Abstract

Makalah ini bermaksud untuk mengemukakan pemikiran yang berkaitan dengan upaya pemerintah dalam memindahkan penduduk dari daerah- daerah tertentu ke daerah-daerah permukiman baru. Pada umumnya perhatian pemerintah selalu tertuju pada daerah-daerah tujuan saja, tidak banyak memikirkan kondisi wilayah asal para pemukim. Ketimpangan ini jelas akan menimbulkan dampak negatif terhadap tingkat kemapanannya. Beberapa model pemukiman dengan mempertimbangkan daerah asal dan tujuan pemukiman menjadi sorotan utama makalah ini. Dari pemahaman konsep pemukiman inilah diharapkan terkondisinya paradigma baru untuk perencanaan pemukiman, sehingga program transmigrasi dapat dilaksanakan dengan baik.

Abstract

Geographical Information System (GIS) modelling using vector data is a commonly used method of modelling offering simple data input and analysis. However, the vector-data model assumes homogeneity in mapping units based on subjectively applied classification and simplification, and this may lead to over-simplification and consequent reduction in the variety of information obtained and uncertainty in results. This research aimed at refining the suitability modelling for sea cucumber (Holothuria scabra) using fully raster-based data for the waters of Kiowa Bay, Kahyapu village in the district of Enggano, North Bengkulu, Indonesia. Using a GIS, all parameters affecting suitability for sea cucumber were rasterised to improve compatibility. The relevant data includes nine parameters of sea water namely acidity, depth, current velocity, temperature, salinity, brightness, dissolved oxygen concentration, condition of the sea floor, and coastal protection of the area. These parameters were surveyed in the field at 51 stations and each parameter was then digitized and interpolated (using Kriging method) to create a continuous raster-dataset. Correlation analysis was then conducted to check parameter correlation. Parameters with a correlation coefficient of 0.75 were excluded from further analysis since results could be derived from the remaining parameter set. Principal component analysis (PCA) was then applied to ascertain the weight of each component. Furthermore, scree plotting was employed to choose which principal components were relevant for insertion into the formula of suitability. The final result was then compared to the map of suitability from the analysis of vector-based data as the reference data set. The research results showed that this method can be used to locate areas that are suitable for sea cucumber farming. The suitability map for sea cucumber generated from the analysis using fully raster-based data displayed less uncertainty than the suitability map generated using vector-based data.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to find the most suitable soil conservation practice that may be applied to control landslide hazard. In order to achieve that objective, some research steps must be done, are: (1) to identify the land characteristics of the study area that is based on the understanding of some factors that caused and triggered the landslide hazard, i.e.: slope morphology, rocks/soils characteristics, climatic condition, and landuse; (2) to study the types of landslide that occurs in every landforms and determine the area having ideal landslide form; The proposed landslide in this research is the process of masswasting down-slope as a result of the gravitation action on materials being sliding. The landslide types is including creep, slide, slump, and rocks/soils fall. The methods that being applied in the research include field survey methods and the method for determining landslide hazard by using geographic information techniques. Field survey method was intended to characterize the location of every landslide that have been happened in the study area. The results of field survey were applied as materials for determinating the grade of landslide hazard. Scorring and weighting methods of factors that influence landslide was apllied to determine the grade of landslide hazard. Scor and weight were not same for every parameters used for evaluation. The result of field research shows that landslide happen in every landform unit The study area can be devided into 9 landform unit. The landform units are differentiated into the landslide hazard classes, the study area there were found 5 classes of landslide hazard, namely: (1) vary low hazard equal to 16,65% (1 landform unit); (2) low hazard equal to 7,63% (1 landform unit); (3) medium hazard equal to 37,58% (3 landform unit); (4) high hazard equal to 25,41% (2 landforms unit); and (5) highest hazard equal to 12,73% (2 landform unit). Evaluation of landslide hazard shows hat most of study area have high risk to slide as a result of complex interaction between many factors of landslide.

Abstract

Kokap sub district is located in Kulonprogo District, Yogyakarta Province. It has some problems of landslides and misuse of land. The research was proposed to determine the regions having potential of land degradation based on the land capability and population pressure analysis. This research was carried out using field survey. The field survey was based on landform unit as area sampling unit. The (Land Classification and Land Use Planning) LCLP software was applied for land capability classification. The Soemarwoto method was applied for the evaluation of population pressure on the agriculture land. The results of this research were: (1) land capability in the study area was varies from class II – class VII with limitation factors of slope, soil erodibility, soil texture, soil permeability and soil effective depth, (2) the whole study area fell into high population pressure class (that means it had exceed of its land capability), (3) most of the study area (51.9%) had been classified into high potential of land degradation.

Abstract

This paper  tries to analyze of prognosis of the Integrated Tourism Area Planning of Kapuknnaga Beach (KWTPK) Tangerang Regency West Java. The two method applied to compose the prognosis are extrapolation and indication. The extrapolation is based on the local area infomation data of contemporary knowledge in the past and presence, while the indication method utilizes the whole interrelation activities programmed with the possible consequences. Land function transformation effects of KWTPK will cause environmental destroy as annual flsh flood, salt water intrusion and polution of urban’s industry sewage. As further effect there is a raising of turbidity and nitrition degree of sedimentation which make coral-ridge degradation toward annihilation. The coral-ridge annihilation will cause the sea waves power collide with the seashore area directly which threatens KWTPK.

Abstract

Population living in highly densed settlements in urban area is considered vulnerable to earthquake risk due to limited space exists in the area. To reduce population risks to aftershock earthquake in highly dense settlements, this paper applied simple simulation based on supply-demand concepts in order to understand carrying capacity of current open space for people to evacuate. The case study takes place in one of the most densed populated areas in Bandung City under aftershock earthquake.. The research integrates multi-sources of data: sattelite image, building footprint and GPS field survey to produce detailed landuse. The results show that open spaces that exist in the study area is not able to contain all residents when an aftershock occurs. Finally, this paper recommends some strategies that are necessary to reduce the risks in highly densed urban areas.

Abstract

The objective of the study was to evaluate the performance of Tuntang Catchment based on water quantity and quality area ranging from its upstream to downstream. The method used to determine the water quantity was by carrying out ground study on water discharge in the dry season (June 2011) in the research site, while the water quality was determined by conducting a laboratory analysis on the samples obtained from the sites in both the rainy and dry season (January and June 2011). The results indicated that the quantity of water discharge in Tuntang River was categorized “good”, although it was utilized for many uses such as irrigation, hydropower, and drinking water. Most of water discharges were mainly supplied from the upstream of Rawa Pening Lake. The water quality determined from the parameters of total dissolved solids, conductivity, pH, phosphate, and nitrate could be classified as “good”, meanwhile, the turbidity and dissolved oxygen were classified as “poor”.

Abstract

Bandung regency is one of the cities with many environmental problems oc like other cities in Indonesia. These problems are the continues increasing the number and density of population, and the increasing increased industrial and transportation. On the other hard, the forest area and green open space in Bandung Regency continues to decline. This causes increased air pollution and air temperature. The problems can be sowed with micro climate reparation in Bandung regency using urban forest in order to improve the climate conditions (amelioration) efficiently and effectively.

Abstract

Recently, the long term development in Indonesia has changed agricultural sector to the industrial sector. This development can apparently harm our own people. This is due to the waste that is produced from factories. The waste from various factories seems to have different characteristics. This defference encourages us to be able to find out different of methods of managing waste so that cost can be reduced, especially in water treatment. In order that industrial development and environmental preservation can run together in balance, many institutions involved should be consider, especially in the industrial chain, the environment, and human resource, these three elements can be examined in terms of their tolerance to waste.

Abstract

One of the chronicle problem in the disaster control of volcano eruption is the resettlement of relocated or transmigrated people to prohibitive region of the volcano. The more serious problem is happened when some of the labourers sand and stone mining living in those prohibitive region. Starting from those stated sttlement problem, this research aims at exposing the change, process, and continuity of setlement in the prohibitive region. This study employs so called sampling technique. Quota sampling is carried out according to village type. Two agricultural and mining village types in the prohibitive region are selected representing the sampling areas, encompassed administrative divisions of Srumbung subdistrict. The number of respondents are 60 households, selected unproportionally based on the village type. Primary data is collected diret communication with informants are key persons. Data analysis employs frequenccy and cross tabulation, and t test analysis. The study reveals that settlement changes in prohibitive region of Merapi vulcano has been fluctuatively recorded since 1006 based on the strength of Merapi vulcano eruption. However intensively settlement changes as an impact of the Merapi vulcano eruption have been recorded sine 1930 up to 1975 followed by more than 1742 people be dead as a victims and environment deterioration. The eruptions in 1954 and 1969 have resulted in drastically changes of physical and administrative condition village of Kaligesik and Gimal. At least 9 hamlets in both villages have been destroyed by ‘nue ardente’ and cold lava. Those eruptions have than change the administrative status of villages to be. Resettlement process within two hamlets in prohibitive region have taken place due to differences in origin area of the shelter, motivation to settle, and settlement pattern. Those two settle in mining villages are mining are mining labourer and mostly comes from outer subdistricts or districts, whereas those who stay in agriculture village are local people. The latter mostly joined transmigration program, which are supposed to stay in outer islands. A part from origin area, the difference of two settlers is also indicated by motivation. Economic motives are more dominant for those who settle in mining village than those who settle in agriculture village. The latter tend to have social motives to stay. The difference in settlement pattern between the vilages lays in ‘intermediary settlement’. This means that mining settlers have previously stayed in transmigration area. The duration to stay is between 15 to 20 years as compared to mining settlers whose duration to stay are between 5 to 10 years. Although the average household monthly inome in the respective two vilages is relatif the same (i.e. Rp 323,366 in Kaligesik and Rp 335,557 in Sumberejo), the physical condition of housing in Sumberejo look a little better than in Kaligesik. Despite the respective differences, people in the two villages tend to stay permanently. This means that the effort to vacant these prohibitive region will become more difficult.
