Abstract

Communication problems during emergency situations caused by diverse natural phenomenon, especially earthquake, often occurred in Banda Aceh. This is due to an increase in user traffic on the communication network that made most of the providers overwhelmed. Therefore, the existence of a sophisticated network infrastructure for an effective communication in time of emergency phase must be provided. Considering the needs for better communication that can lead to efficient responses in disaster emergency, we try to present a concept of Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) as one of the most effective communication network solutions for today that can perform well in crisis phases. This concept is expected to help the local government, related parties, and communities in doing various communication needs in time of crisis phase. The idea of this WMN is also expected to be taken into consideration for all providers in building their network infrastructure in the future. Keywords: emergency phase, communication network, WMN.

Abstract

Ancient documents are inheritance that must be preserved. The documents contain historical, scientific, social, religious information, etc. Converting ancient documents into digital image formats is one of ways to preserve the inheritance and can be stored into a computer. However, images of ancientdocuments have many blemishes caused by age, moisture, flood, etc. Therefore, special techniques are needed for those images to be restored and can improve the legibility of the ancient documents’ images. In this study, the image restoration process uses separation of background and foreground/text on histogram equalization such as research conducted by Fitri Arnia in 2008. Through histogram equalizationimages can be seen the distribution of pixels from the intensity of black color "0" to white "1". The distribution of pixels on histogram equalization describes the curves of foreground/text and curves of background. Among the histogram curves, the determination of thresholdvalues can be done so as to clarify the foreground/text and background areas on images of ancient documents. The lowest point between the two curves is the lowest pixel (local minima) which is used as the threshold value. However, the selection of such threshold values in some cases is very difficult to determine because there are still many fluctuations in the curve at the lowest curve. Therefore, this study proposesa histogram smoothing method in the ancient documents’ images to minimize curvature fluctuations and to determine more accurate threshold values. In this research, average filtering method is used for smoothing the histogram image. This filter successfully refines the histogram and makes the image of the restoration or binary image display the value of the ancient document image readability increases. Keywords: HistogramEqualization, Smoothing Histogram, Average Filtering, Thresholding

Abstract

An internet network analysis is needed to understand the traffic on a network. This paper attempts to analyze some tests to find out the quality of the existing network at Regional Secretariat Office of Aceh. Browsing test and ping test were carried out for local, national, and international domain in order to know how much time does it takes to open a website considering those three servers have different distances. The download and upload speed tests were conducted to know how much times does it takes to download and upload a specific size file. This speed tests were performed using speedtest.net site to compare the bandwidth on Microtic router RB 1100 with unlimited bandwidth and Microtic router CCR 1016 with 10 Mbps bandwidth. The result of that comparison will be found out by three examiners using Laptop and Desktop. We hope that this paper will help all network administrators and further examiners in conducting a more detail analysis on other existing networks.  Keywords: Browsing test, Ping test, Download and upload test

Abstract

The 3 Dimensional (3D) modeling of an object has become one of the most important needs in many areas such as mapping, tourism, documentation, inventory, promotion, animation, film and so on because it has the advantages of 3D, interactive and representative display. 3D Spatial Modeling Building Shopping Center Pasar Aceh is designed because the absence of information that displays the entire spatial part the facilities contained in the Shopping Center Building in 3 Dimensions. In the process of making the material and texture is done by the process of giving color in accordance with the data that has been collected. The lighting process is required to provide a bright effect on the building. The final process done in 3D modeling is the process of rendering the image by choosing a resolution of 1600x1200 pixels which is the size of image resolution of the image rendering. Image rendering on 3D spatial modeling The Shopping Center building only displays a visual representation of the per-frame of the parts to be rendered. Form of visualization of the modeling is expected to provide new information to the visitors about the interior layout of the interior, exterior and the location of the facilities contained in the Building Shopping Center Pasar Aceh in the form of the final 3 Dimensions. Abstract

Banda Aceh is one of the most touristic cities that rely on transportation mode for everyday needs from bicycle, motorcycle, car and public transportation. The population growth of Banda Aceh city increased from year to year causing an imbalance between the amount of transportation on the highway and the available capacity of roads. This causes a variety of traffic problems So that required activities Monitoring the flow of traffic on a particular road to know the smooth flow of traffic. Hence from it came the idea to design a traffic counting system that can calculate the amount of traffic flow of vehicles As a guide to be used as information flow of traffic. This system was created using Microsoft Visual Studio, and Open Source Computer Vision. Abstract

The appropriateness of a location to be selected as a seminar location is affected by many supporting factors, so that the location is suitable as a single choice. Hence, there should be made a process to decide a location whether it is proper or not to match some assessment criteria conceived before. There are 8 assessment criteria with 22 sub-criteria each. The result of the assessment forms as a total values which has limited values, determined by equal intensity (degree of assessment), which are low, medium, and high. Once the assessment process is done, then the next step is verifying comparison between one criteria with others, as well as comparison between one sub-criteria and other sub-criteria to acquire alternative ranking value. Decision-making support system which is developed in this study uses Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). AHP is used as a decision-making process tool by the decision maker to exercise a decision which faces several problems from a range of criteria. While Geographical Information System (GIS) is used to handle geography-reference data, which are input, output, data management (data storage and retrieval), and analysis and data manipulation which resulted on a map. The combination of both processes would create a new system which its mathematic calculation uses AHP but the result is outputted on an interactive map, generated by the GIS. Keywords: AHP, GIS, Decision maker, seminar location
