This journal was first published on March 11, 2016 and it is issued every March and September. MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN is a new version of the old journal with a similar name that was published from 1995 to 2005. This journal is dedicated not only to Indonesian scholars who are concerned with educational studies but also to scholars from Southeast Asian countries and around the world who care and want to share thoughts and ideas related to educational studies in general. MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN journal is organized by the Lecturers of UPI Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Journal Developer Team and is published by UPI Press in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The articles published in MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN can be in English, Indonesian or Malay language. MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN journal is devoted but not limited to primary education, secondary education, higher education, teacher education, special education, adult education, non-formal education, and any new development and advancement in the field of education. Abstract

ABSTRACT: Many classroom teachers get promoted to a leadership role as in the case of Master Teachers in the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines. This requires a shift in role or expansion of scope and nature of work as they adjust and accommodate the new assignment. Hence, this shift is worth studying to understand how they fare and what assistance can be given them to be effective in doing their tasks. This is the purpose of the current study focused on determining the emotional intelligence and leadership trait of the Master Teachers. Using a descriptive-correlational research method involving 45 respondents from the 10 Senior High Schools in Pasig City with Master Teachers, the study identified their emotional intelligence and leadership trait, and determined the significant correlations between the two as perceived by the participants. The results show that the respondents were highly emotionally intelligent in managing own emotions, managing others’ emotions, and utilization of emotions, but they got above average emotional intelligence in the perception of emotions. On the other hand, the measure of leadership trait showed that they had high leadership trait in all the five major leadership traits. KEY WORD: Emotional Intelligence; Leadership Trait; Master Teacher. ABSTRAKSI: “Kecerdasan Emosional dan Sifat Kepemimpinan diantara Guru-guru Kepala Sekolah”. Banyak guru kelas dipromosikan ke peran kepemimpinan seperti dalam kasus Guru-guru Kepala Sekolah di Departemen Pendidikan (DepEd) di Filipina. Ini membutuhkan pergeseran peran atau perluasan ruang lingkup dan sifat pekerjaan saat mereka menyesuaikan dan mengakomodasi tugas baru. Oleh karena itu, perubahan ini layak dipelajari untuk memahami bagaimana taraf mereka dan bantuan apa yang dapat diberikan kepada mereka agar efektif dalam melakukan tugas-tugas mereka. Ini adalah tujuan dari penelitian ini yang berfokus pada menentukan kecerdasan emosi dan sifat kepemimpinan dari Guru-guru Kepala Sekolah. Menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif-korelasional yang melibatkan 45 responden dari 10 SMA (Sekolah Menengah Atas) di Kota Pasig dengan Guru-guru Kepala Sekolah, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi kecerdasan emosional dan sifat kepemimpinan mereka, dan menentukan korelasi yang signifikan antara keduanya seperti yang dirasakan oleh para peserta. Hasil kajian menunjukan bahwa responden sangat cerdas secara emosional dalam mengelola emosi sendiri, mengelola emosi orang lain, dan memanfaatkan emosi, tetapi mereka mendapat kecerdasan emosi di atas rata-rata dalam persepsi emosi. Di sisi lain, ukuran sifat kepemimpinan menunjukan bahwa mereka memiliki sifat kepemimpinan yang tinggi di semua lima sifat kepemimpinan utama. Abstract

ABSTRAKSI: Kompetensi pegawai dapat dipahami sebagai sebuah kombinasi antara keterampilan, atribut personal, dan pengetahuan yang tercermin melalui perilaku kinerja yang dapat diamati, diukur, dan dievaluasi. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, analisis deskriptif, dan studi kepustakaan, artikel ini membahas tentang kompetensi profesional pegawai ASN (Aparatur Sipil Negara) di Indonesia. Hasil kajian menunjukan bahwa kompetensi dapat dibedakan menjadi dua tipe. Pertama, kompetensi “lembut”, atau jenis kompetensi yang berkaitan erat dengan kemampuan untuk mengelola proses pekerjaan, hubungan antar manusia, serta membangun interaksi dengan orang lain. Contoh kompetensi “lembut” bagi para pegawai ASN adalah kepemimpinan, komunikasi, hubungan antarpribadi, dan lain-lain. Kedua, kompetensi “keras”, atau jenis kompetensi yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan fungsional dan teknis suatu pekerjaan. Dengan kata lain, kompetensi pegawai ASN di sini berkenaan dengan seluk-beluk teknis yang berkaitan dengan pekerjaan yang ditekuni. Contoh kompetensi “keras” adalah teknik kelistrikan, riset pemasaran, analisis finansial, perencanaan tenaga kerja, dan lain-lain. Pelayanan publik di Indonesia hendaknya mendorong adanya budaya kerja yang positif, membangun komunikasi yang respektif, meningkatkan kedisiplinan pegawai, menegakan aturan organisasi, serta menerapkan ganjaran dan hukuman sebagai bentuk motivasi kerja bagi pegawai.KATA KUNCI: Kompetensi Profesional; Pegawai; Aparatur Sipil Negara di Indonesia. ABSTRACT: “Professional Competencies of State Civil Apparatus’ Employee in Indonesia”. Competencies employee can be understood as a combination of skills, personal attributes, and knowledge that is reflected through performance behavior that can be observed, measured, and evaluated. By using qualitative methods, descriptive analysis, and library studies, this article discusses the professional competence of State Civil Apparatus’ employees in Indonesia. The results of the study show that competencies can be divided into two types. Firstly, soft competencies, or types of competencies that are closely related to the ability to manage work processes, human relations, and build interactions with others. Examples of soft competencies for State Civil Apparatus’ employees are leadership, communication, interpersonal relations, and others. Secondly, hard competency, or type of competency related to functional and technical abilities of a job. In other words, the competence of State Civil Apparatus’ employees here concerns to the technical intricacies related to the work being undertaken. Examples of hard competency are electrical engineering, marketing research, financial analysis, manpower planning, and others. Abstract

ABSTRACT: The study concerns on dominant conflict management approach of officials of selected SUCs (State Universities and Colleges) in the Philippines. Related studies and literature on the importance of systems approach in organizational analysis along with theories and practices on the role of culture in conflict analysis and resolution along with the principles and theories in negotiation and conflict management system design are presented and utilized as the research theoretical framework. Kenneth W. Thomas Ralph H. Kilmann (2017)’s conflict behavior survey instrument was also used. The results show that the dominant conflict management style of officials from the selected SUCs in the Philippines is that of “collaborator”. The respondents open to other conflict management styles in responding to conflicts, including compromiser, accommodator, controller, and avoider. While the sex and administrative positions of the respondents (university officials) do not have any statistical significant difference in their preference of conflict management styles. So, more than majority of the respondents are using several conflict management styles as they address interpersonal conflicts in various contexts.KEY WORD: Conflict Management Style; University Officials; Interpersonal Conflicts.  ABSTRAKSI: “Manajemen Konflik diantara para Pejabat Terpilih pada Universitas dan Perguruan Tinggi Negeri di Filipina”. Studi ini mengenai pendekatan manajemen konflik yang dominan dari para pejabat SUCs (Universitas dan Perguruan Tinggi Negeri) tertentu di Filipina. Terkait dengan studi dan literatur tentang pentingnya pendekatan sistem dalam analisis organisasi bersama dengan teori dan praksis tentang peran budaya dalam analisis dan resolusi konflik bersama dengan prinsip-prinsip dan teori dalam negosiasi dan desain sistem manajemen konflik disajikan dan digunakan sebagai kerangka teori penelitian. Instrumen survei perilaku konflik dari Kenneth W. Thomas Ralph H. Kilmann (2017) juga digunakan. Hasil kajian menunjukan bahwa gaya manajemen konflik dari pejabat yang dominan dalam SUC terpilih di Filipina adalah "kolaborator". Responden terbuka terhadap gaya manajemen konflik lainnya dalam menanggapi konflik, termasuk kompromi, akomodator, pengontrol, dan penghindar. Manakala jenis kelamin dan posisi administratif responden (pejabat universitas) tidak memiliki perbedaan statistik yang signifikan dalam preferensi mereka terhadap gaya manajemen konflik. Jadi, lebih dari mayoritas responden menggunakan beberapa gaya manajemen konflik ketika mereka menangani konflik interpersonal dalam berbagai konteks.KATA KUNCI: Gaya Manajemen Konflik; Pejabat Universitas; Konflik Antarpribadi.   About the Authors: Ronald Allan S. Abstract

ABSTRAKSI: Pembelajaran inovatif di sekolah merupakan strategi pembelajaran yang menekankan kepada penyampaian materi pembelajaran kepada siswa, yang berupa ekspositori, inkuiri, pembelajaran berbasis masalah, peningkatan kemampuan berpikir, pembelajaran koperatif, pembelajaran kontekstual, pembelajaran afektif, dan pendekatan ilmiah. Pembentukan karakter siswa yang perlu dikembangkan dalam pilar pendidikan nasional adalah merujuk pada pengolahan nilai dalam kawasan pikiran, perasaan, fisik atau raga, dan pengolahan hati yang menjadi spirit dalam menggerakan pikiran, perasaan, dan kemauan; atau dikenal dengan istilah olah-pikir, olah-rasa, olah-hati, dan olah-raga. Pembentukan karakter siswa juga harus dikembangkan, antara lain, karakter toleransi dan cinta damai untuk lebih ditonjolkan, karena kemajemukan bangsa dan negara Indonesia. Nilai kejujuran dan tanggung jawab juga sangat urgen di saat bangsa Indonesia kini tengah menghadapi berbagai kasus korupsi. Dengan menggunakan metode dan pendekatan kualitatif, serta studi literatur atau kepustakaan, artikel ini mencoba mengelaborasi tentang pembelajaran inovatif dan kaitannya dengan pembentukan karakter siswa. Didalamnya dikaji dan dianalisis tentang Pembelajaran Inovatif; Pembentukan Karakter Siswa; serta Gerakan Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter di Indonesia.KATA KUNCI: Pembelajaran Inovatif; Pembentukan Karakter Siswa; Gerakan Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter di Indonesia. ABSTRACT: “Innovative Learning in Forming the Student Characters”. Innovative learning in the schools is a learning strategy that emphasizes the delivery of learning material to students, in the form of expository, inquiry, problem-based learning, increased thinking ability, cooperative learning, contextual learning, affective learning, and scientific approaches. The formation of student character that needs to be developed in the pillar of national education is referring to the processing of values in the domains of mind, feeling, physical, and processing of the heart, which becomes the spirit of moving thoughts, feelings, and will; or known as thought, taste, care, and exercise. The formation of student character must also be developed, among others, the character of tolerance and peace of mind to be more highlighted, because of the diversity of the nation and state of Indonesia. The value of honesty and responsibility is also very urgent, when the Indonesian nation currently is facing various the corruption cases. By using qualitative methods and approaches, as well as literature studies or reviews, this article tries to elaborate on innovative learning and its relation to student character formation. Abstract

ABSTRAKSI: Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan pengaruh interaktif antara model pembelajaran dan motivasi berprestasi terhadap prestasi belajar Fisika. Penelitian menggunakan kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pre-test dan post-test non-equivalent control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa Kelas X MIPA SMAN (Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri) 1 Kubutambahan di Bali, Indonesia, yang terdiri dari empat kelas atau 130 orang. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan analisis kovarian dua jalur. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa prestasi belajar siswa diakibatkan oleh perbedaan model pembelajaran. Prestasi belajar yang lebih tinggi diraih oleh siswa yang menerima perlakuan model PBL (Problem Based Learning atau Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah). Perbedaan prestasi belajar siswa juga diakibatkan oleh perbedaan motivasi berprestasi. Prestasi belajar yang lebih tinggi diraih oleh siswa yang memiliki MBT (Motivasi Berprestasi Tinggi). Akhirnya, ada pengaruh interaktif antara model pembelajaran dan motivasi berprestrasi terhadap prestasi belajar siswa. KATA KUNCI: Model Pembelajaran; Prestasi Belajar; Motivasi; Matapelajaran Fisika. ABSTRACT: “Effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning Model and Student Achievement Motivation in Gaining the Physics Learning Achievements”. The research describes the interactive influence between model of learning and achievement motivation toward Physics learning achievement. The research used a quasi experimental study with pre-test and post-test non-equivalent control group design. The population of this study were the students of Class X Mathematics and Sciences at the Public Senior High School 1 Kubutambahan in Bali, Indonesia, consisted of four classes or 130 people. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and two-ways analysis of covariance. The results of this study reveal that the student achievement is due to the differences in learning models. Higher learning achievement was achieved by students who received treatment of PBL (Problem Based Learning) model. The differences in student achievement are due to also the differences in achievement motivation. Higher achievement of learning achieved by students who have high achievement motivation. Abstract

MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN: Jurnal Indonesia untuk Kajian Pendidikan (Indonesian Journal for Educational Studies). This journal, with ISSN 2527-3868 (print) and 2503-457X (online), was firstly published on March 11, 2016, by UPI (Indonesia University of Education) Press in Bandung and orgnized by the Lecturers of UPI Journal Developer Team. The MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN  is a new version journal from the old journal with the similar name that was published since 1995 to 2005. This journal is dedicated not only for Indonesian scholars who concern about educational studies, but also welcome to the scholars of Southeast Asian countries and around the world who care and share related to the educational studies in general.
