Abstract

Approach on the study of rural service development is often confused with general regional development study in which both development indicators are interchanged. However the two study are closely related and able to contribute one to another. A confusion also exist in the setting up of the concepts of social services, economic services, and infrastructures functions. As such, the study of service development should have a great care of the study implication in  which sectoral action planning should follow up. This article tries to present an operational approach on the rural service development with an ilustrative case study of Yogyakarta Special Region.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the need of the urban forest area as sink (sequestration) of CO2 gas from fuel oil and gas in Bogor City. Analysis of dynamic system is used to determine the need. Powersim software with the license number PSSL-N999998-5NC2Y was used in this research. Satellite imagery in 2003, 2005 and 2007 were used to analyze the extent of green space and built space as well as percentage changes. This study revealed that the urban forest area required as well as the number of seedlings are varies according to time and the sink rate. Therefore, the selection of tree species based on the sink rate should really be considered. By using the very high-sink rate trees, the area needed for this purpose will be smaller and can also make lower the ambient concentration. On the other hand, when the use of high-sink trees, the ambient concentration of this gas will increase again and the urban forest area that needed will be larger.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are as  follows: first, to investigate the contributing parameters induced land sliding in the Budong-Budong watershed, and second, to construct landslide susceptibility zonation map.  In this study, the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) based on Geographical Information System (GIS) methods was used to produce map of landslide susceptibility. In this study area, more than 50% of total area were classified high (H) to very high (VH)  susceptibility landslide zone.  Mean while, 12% of total area were classified as  moderate (M)  and remaining were classified as  low (L) to very low (VL) susceptibility landslide zone. Almost area of Budong-Budong Wetershed were classified as VH and H susceptibility landslide zone underlying by Talaya (Tmtv), Lamasi (Toml) and Latimojong (Kls) Formation on the steep slope land.

Abstract

Tulisan ini bertujuan membicarakan pernanan foto udara dalam perencanaan kota. Menurut Northam (1979) ada tujuh elemen dalam perencanaan kota,yakni: (1) studi kependudukan, (2) studi perumahan, (3) studi ekonomi, (4) studi penggunaan lahan, (5) studi transportasi, (6) perencanaan ruang terbuka dan tempat rekreasi, dan (7) fasilitas pemerintah dan fasilitas umum. Ada bebarapa variabel dalam setiap elemen perencanaan kota yang tidak dapat disadap dari foto udara. Namun demikian foto udara sangat membantu dalam perolehan data, deteksi perubahan dan analisis perubahannya, karena foto udara menyajikan bentuk dan lokasi obyek yang mirip dengan bentuk dan lokasinya di permukaan bumi.

Abstract

Popular participation is a determinant indicator of reforestation. The important of it is due to the fact, that the people who will take the conservation innovation, adopt the technology, and bear the impact of conservation. However, there are many cases indicate the failure of reforestation project because of low popular participation. In this regard, this research is conducted to expose spatially the people knowledge, perception, and participation on reforestation. This research is carried out in the Gunungkidul district employing survey method primary data is collected from 180 rspondents are households who as participant of reforestation project, and household who are classified as self sufficient. The respondent sample is selected on the basis of stratified random sampling, according to physiography and the existing of forestation programme of the area. Three villages sample selected in this research are 1) Tegalrejo, in the physiography of Baturagung Range; 2) Gedangrejo, in the physiography of Wonosari Plateau; 3) Banjarejo, in the physiography of Gunungsewu Mountain. The measurement of people knowledge, perception, and participation on reforestation is performed through Likert Scale technique. Data analysis makes use of tabulation statistic technique espeially t test, variance, and rank correlation.The result of research shows that most people gain the reforestation knowledge from Foresty Extension Service or RLKT, whereas the knowledge of the larger part of self sufficient household comes from village officers. Though the category of their degree of knowledge are high, however there are quiet different according to physiography area. This fact determines the level of popular participation in the perspective physiography unit. It means that the higher the degree of knowledge on reforestation leads to the higher the perception on forestation. Moreover, the different in physiography of the area, or participation in the project determines also the difference in perception. The degree of popular participation on self sufficient reforestation or reforestation project is high. Popular participation is varied to either physiography condition or among participant of reforestation project. Participation of participant of reforestation project is higher than participation of self sufficient group.  The difference in the involvement of every reforestation of ativities (planning, implementation, and the use of out come) is  a direct consequence of the different in physical as well as socio – economic condition of the community. Physical constraints of up land area, and low level of socio – economic condition, have stimulated popular participation on reforestation. In addition, the level of popular participation is very much influenced by knowledge on reforestation and perception on reforestation. This means that, the higher the knowledge of farmer on implementation and utilization of reforestation and the higher the farmer perception on reforestation programme, then the higher the level of farmer participation on reforestation in eah different physiography.

Abstract

Inclusive development is meant to accommodate the marginalised people, most of whom are the poor with the problem of fulfilling their need for housing. The government has tried hard to meet the need of housing by constructing rusunawa. This paper is aimed at describing the provision and uses of rusunawa, both in cities and peri-urban area by studying the cases in the City of Yogyakarta, Sleman Regency, and Bantul Regency. The study was conducted by doing observation and both structured and in-depth interviews. The research results show that rusunawa were viewed as one solution to help a low-income family in fulfilling their need for housing. In some cases in the City of Yogyakarta, rusunawa plays an essential role in preventing the settlement along both sides of rivers from becoming slum areas. Rusunawa in both Regencies of Sleman and Bantul is located near the city, so it is easy for the settlers to get to their workplace. The construction of rusunawa has also paid attention to the disabled by providing exceptional facilities. The same case is providing a playground for children and facilities for early education for young kids. However, there have not been special facilities for the elderly and pregnant women.

Abstract

Indonesian industry is likely to snap because it relies on the monopolitic conglomerate’s industry so that it cause the inter relationship between big and smaller units of industry to become weak. The weakness of the industrial relationship is caused by the units independetly. This is different from the industry which is based on community concept emphasizing a main priority to close inter relationship between the units. This research was arried out in Trangsan, Gatak, Sukoharjo, Central Java. Where there is a industrial community which has been a close inter relationship since long time ago. The goal of this research is to know the type and the nature of unit inter relationship in rattan industrial community in Trangsan, and know the strategy how it faced a nationally economical crisis.This research used a survei method. The number of the population was 110 entrepreneurs from Trangsan. The sample was obtained with stratied into three categories, based on number of labour force. Every category was taken 20% as sample based on homogeneity sample, ana the respondent was examined with random sampling. The collected data were presented in frequency and cross table. The analysis of qualitative data used logical rationale, deductive – inductive, analogy and comparison, while the analysis of quantitative data used the analysis of frequency and cross table. The use of these two analysis was the result of the research.These are the result of the research: 1) a inter relationship among small – scalled businesses; 2) there is a weak inter relationship between small and medium scaled industries; 3) the business inter relationship of rattan industries is subcontract in which a part of the big scaled industry’s job is reponsible for the small saled one; 4) the form of the business inter relationship is cooperative; 5) the main strategy of rattan industry community to face nationally economical orisis strengthens their business inter relationship.

Abstract

Dayak Meratus tribe is the native tribe that lives in the forest area of Meratus Mountain. Biological basic data on plant biodiversity in the area, particularly plants utilized by Dayak Meratus tribe, have not been much discovered. The research are: (1) to discover the traditional characteristic and knowledge of Dayak Meratus tribe, (2) to determine the priority of plants to be conserved, (3) to study local government policy in the forest resources management and, (4) to determine the strategy of priority plants conservation. Research was conducted at Meratus Mountain forest area, Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency and Herbarium Bogoriense, Biological Research and Development Center of LIPI, Bogor, from July to September 2002. Determination of priority plants is based on 4 criteria: (1) Index of Cultural Significance that consists of three value, that are: quality of use, intensity of use, exclusivity of use, (2) Distribution, (3) Status in the nature area (wild, semi domesticated, domesticated/cultivated), and (4) the characteristic of use/utilization by the community (commercial, subsistence). The number of plant species used by Dayak Meratus Tribe is 240 species of 18 use characteristic, 2 species endemic, 14 species rare, 111 species have more than one utilization function, 20 medicinal plants can be used as a consideration in changing the status of protected forest to conservation areas with status of national park.

Abstract

Magma activities on earth surface cause dynamic of volcanic morphology from the volcanic cone up to fluvial volcanic plain. The changing of morphology is always followed by different slope, composition and thickness of material, and break of slope. This geomorphological conditions result in groundwater emerges forming spring belt. Accordingly, wether such phenomena are also the case in the west slope of Lawu volcano is investigated in this reseach. Hydrogeomorphology approach is applied to study of the spring characteristic and distribution in the research area. The result research shows that the distribution pattern of springs in the west slope of Lawu volcano is not like spring belt perfectly, like the strato volcano generally. It is caused by erosion processes, mass wasting intensively, Lawu fault and other faults. Most springs flow on the volcanic slope and volcanic foot morphology.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the potency of land water in the post tectonic earchquake at Merapi slope in Klaten regency, Central Java. This research applies a survey method. The result of analysis is made based on the trilinier diagram, Stiff pattern, and the quality standard of drinking water. The collected data are in the form of land form, shallow land water data, suppressed land water, and well or spring. The results of the sesearch show that 1) the land form in Klaten is divided into four sets of landform, they are peak and slope of volcano, feet of volcano, fluvial palin under volcano, and a set of structural morphology. 2) The potency of land water can be tested based on the amount of land water and the quality of land water. The amount of land water in Klaten regency 260,502,274 m3/year or 727,618,722 liter/day. The amount of land water above is taken from free land water 73,301,436 m3/year, suppressed land water 34,138,520 m3/year, and land water taken from well or spring 153,062,784 m3/year. The quality of shallow land water in Klaten regency is proper to consume. 3) The distribution of upland water potency happens in the feet volcano land form, the potency of medium land water happens in the superficial of fluvial under volcano land form, and the potency of lowland water happens in the slope volcano land form and in the structural range of hills at Bayat subdistrict, 4) The tectonic earthquake gives serious effect toward morphological changes, land split, land subsident and the potency of land water in the fluvial plain of land form under volcano and structural range of hills in the area of Bayat subdistrict, and 5) In 2008, the needs of drinking water in Klaten regency is predicted around 1,164,000 people x 150 liter/day = 174,600,000 liter/day.
