses remotely sensed data to collect land cover features in given area. Geographyc information System is used to capture and to analyse reforestation data. The expected is GIS based forest management strategy making.

Abstract

Western part of the East Jawa Southern Mountains, which is distributed from Parangtritis, Yogyakarta to Pacitan Bay is the Gunung-Sewu Hills. The carbonate rocks on the Baron-Wonosari transect has some litofacies, and the soils overlying the rocks show some color varieties. Topography of Baron-Wonosari transect can be divided into two areas: southern part (Baron-Mulo) and northern part (Mulo-Wonosari). The southern part is a hilly land, whereas the northern part is a lowland plain. Soils on the southern part are dominated by red soils group, whereas on the northern part dominated by black soils group. The phenomenon is very interesting to be studied. The aim of research was to study relationship of soil colour with topography and pores of underlying carbonate rocks. Methods consist of landform especially topography observation, and soil colour by Munsell Soil Colour Chart, whereas laboratory analysis namely micro porosity and geochemical of carbonate rock. The results showed that micro pores of rocks have no effect to the soil colour formation. However, secondary pores (macro and mega) be suggested influent on red soil formation. Concentration of iron (Fe) and mangan (Mn) elements of carbonate rock have no effect on the formation of soil colour. Topography and rock secondary porosity be estimated have a role as controlling factors on the formation of soil colour by leaching process mechanism. An area, which has a high leaching capacity tend to be found much of red soils, whereas an area which has a low leaching capacity will be formed black soils.

Abstract

Approximately 40% of Jakarta is below sea level when the tide is in, which is referred to as a fluviomarine landform. This study aims: (a) to analyse the relationship between total income and household water demand, and (b) to analyse the relationship between total income and the proportion of groundwater utilization. It uses quantitative and qualitative analysis survey methods, as well as sampling methods, to represent the population. The population of this research is comprised of households that use groundwater on land units made from two classes of landform, two classes of settlement pattern, and three classes of settlement density. To determine the 30 wells, samples with proportional random sampling of the land units formed with groundwater samples have been taken at a radius of 100m from each well sample of 110 households. Quantitative and qualitative approaches have been used to prove the research aims. The analysis of this study indicates that the total income is proportional to household water demand but that it is inversely proportional to the share of groundwater utilization. The results also show that groundwater is not the only source to fulfil household water demand, and that it is necessary to utilize other sources of water.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the features of soil forms on PKS derived from the data which are related to the erosions that happen. Based on this, the location of the priority of the soil conservation can be chosen. The research geomorphologic hazard method applied in this study is the continuation of the previous research which has yielded the study of soil form area. The result of that study is combined to other data to know IBE which covers topography, slope area, the count, it can be determined the priority of the soil conservation based on the delineation of the soil forms which are interpreted from remote sensing data especially the aerial photograph. The conclusion are 1) the choice of the priority of soil conservation and cultivating plants an be done by knowing IBE; 2) the degree of priority of the soil conservation and plant cultivation in PKS depend on the spreads of the soil forms. The soil forms happened is the features of the difference of rock formations, litology, the degree of erosion, landslide, and the process of diafirism. The priority sequences of the loations of the soil conservation and plant cultivation are S3 dan S4 followed by S5, s1, S2, and finally F1.

Abstract

The low family income, lack of job vacancy other than farmland, the narrow square of land possession, and the high level of household load encourage women deciding to migrate to Malang as an effort to support their household economic welfare improvement. The aim of this research is to find and reveal any condition which causes migrant women household to decide migrating to Malang. The research result shows that demography variables (age, marriage status, and the amount of household load) have significant effect toward migrant womens decision making to migrate to Malang. Also, social-economic variable (migrant women education, household income, farmland square, and type of the job) affects migrant womens decision making to migrate to Malang significantly; but, job vacancy in origin area does not bring significant effect toward migrant womens decision making to migrate to Malang.

Abstract

Landslide Hazard Zonationin South Sulawesi. Landslides are natural disasters that can cause substantial loss in the form of life and properties. Therefore, it is necessary to inventory landslide-vulnerable areas. A weighted summation model (Dibyosaputro, 1998) was applied to determine the landslide-vulnerable areas in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Factors that trigger the landslides are geology (rock properties, stratigraphy, structural geology, weathering level and earthquake), climate (rainfall), soil (solum thickness), topography (slope), vegetation (vegetation density) and human (land use); Siagian & Sugalan (in Sutikno, 1991) in combination with Dibyosaputro (1998). There are five classes of landslide vulnerability i.e. invulnerable, fairly vulnerable, quite vulnerable, vulnerable, and very vulnerable. In general, South Sulawesi is quite vulnerable to landslides, but there are three regencies very vulnerable for landslides; Luwu, Northern Luwu and Northern Toraja.Keyword : landslide, South Sulawesi.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mendapatkan harmonik-harmonik yang memberi sumbangan terhadap ragam data hujan tahunan rata-rata pada Stasiun Pujon dan Ngantang di DAS Kali Konto Hulu, Jawa Timur, sehingga dapat disusun persamaan Deret Fourier. Data utama ialah data hujan tahunan rata-rata di Pujon selama 26 tahun (1951-1988) dan Ngantang selama 29 tahun (1960-1988). Tahap analisis data adalah uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, rata-rata bergerak, dan analisis harmonik. Hasil uji normalitas dan homogenitas menunjukkan bahwa data di kedua, stasiun menyebar normal dan homogen, sedangkan rata-rata bergerak polynomial menggunakan orde-9 adalah paling sesuai dengan data asli. Analisis harmonik data hujan stasiun Pujon menunjukkan tiga harmonik. Sumbangan ragam terjadi pada harmonik III sebesar 61% dan diikuti oleh Harmonik I dan II masing-masing mempunyai ragam 4% dan 2%. Kurva Harmonik pada stasiun Ngantang relatif hampir sama antara harmonik I, II dan III dengan sumbangan ragam berturut-turut sebesar 7%, 4% dan 3%. Dengan demiktan dapat disusun dua persamaan deret Fourier untuk kedua stasiun tersebut.

Abstract

The study of impact of the banker of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) on groundwater is carried out in Sambungmacan Sragen. The banker is made of concrete cement and it is located in the settlement area. This bunker causes obstruction for population, such as the smell bad, many died cassava, plants, and well pollution. The source of these obstruction is the leakage that permeates on groundwater used for drinking water. The aims of this study are know 1) the apportion of the groundwater pollution; 2) the level of groundwater pollution of drinking water. The result of the study shows that POC has permeated two population’s wells that are located in radius eight meters. The water of wells is muddy and smells bad. Finally the well in north side of the banker is not used anymore, while the well in the west side of the banker, its water is still fresh after it has been drained twice. After the banker of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) is not be used anymore and the well which is polluted by POC has been drained, cause of that, the quality of groundwater in the research area generally still fullfills the requirement of drinking water, except the well in north side of the banker because it is polluted (the smell and color). So that, classification groundwater pollution in research area is still in very low level.

Abstract

Temperature plays a major role in detecting climate change brought about by urbanisation and industrialisation. Most climatic impact studies rely on changes in the average values of meteorological variables such as temperature. This paper attempts to study the temporal changes in the mean value of the air surface temperature over Jakarta city during the last century, specifically in the period 1901–2002.The data used in this study were taken from the Jakarta Climatology Station because they are of are good quality, there are extensive records and there is little missing or blank data. Statistic descriptive methods were employed, including a description of the type of probabilistic model chosen to represent the monthly mean air surface temperature time series. The long-term change in temperature was evaluated using the Mann-Kendall trend test method and the statistical linear trend test; the results of these two tests agreed. During the last 100 years, data observations from the station indicate that the monthly mean value of the air surface temperature of Jakarta city has increased at a rate of about 0.152°C decade–1 and has not exhibited variability signals but has changed on average. Based on the linear regression model, the mean value of the air surface temperature over Jakarta city is estimated to reach around 28.5°C in 2050 and 29.23°C in 2100.
