Abstract

The research samples are news about the candidates in Jawa Pos Radar Semarang and Suara Merdeka daily newspaper page one and special rubric on March 26 - June 22, 2008. The result of this research shows that Jawa Pos Radar Semarang tried to be responsive with political issues and give favorable constructs to Agus Soeyitno-Kholiq Arif, Bibit Waluyo-Rustriningsih dan HM.Tamzil-Rozaq Rais. On the other hand, they give unfavorable constructs to Bambang Sadono-M. Adnan and Sukawi Sutarip-Sudharto.  Suara Merdeka give favorable constructs to Bambang Sadono-M. Adnan; Bibit Waluyo-Rustriningsibd and HM. Tamzil-Rozaq Rais but give unfavorable constructs to Agus Soeyitno-Kholiq Arif and SukawiSutarip-Sudharto.

Abstract

Any interesting to compare the phenomenon of European folklore and Indonesian folklore. This study uses narrative analysis techniques. For research purposes, such as: the gender bias describes the structure presented in the story of Indonesian folklore (Bawang Merah Bawang Putih) and European folklore (Cinderella). Then, to describe the gender bias presented in the discourse structure from the story of Indonesian folklore and European folklore. Meanwhile, the results of this study can be drawn some important points encountered in both the folklore. First, the women s attitudes are passive, forgiving, not aggressive, and accept whatever ( nrimo ) is a good female figures. Second, the women s attitudes are active, ambitious, and aggressive is a bad woman figures. Third, the good woman attitudes can not changes the fate of their own, without the help of a miracle or the help of a man.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the meaning of denotation and connotation, and social message in the book 'Aesthetics Jakarta Banal', Chapter I, III, V, and VII. The author uses the theory Semiotics of Roland Barthes. Where Semiotics of Roland Barthes uses two stages of analysis denotation and connotation. The research method used is a Roland Barthes semiotic analysis method on the basis that this study analyzes the messages conveyed in the book 'Aesthetics Jakarta Banal', which gives an explanation and overview of issues related to the formulation.  Inferred outline text analysis results indicate that the social life of silence in the city with the concept of light to be seen. Of all the images examined, the object edges and political society into something dominant to be something that should be understood by the reader.

Abstract

This study purpose to understand and describe in detail and in-dept understanding of the meaning and the use of phonetic alphabet in radio marine communication. Theory used in this study is syimbolic interaksionisme that states when a movement in sociology focused to way people shape the meaning and structure of the community through conversations. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with interpretive perspective. This research was conducted PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia Scouting III Tanjung Emas Semarang with three (3) sample person as radio marine operator.In concluded for this study has answered phonetic alphabet code is a symbol that used to interaction tool for equalized and straighten meaning when there is misunderstanding in the delivery and reception of informationbetween both radio operator in radio marine communication especially PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia III Tanjung Emas Semarang to understand the meaning from the contents of the message to be effective communication.

Abstract

Wira Yanti, G.311.10.0045. Understanding Minang Settler Women s Role in Preserving and Continuing the Communication of Matrilineal Culture (A study case to Minang women in Semarang). Final Project: Study Program S1 Communication Study Semarang University.  The research is aimed at knowing the challenges and the roles of settler women (Minang ethnic) who stay in Semarang, as a minority group to preserve and continue the communication of matrilineal culture. The bases of the study are cultural communication, intra-cultural communication, symbolic interactionism and personal communication. One that is being questioned in the research is how to understand Minang women to preserve the communication of matrinilineal. The study used qualitative descriptive method by using the data from observation and reducing the data from indepth interview to be presented in a form of a research. Minang ethnic is a minority in Semarang however being settlers do not change the customs. Minang women in Semarang as main performers of matrilineal culture stay strong although they do not live in their hometown, they keep preserving and continuing the long-established matrilineal culture. All of their action is done to protect the traditional values.

Abstract

The working women isn t a new phenomenon in the modern society. Through their carrier, they try to find meaning, identity and achievement that bring confidence to their life. However, there is still a problem regarding the bias gender related to the quality and capabilities of women in the work field. Femina as one of women magazine realize that women also need information that can help them to attributes and give the self identity in the role of society. This research aim at how Femina talks about girl power in several articles by Gamson and Modigliane framwork in two core structures and condensing symbol frames.

Abstract

Media is a means for someone to be able to convey information to others. Currently there are two classes of media. Old media / conventional and new media. Ideally, on the both media, the position and status of all users are the same media. But in reality, in this case, social media as part of the new media, it still occurs mute identity in social media for some women. Based on the observations, a style that used by women on her status in her social media account is still much that is likely to show a distinctive feminine style, which tends to give priority to the relationship, avoid disputes, and minimize the dominant impression

Abstract

This research aim to understand the text, the discourse practice, and the sociocultural practice which Suara Merdeka showed in their publications about bribery case of Semarang s RAPBD 2012 which claims Soemarmo.The theoritical of this study required critical paradigm. Stuart Hall in Eriyanto (2008) wrote that mass media is not produce a news, but they determine reality through words.The research method used critical discourse analysis by Norman Fairclough. Three steps analysis by Faircough are text analysis, discourse practice analysis, and sociocultural analysis. The texts have been analyzed by linguistic, grammar and vocabulary. Discourse practice analysis related to production and consumtion process. Sociocultural analysis related to outside elements of the texts. The researcher collected data by text analyzed and interviewed a journalist and the editor in chief of Suara Merdeka. The study has been done in Semarang.This research found that Suara Merdeka wrote the text about this case very carefully. There was a special agenda setting to write about it. The socioculture practice analysis showed that the capitalist has intervented the editorial.

Abstract

The development of increasing open world on various aspects of human life which is supported by the mobility and movement and exchange of information quickly. The information of exchage is quickly explain the fact that all human beings can not circumvent intercultural communication.The results of this study explains the theory and science of communication theory explain Phenomenology by Maurice Marleu-Ponty (Littlejohn 1999) is the assumption informants from the experiences and try to understand every event in their environment with personal experiences.The research method used is descriptive qualitative analysis, it is a process of focusing attention on the simplification and transformation of the raw data that comes from the written notes in the field, the presentation of the data is done by using a form of narrative text, drawing conclusions and verification.Different cultural communication barriers conflict for communicators. Language and ethnosentrism be one of the triggers of conflict, such as Batak s language that is considered rude to make Javanise misunderstand the message. Solutions to communication barriers that are of mutual respect and learn from each other, for example Javanise learning Batak s langguage and Bataknese learning Javanese s langguage.Bottom of Form

Abstract

Online media as an alternative media expected to fulfill the function of the mass media as the previous conventional media, among others, to meet the needs of information all at once into a medium that is able to educate its users. A website called www.palingindonesia.com   seeks to encourage young people to participate actively to share the experience and knowledge of Indonesian culture through writing. Using a qualitative content analysis this study aims to identify the educational messages on website www.palingindonesia.com with the conception of internet and public sphere as a ground theory that focusing texts as an object. Mayring methods is choosen to analyze the text by combined lexico grammatical, context analysis, and intepretation. This study resulted a conclusion that the function of culture media literacy can be run on online media www.palingindonesia.com
