Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the potential erosion qualitatively by using SES by using Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems in Kedung Ombo’s catchment area so it can be determined which areas of priority should be conserved. The method used is qualitatively analyses through SES method (Soil Erosion Status).) Which is calculated based on five parameters are: slope direction (aspect), slope (slope gradient), the density of the river (drainage density), soil type (Soil types), and land use (landuse/landcover). The result shows that DTW Kedung Ombo has three classes of erosion, which is very low, low and medium. Amounted to 41179.08 ha or 71.31% of the total DTW Kedung Ombo erosion potential is still relatively mild, 13956.01 ha (24.17%), erosion potential is very low and 2608.95 ha (4:52%) were classified as potential erosion.

Abstract

Coastal city of Semarang is susceptible to the impact of coastal hazard due to its flat topographic condition. Various environmental problems are faced by Semarang involve tidal inundation, land subsidence, and floods during rainy season. This study was conducted to examine the potential economic losses caused by the sea level rise phenomenon. Distribution of inundated area mapped using Digital Elevation Model and Land Subsidence data. The Scenarios of International Panel on Climate Change (2007) sea level rises used to build a model of inundated area that notes by 2030 the rise of sea level rise at 13.4 cm. The inundated map was overlayed with landuse map to calculate the potential economic losses. The results show that the inundated area that occurred in 2030 was 1,718.2 ha with the potential economic losses Rp. 6,130 trillion. With the land subsidence scenario that happen at the area, inundated area increased to 5,171.3 ha with the eonomic potential loss about Rp. 28,724 trillion.

Abstract

Registrasi penduduk merupakan sumber data kependudukan yang sangat penting untuk tujuan keamanan dan perencanaan pembangungan kependudukan. Data ini disamping mencakup wilayah yang luas (lingkup Nasional), juga menyajikan data yang selalu baru dan kontinue sehingga dapat memenuhi kebutuhan data pada suatu saat. Ketersediaan data dan informasi kependudukan yang akurat dan tepat waktu merupakan unsur mutlak dalam perencanaan pembangunan. Data penduduk dari sumber ini disamping dapat digunakan untuk mengevaluasi program-program pembangunan yang telah berjalan, juga dapat digunakan untuk analisis jangka panjang dan yang lebih penting untuk perencanaan pembangunan kependudukan. Namun demikian, hingga kini sumber data tersebut belum dapat dimanfaatkan secara optimal sebubungtm dengan kendala kualitas dan kekomplitannya. Pemerintah telah berupaya meningkatkan kualitas data registrasi agar dapat dimanfaatkan untuk kesejahteraan penduduk.

Abstract

Land authority and imbalance of income distribution are always be an interesting issue for an importance role of land in society. It is interesting and necessary to find out how contribution of agricultural sector to farmer income and what effect of land authority imbalance to income distribution. This research was conducted at Temon and Keduang sub watershed. Survey method was adapted to collect the field data. Afterward, the collected data was analyzed quantitatively. The result indicated that the contribution of agricultural sector to farmer income at Temon sub watershed (69.39%) was hhigher than at Keduang sub watershed (59.11%). This showed that narrow in land authority will be increasing the contribution of agricultural sector to total income. It related to diversify efforts of land using. Imbalance of land authority not always affected the income imbalance, caused by development of non agricultural sector. Land access only was unfeasible to be an indicator of farmers household income level without considering the biophysics condition and non agricultural sector growth development.

Abstract

From 2009 to 2015, the growth of tourism in the tourist villages (desa wisata) of Karimunjawa underwent rapid progress. However, the level of poverty in Karimunjawa remained high. Nevertheless, the involvement of rural people in the sustainable development of tourism has received only limited discussion. Therefore, this article discusses the rural communities’ adaptation and resilience in Karimunjawa with the support of sustainable development planning in tourist villages. It covers the background of sustainable development, the elements of the communities’ adaptive capacity and resilience, and the role of the regional government. Empirical evidence of variations in the capacity to respond to changes of socioeconomic and ecological environments due to tourism development is presented. In addition, a case study is used in this article to describe how the people learned from their experience, knowledge, and past efforts. To obtain the necessary information, in-depth interviews were conducted with a number of key informants in the tourist villages of Karimunjawa, which were selected via purposive and snowball sampling. The results of the research show that social resilience will increase among those communities that are capable of accessing flexible social networks. These social networks are practical tools that open up the dissemination of new information and knowledge. This is a key element for a stronger process of transformation. Furthermore, communities that have capital and financial access as well as skills will also be capable of adaptation to the transformation process.

Abstract

While the geological study of sedimentary sand point bar of river is scientifically attractive, economically sedimentary sand is a material for the building. The sedimentary sand point frequency contains metal and nonmetal prescripitation that has a highly economical value. It also functions as a reservoir of good rock water, because it has  good porosity and permeability. The sedimentary sand point bar of Bengawan Solo that has been for 600.000 years ago in Ngloram-epu, has the thickness approximately around 5 – 25 m, grown horisontally around 5 – 7 km, and located  > 50 km2 which covers Ngloram-Wado-Kedungtuban. The sandy rock functioned as a good groundwater reservoir rock. The sand point bar in Bengawan Solo is precipitated on the stairs of Bengawan Solo that is situated on the clay rock having tongue formation. The water of reservoir point bar is expected to fulfill the needs of 100.000 inhabitants in Cepu and the cities around.

Abstract

Generally the broader rural settlement the heavier population pressure on agricultural land. It indicates that carrying capacity of the rural environment threatened lower. The spatial distribution of the threat in a river basin is quite important as one of the river basin management inputs. Therefore, this article aims at exposing result of research about influence rural population growth and rural settlement land changes to environment carrying capacity. This research was carried out in the rural area in Progo river basin consists 56 sub districts (34 sub districts part of Jawa Tengah Province, and 22 sub districts part of Yogyakarta Special Region). The whole sub districts are such as unit analysis, and research method is based on secondary data analysis. Several data consist Districts Region in Figure 1997 and 2003 (Temanggung, Magelang, Kulon Progo, Sleman and Bantul) such as secondary data analysis. Data analysis employs of frequency and cross tabulation, statistics of regression and test. Result of the research shows that population growth of the rural areas in Progo river basin are about 0.72% annum; or the household growth about 3.15% annum as long as five years (1996-2003). Spatial distribution of the population growth in the upper part of the Progo river basin is higher than in the middle and lower part of the basin. The number proportion of farmer in every sub district area in this river basin have increased from 69.95% in 1997 to 70.81% in the year of 2003. It means that work opportunities broadening are still sluggish. However, the number proportion of farmers in the upper part of the Progo river basin is lower than in the middle and lower part of the basin. The rates of settlement land areas changes (0.32 ha/annum) as long as five years (1997-2003) is not as fast as the rates of agricultural land areas changes (0.47 ha/annum). Spatial land settlement areas changes in the lower (6.1 ha/annum) and middle parts (2.4 ha/annum) faster than upper part of the river basin, as a consequence the different accessibility to urban area. Environment carrying capacity of every sub district areas in this river basin becomes lower as long as five years (1997-2003). In the upper part of the basin however, the index of environment carrying data (0.13) higher than in the lower part of this river basin (0.09), especially in the several sub districts surrounding urban area. The environment carrying capacity of Progo river basin depends on the land settlement and the growth of household number changes. However, influence of the land settlement area changes is stronger than the growth of household number changes to the environment carrying capacity. This result of research shows that spatial and temporal characteristics of settlement environment degradation in the lower and middle parts wider than in the upper part of Progo river basin in the coming twenty five of years.

Abstract

The research was conducted at the Upper Bengawan Solo Catchment, which was categorized as critical catchment. The problems of flood and drought became the main issue, and need to be handled sooner, therefore it need hydrological modelling to coupe the problems. As we know that the role of rainfall as an input to the model is very significant parameter in generating output (discharge), then the objective of this research is to know the rainfall characteristics. The rainfall distribution in the research area can be known by doing the spatial analysis, especially using Kriging method. It does the rainfall mapping for a certain duration to describe the spatial rainfall distribution. It uses the rainfall data from 20 rainfall stations with 5 minutes interval recording. It does the inter-stations correlation analysis on the amount of rainfall and the distance of inter-stations. The significant level used in this study is 5%. The result shows the tendency that the more of the station number decreased, the smaller the rainfall correlation coefficient inter-stations are. It can be meant that the numbers of the rainfall stations in catchment area have optimum number of gauge. The coverage area for each station is 13 km2 when we use 5’s minute interval data. Most of the rainfall which have intensity > 30 mm/hr occur at minute 20th to 125th. As much as 17.5% of these rainfall have randomly distribution. There is a significant relationship (R2=65.2%) between daily maximum rainfall and minimum values of inter-stations correlation coefficient Base on above results it is very important to consider that in chosing the size of catchment area for hydrological modeling it should be related with its rainfall chracteristics.

Abstract

Hydrologic modelling has been developing and it is usefull for basic data in managing water resources. The aim of the reseach is to estimate volume runoff, maximum discharge, and soil erosion with SCS, Rational, and MUSLE models on Keduang Watershed. Explain the data analysis, and flow to get the data. SCS parameters model use are: runoff, rainfall, deferent between rainfall runoff. The deferent rainfall between runoff relationship kurva Runoff Coefisient (Curve Nunmber/CN). This Coefisient connected with Soil Hydrology Group (antecedent moisture content/AMC), landuse, and cultivation method. Rational parameters model use are: runoff coefisient, soil type, slope, land cover, rainfall intensity, and watershed areas. MUSLE parameters model use are: rainfall erosifity (RM), soil erodibility (K), slope length (L), slope (S), land cover (C), and soil conservation practice (P). The result shows that the conservation service models be applied Keduang Watershed, Wonogiri is over estimed abaut 29.54 %, Rational model is over estimed abaut 49.96 %, and MUSLE model is over estimed abaut 48.47 %.

Abstract

The increasingly growth of population and industry sector have lead to an enhanced demand for electrical energy. One of the electricity providers in the area of Java-Madura Bali (Jamali) is Saguling Reservoir. Saguling Reservoir is one of the three reservoirs that stem the flow of Citarum River in advance of to Jatiluhur and Cirata Reservoir. The average electricity production of Saguling Reservoir was 2,334,318.138 MWh/year in the period of 1986-2014. The water intake of Saguling Reservoir is the upstream Citarum Watershed with an area of 2340.88 km2 which also serves as the irrigation, inland fisheries, recreation, and other activities. An effort to improve the function of Saguling Reservoir in producing electrical energy is by optimizing the reservoir management. The optimization of Saguling Reservoir management in this study refers to Government Regulation No. 37/2010 on Dam/Reservoir Article 44 which states that the system of reservoir management consisting of the operation system in dry years, normal years, and wet years. In this research, the determination of the trajectory guideline in Saguling operation was divided in dry, normal and wet years. Trajectory guideline was conducted based on the electricity price of turbine inflow that various in every month. The determination of the trajectory guideline in various electricity price was done by using Program Dynamic Bellman (PD Bellman) and “Du Couloir” iterative method which the objective to optimize the gain from electricity production. and “Du Couloir” iterative method was development of PD Bellman that can calculate the value of gain with a smaller discretization until 0,1 juta m3 effectively where PD Bellman just calculate until 10 million m3.  Smaller discretization can give maximum benefit from electricity production and the trajectory guideline will be closer to trajectory actual so optimization of Saguling operation will be achieved.
