Egg shape of second phase production (40- 70 weeks age) of layer bigger than egg shape of one phase production, but egg shell less thickly so than more perishable. On the other side 3.5-4% Ca in the diet only 50% can be absorbed in the intestinal. Ca absorption and Ca retention can be raised by supplementary zeolite in the diet. This experiment was conducted to observe the effect of supplying zeolite in the diet of 192 lohmann brown layer on the egg quality of second phase production. Different feeding treatment was carried out four each group. Layer in treatment 1 were fed control diet; treatment 2, a control diet + zeolite 1.5%; treatment 3, a control diet + zeolite 3%; and treatment 4, a control diet + zeolite 4%. 96 eggs sampel from layer experiment kept on 15 days. The result showed that supplementary zeolite in the diet was significantly ( P ≤ 0.05) increased the thickness of egg shell, significantly (P≤0.05) decreased of egg weight, significantly (P≤ 0.05) decreased air cell, significantly (P≤0.05) increased Haugh Unit (HU) score, and significantly (P≤ 0.05) decreased pH albumen of egg in the second phase production.

Nitrogen fertilizer is one of the fertilizer type which is required for plant growth. This fertilizer is easily dissolved and the ions are not clay bonded, that it is often washed out by rain, evaporated or changed to other forms which can not be used by plants. In order to increase the efficiency of N-fertilizer, the loss of N must be minimized. In other hand, it is well known that natural zeolites have the capability as adsorbents and cation exchangers, such as for ammonium ion. Investigation has been carried out to analyze the capability of natural zeolite from Cikancra, Tasikmalaya to store ammonium ion from ammonium sulfate fertilizer. This research can be used to predict the quantity of zeolite to be added to the soil if we use ammonium sulfate fertilizer. The natural zeolite applied has been selected of the highest cation exchange capacity (CEC) value zeolite from various particle sizes and activation method. The highest CEC, of 150.92 meq/100g is gained by activation at 105oC of particle size "“20 +48 mesh. The optimum CEC of natural zeolite against ammonium sulfate fertilizer is 146.11 meq/100g in 0.2 N (NH4)2SO4 solution. Therefore, the quantity of ammonium sulfate fertilizer (ZA), which can be stored in 100g zeolite is 19.306 g.

Zeolite has been known for improvement of soil fertility through increasing the cation exchange capacity. The objective of this research is to evaluate the application of zeolite for improvement of growth media and growth of oil palm seedling. The research has been conducted in the oil palm seedling research area of Aek Pancur using completely randomized design. The soils used for media are Typic Paleudults, Typic Udipsamments, and Typic Hapludults. The treatment composed of 4 zeolite dossages 0,50, 100, and 150 g/polybag. The results showed that application of zeolite to soils improved the properties of soils, especially cation exchange capacity. Application of zeolite as soil amelioration in the seedling of oil palm did not significantly improve the growth and absorption of nutrients during 11 months. In general, application of zeolite with the dosage of 100 g/polybag improve the growth and absorbtion of nutrients compared to without zeolite application. On the othe hand, application of 150 g zeolite/polybag decrease the growth and absorbtion of nutrients.

One of the livestock that has potential to be developed in fulfill the meat requirement is the pig. The excellent traits of the pigs are prolific, high carcas percentage (65-80% of live weight), very efficient in converting feed in to the products. Zeolite is a mine commodity that very potential can be used as mineral source in diets. The minerals has specific characteristic which had high absorption and cation exchange capacity. Zeolite can be used in the diets for increasing feed efficiency. The aim of the research was to study the effect of level zeolite from different sources in the diets on pigs growing-finishing periode. The result showed that the used 6% zeolite level had significant effect on average daily gain and optimal point level used is 4,8%. There were no significant effect of zeolite sources on pig performance. Generally the performance of pigs received feed containing zeolite from L better compared others sources (B,S and N).

Research has been done to evaluate the addition of zeolite to manure fertilizer. This research is aimed to review the advantages and disadvantages of zeolites as manure fertilizer additive. Investigation is carried out by different variables: zeolite particle size, zeolite concentration and curing time. The results show that zeolite particle sizes of "“7 +10 mesh and "“20 +48 mesh did not significantly different. Zeolite "“ compost mixture can dry very fast, just in 2 weeks curing time the residual water content is only 5-6%, while that on the controlled compost (without zeolite) is still 70%. Higher zeolite concentration will speed up the compost drying process. On the other hand, zeolite addition will increase the potassium content by 1.7"“2% but it also increases NH3 volatilization, which will result in a lower N content. Higher zeolite concentration will give lower N content in the composite. It can be concluded that zeolite addition is suggested not applied to the fresh compost but just before the compost will be used in order to increase the nutrition efficiency.

One of the application of zeolite as a multi-function mineral is the use as catalyst. Investigation to utilize Indonesian natural zeolite as a catalyst will increase the added value and gives a chance to reduce the dependency of imported catalyst. One of the main property, which allow zeolite to be used as a catalyst, is a high silica-alumina ratio, where Si/Al >10. As a preminalry stage to form a catalyst zeolite, research has been carried out to increase the Si/Al ratio of natural mordenite from Cikalong, Tasikmalaya. The method applied is dealumination process, which is followed by calcinations and ion exchange. This process is expected to modify the Na-zeolite from natural mordenit to be a NH4-zeolite which can be transformed to a catalyst zeolite. Dealumination process is carried out using HNO3, with variable concentration and time at temperature of 85°C. Thereafter, zeolite is calcined at 700°C and is followed ion exchange process using NH4NO3. The current stage of research has been succeeded to increase the Si/Al ratio of natural mordenite from Si/Al @ 5 to Si/Al > 10. The process condition applied is dealumination with 8N HNO3 for 24 hours at 85°°C and is followed by calcinations at 700°C for 2 hours. Ion exchange is proceeded with 5% NH4NO3 for 2 hours and is followed by another calcinations at 400°C for 2 hours.

Sweet potatoes are more sensitive to fertilization of Nitrogen (N) and Potassium (K), among other macro nutrient elements. Theoretically, in order to produce one ton of this comodity, at least 3 kg N, 9 kg K, and 2 kg P are needed. But in fact actually, urea as a Nitrogen source that might be added to soil commonly evaporated in other way the KCl as the Potassium fertilizer easily leached down from soil profile and thus the plant productivity much lower. Objectives of this research are to study the influence of zeolites addition to increasement of nutrient absorption in soil by Sweet Potatoes. The research was conducted from February - June 2003 in District of Katibung, Jati Agung, Merbau Mataram, then from March-July 2003 in District of Panjang, and April-August 2003 in District of Waway Karya by using Complete Randomized Block Design with 3 replication. Each plot consists of 7 planting area (sized 35 m2) and planting distance is 100 cm x 25 cm, or plant density 140/plot. Zeolites is applied in application level of 30 % from total weight of fertilizer 350 kg/Ha. Bedeng size measure 30 cm and wide 60 cm. Zeolite used with dose 30 % from or equals to 105 kg zeolites/ Ha, Result of crop yield that showed by tuber weight both the small sized or the large sized tuber are optimalized in treatment C which 105 kg/ha zeolite. It could be explained because addition of zeolites in fertilizer increase the nutrient absorption by the crop planted. In all research locations, treatment C yielded the most beneficiary production of Sweet potatoes. Tuber root weight in Chinesse Fertilizing treatment lower than other fertilizer because the nutrients are much slower released in the soil profile.

Zeolite used in so various area and inclusive of livestock. The using of zeolite is related to zeolite characteristic as molecule absorber and cation exchange capacity. In return for cation, because metallic binding which owning is easy to release and also easily replace by cation of other. Zeolite ability as molecule absorber caused by its structure is hollow where other molecule that selectively can dissociate molecule which size measure is bigger can fill the cavity. Nature zeolite ability causes it a lot of used for the good livestock area as part of feed and as media of plant for livestock feed and also to improve environmental quality of farm. Zeolite use in research of various livestock type show livestock appearance repair improvement and low feed price. Zeolite use to improve environmental quality also show real result through rate reduction irrigate dirt, dirty air and dirt ammonia rate degradation in cage and also lessen aroma coming from ammonia (NH3) and sulphide hydrogen (H2S) as ferment micro organism result in feces.
