Abstract

Fresh or clean water is a primary need in housing life. Clean water is used in all housing activities starting from daily needs, they are food and drink; healthy needs for example taking a bath, washing and so on, it is included non primary needs for instance watering plant, washing motorcycle or car and etc. By Increasing population growth, housing need is higher so that many simple housing like Rumah Sangat Sederhana, RSS are established in suburb. Sometimes the location of housing is landfill of swam or field area. In Fulfilment of clean water, developer usually establish shallow well. For example Gelora Persada Housing, Rajabasa, Bandar Lampung. The quality of shallow well in farmer swam or field usually have high organic content that produce bad taste and smell, high turbidity, acid (low pH), and contain high iron (Fe) element. In research was conducted in shallow well of Gelora Persada Housing, Rajabasa, Bandar lampung by using rapid sand filter wich is completed by active carbon and zeolite as adsorbance so that gained to decrease turbidity level from 23,9 NTU become 6,51 NTU; can increase pH value from 6,24 to 6,44 and it also can decrease iron (Fe) content from 3,04 mg/lt become 0,74 mg/lt.

Abstract

This experiment were conducted to study the effect of substituted a part of ration with zeolite (the level of substitution were 0, 3, 6 and 9% from total ration) on the reproductive performances of female mice in first (LS1) and second (LS2) deliveries (litter size), and the observation were conducted on both litter from birth to weaning period on birth and weaning weight, feed consumption of the pregnant mice , feed consumption of mice with their young, average daily gain (ADG) and mortality during lactation period.The result showed that ration substituted with zeolite significantly (P< 0.05) increased feed consumption of pregnant mice from LS1 and LS2, feed consumption of mice with their young in LS1, bird weight (LS1), weaning weight (LS1 and LS2) and ADG of suckling mice in LS2.The rest of parameters measured did not affected significantly in both LS1 and LS2. Substitution of zeolite up to 9% of the ration did not give bad effect on production and reproduction of mice in the first (LS1) and second (LS2) litter.

Abstract

Some natural zeolite types have been exploited for long time to improve the quality of mine waste water. This research was to study the effect of natural zeolite from Lampung (Indonesia) to improve the quality of acid mine drainage from gold-mine in South Sumatra. The size of zeolite is 0,045-0,090 mm and it consist of the clinoptilolite, type. The zeolite column was made from PVC pipe with the length of 20 cm and the diameter of 10,2 cm. The zeolite column was leached in saturated condition during 12 weeks and was divided into four times intake of leached samples. Waste mine water taken from the location of Barisan Tropical Mining (Rawas gold project, Indonesia) on 21 and 23 July 1998. The water samples from pit Berenai contain relatively high iron ( 28 mg/l) and mangan of 9 mg/l, while zinc is less than 2 mg/l. The water generally very acid (pH 2,9) and contained the sulphate until 250 mg/l and the value of salinity of 28 mS/cm. The water sample from sediment pond and mining river generally contained iron, mangan and zinc lower compared to Berenai pit. Leached through zeolite column in the end of experiment contained of iron less than 1 mg/l, while manganese only a little changing. For water sample from Berenai pit, the column of zeolite reduced the sulphate content become 66 mg/l, decreased the salinity to less than 18 mS/cm, and increased the pH to 6,5 or more. The results indicated that natural zeolite from Lampung can be used to improve the quality of acid mine drainage. However, the application of the zeolite for larger scale still need detailed study.

Abstract

The water molecule dynamics absorbed at silicalite zeolite was studied with molecule dynamics technique using the computer. This paper reports the effect of temperature on behavior of dynamic system. The result showed the improvement of diffusion coefficient and diffusion activation energy along with the improvement of temperature. Improvement of temperature cause the change of the contact distance of the water molecule in zeolite molecule.

Abstract

The research has been conducted to study the effect of adding zeolite to the ration on the production performance of mice (Mus musculus). The litter of the first (LS12) and second (LS2) from the same mice which received rations added with zeolite for a long period of time were used in this experiment. The rations with different level of zeolite ( 0,3, 6 and 9%) were used for male and female experimental mice from LS1 and LS2. Randomized Complete Design (RCD) with two factors, namely level of zeolite and sex, with six replication used in this experiment. The result showed that added zeolite to the ration did not affect feed consumption but significantly increased body weight gain and feed efficiency, reduced water and protein content of feces but significantly increased protein digestibility. Mortality rate in this experiment was very low ( 1.6 "“ 2.41%). It could be concluded that added zeolite to the ration up to 9% give better performances of the experimental mice.

Abstract

The aim of this experiment was to find the effect of supplementation of zeolit and was to find the optimum level of zeolit in rations on quail performance. This experiment used 80 female Coturnix coturnix japonica of five weeks old with average body weight 145,44 ± 6,72 g (cv 4,62%). The data were analysed using Completely Randomized Design and polinomial ortogonal test. The treatments was divided to four supplementation zeolit rations treatment (0%,2%,4%,6%). Each treatment had five replication and each replication used four quails. Results of this study indicated that supplementation of zeolit (0 - 6%) in rations gave not significantly different (P ≥ 0,05) to feed consumption but gave significantly different (P < 0,05) to hen day egg production (Ŷ = 46,48 + 4,86X "“ 1,09 X2 ; 0≤ X ≤6 ; R2 = 0,90) and significnatly different (P < 0,05) to feed convertion (Ŷ= 4,85-0,44 + 0,10X 2 ; 0≤X≤6;R2 = 0,97). Level supplementation zeolit 2,22% was optimum to hen day egg production (51,86%) and level supplementation zeolit 2,09% was optimum to feed convertion (4,39).

Abstract

The study aimed to utilizing coal bottom-ash into zeolite A that was used as absorber metal ion of Cu(II). Zeolite A is made from bottom-ash using alkali fusion followed by hydrothermal processes. Melting temperature of Alkali conducted at 750°C during 12 h ours and hydrothermal processes at 100°C with molar ratio of SiO2/Al2O3 1,9. The result XRD showed that zeolite was formed is zeolite A. Product of Zeolite A was examined the ability of adsorption metal ions of Cu (II). In this test conducted several parameter variations that influences are period, concentration, pH, and temperature. The result showed that zeolite A can adsorbing Cu(II) up to 83,35% with the concentration of Cu(II) 50mg/l at pH 8 for 360 minutes. This study was learning some aspects of adsorption process were kinetic adsorption and isothermal adsorption. The result indicate that the kinetics adsorption of Cu(II) at zeolit A was following model of pseudo-first order, while isothermal adsorption is following model of Freundlich.

Abstract

Hydrolysis of clay from Capkala with variation of chloride acid concentratios has been done. Hydrolysis of clay has been conducted by reacting clay in HCl with stirring during 24 hours. Hydrolysis was conducted in several variations of HCl concentration at room temperature. Hydrolyzed clay was characterized by the Atomic Absorption Spectophotometer, Infrared Spectophotometer, and X-ray Diffractometer. The analysis of Spectophotometer of Atomic Absorption was not showed the decreasing of aluminum content of hydrolized clay which is not the extrication of aluminum metal from clay structure. Infrared spectra from hydrolized clay was not showed the eliminated of absorption peak for Al-OH bonds in octahedral layer. Diffractograms of hydrolized clay was not showed the changing angle of 2θ but figuring the increase of intensity of diffraction peak which indicates discharge of pollutant metals from clay structure.

Abstract

Improving the quality of soils degradation can be achieved using the soil ameloirant (i. e. Zeolite, manure, compost, etc.), conservation farming systems, organic management, system balanced fertilization specific location, and efficiency of water use. This study aimed to determine: (1) the type of soil ameloirant that is still used by farmers, sources of information, and its use of doses, (2) constraints and benefit of use, (3) fertilizer efficiency, and (4) development opportunities. This study conducted by survey method that is structured interview included: farmer characteristics, identification, and soil ameloirant development prospects in the future. Identification of soil ameloirant, such as: type of soil ameloirant used by farmers, sources of information, applications, the impact of the use, benefits and constraints of use. The results showed that: the distribution age of respondent ≤ 55 years (80.7%) and > 55 years (19.3%). Dissemination through counseling, pilot project on farmers land in order to developing the confidence of farmers will benefit and importance of the use soil ameloirant to repair land degradation, increasing productivity, and agricultural production. The soil ameloirant have been used by 24% of respondents farmers is zeolite granules (Agro-88) and dolomite; measurement of soil ameloirant for rice field: 500 kg of zeolit /ha and 577 kg dolomite/ha; garden: 219 kg zeolite/ha and 409 kg dolomite/ ha; mixedgarden: 600 kg of zeolit/ha and 143 kg dolomite/ha. Soil ameloirant benefits is for increasing the production: paddys, corns, and vegetables (cauliflower, peppers, tomatoes) around 10-30%, improving the soil fertility and reducing dosage of urea fertilizer as much as 15-30% and SP-36 as much as 30%.

Abstract

Standard Y zeolite has been prepared from sodium aluminate as an alumina source and Cab-O-Sil or sodium silicate as a silicate source. This study in particular aimed to obtain a reliable procedure to produce Y zeolite with Si/Al ratio ≥5. The resulted zeolite was then converted into Ultra Stable Y Zeolite (USY) through hydrothermal dealumination at high temperature. The study managed to procure a formulae and procedure to produce a zeolite Y which has SiO2/Al2O3 > 5 and a very stable USY. The procedure succeeded in obtaining synthesized USY that is ready to use as an active phase of cracking catalyst by combining it with other components which are matrix (modified clay and active matrix) and additives (ZSM- 5).
