Abstract

The aim of this research was to compare three and four floors of reinforce concrete portal design, and the  possibility of the addition of one floor above the three floors building based on building safety. Research was carried out by taking the example of two office building portals constructed in the earthquake zone-one. Both portals were made from the same sketch plan and designed in the full elastic system. The load combinations (dead load, live load, and earthquake load) were subjected to both portals. The loads complied with the Indonesian Code (Tatacara Perhitungan Struktur Beton Untuk Bangunan Gedung, SNI 03-2847-2002). The dimension of portal structures (beam, column, sloof, and foundations) and their reinforcements were properly designed to carry the loads. Based on the dimension of portal and their reinforcement obtained, a comparison could be made up of total reinforcing and spacing of begel on both portals, and the possibility of the addition of one floor above the three floors building. The results showed that the dimensions of the structure (column, sloof, and foundation) of four floors portal were bigger than three floors, had greater number of total longitudinal reinforcement (include of beam), and the begel space of edge beam was more tightly. Moreover, the addition of one floor above the three floors would be dangerous for building safety  and users.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of rice husk ash and ash rice straw against physical and mechanical characteristics of the bricks, and also to determine the minimal burning time in the manufacture of clay bricks with additional ingredients such waste to achieve physical and mechanical characteristics bricks in accordance with standard bricks. Variations of burning time is 12 hours, 18 hours, 24 hours, and 30 hours. While the variation of rice husk ash and rice straw ash is 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. The bricks were tested based on physical and mechanical characteristics. Physical characteristics include specific gravity test, fuel and shrinkage porosity test. While the mechanical characteristics are compressive strength test.Based on these results, it was found that all the bricks compressive strength test in accordance with ISO standards SK-S-04-1989-F, which is entering grade 25 and 50. The density is smaller than the standard that is 1.8 to 2.6 g / cm3. Test shrinkage derived fuel is smaller than the standard that is <15%. While the porosity test found to be greater than the standard (<20%). The highest compression strength is 7.35 MPa is achieved with brick with an additional 20% ash burning rice straw in 12 hours. Its low specific gravity of 1.32 g / cm3, achieved by brick with the addition of 20% rice husk ash on burning 30 hours. Losses lowest fuel that is 0.90% achieved by brick with the addition of 20% rice husk ash on burning 12 hours. While the lowest was 33.17% porosity is achieved by brick with the addition of 10% rice husk ash on burning 24 hours.

Abstract

The  road weaving near Sragen city Central Java has been daily problem  in  last decade. The  existing of high expansive  clay soil in subgrade below the road foundation has been identified as the major cause of this problem. Sand Column become one solution to improve the subgrade since it can ab-sorb the water  from the void of clay soil and drain into the channel. The re-search develops a model of Sand column in laboratorium. The box of 1.0 m x 0.4 m x 0.4 m has been created. 15 cm diameter of sand column then installed at the toe and samples for consolidation test are taken from various distances from the centre of column (i.e. 16.67 cm; 33.33 cm; and 50 cm). The result shows that the Sand Column can improve the soft clay soil in terms of consolidation. The coefficient of consolidation increases as the compression index drops. Consequently, the consolidation settlement can be re-duced significantly.

Abstract

The objectives of this research study were to : (i) investigate how much water tariffs should be paid by consumer in order to serve the project investement and operation based on the full cost recovery schemes, and (ii) investigate sensitivity factors affeted to project NPV.  This study fokus on the Dumai, water development project, Riau Province. The project investment was approximatelly Rp. 82,34 billion  (Alternative 1 for water treatment facility of 80 l/sec) and Rp. 134,308 million (Alter-native 2 for watar treatment facility of 160 l/sec) for 25 years. Based on the  economic analysis, it was revealed that; the Net Present Value (NPV) of  the alternative 1 project was Rp. 4.4 billion (with water tariffs of Rp. 7.000,-/m3 for a household and Rp 9.000,-/m3 for an industrial sector), BCR =  1,135, and IRR = 16,829 %.  This IRR value is higher then bank interst rate (12%). Alternative 2 will yield NPV of 40 billion (with tariff of Rp. 5.700,-/m3 for Household and Rp . 8.000, -/m3 for an industrial sector), BCR= 1,122 and IRR = 16,433 % . Based on these economic analysis, this project was considered feasible to proceed. The factors that are relatively sensitive for the NPV of project were; chemicals, electricity and fuel, staff salaries, and interest rates.

Abstract

This study is intended for comparison of the structure of a conventional floor slab and floor deck system. The aim of research looking for an easy job execution, performance and productivity of labor and equip-ment are high, the effectiveness of a faster time and low cost of the two methods. Object of research on Building Project National Craft Council and Scout (DESPRA) Central Java, Semarang. This comparative study covers the analysis of the implementation of the work, the analysis of the performance and produc-tivity of labor and equipment, timing analysis, the cost of implementation with field observation method. Implementation of research results slab floor deck system more effective and efficient both from the level of difficulty and time required compared to conventional floor plate. Labor productivity and higher tool structure floor deck slab system compared to conventional floor plate structure. While the performance of slab floor deck system is better than the conventional floor plate. The timing of the slab floor deck system faster than conventional floor plate difference of 6.92 days. Costs on the work floor deck slab system less than a conventional floor plates by a margin of 8.105%

Abstract

Probabilistic design began more realistic solution compare to the deterministic (conventional) design as it can describe and accommodate of soil variability.  Althought the old approach is widely used, it is confirmed, that almost all natural soils are spatially variable in their properties and rarely homogenous.  This paper focuses on the analysis and design of bored pile foundation on the project of  Solo Quest Hotel based on the probabilistic theory.  The research begins with a certain pre-liminary analysis to prepare the probabilistic analysis of bored pile foundatiaon design, by characterizing the cohesion (cu) from convertion of N value on three SPTs data taken from the site.  It involves an extensive analysis to perform the best-fit distribution of pointwise variability of cohesion (cu) using computer program written in MATLAB.  The next step is deriving the point statistics (i.e. mean, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation) across the site.  Finally, a certain monte carlo analysis using Crystal Ball computer program is carried out to design the bored pile foundation by inputing all data taken from MATLAB analysis.  The bored pile installed in 12 m depth and the diameters of bored pile 0,6 m respectively.  The  bored pile experiences 43.354,455 kN vertical load.  The results show that there is no objection to hypothesis of normality in the Chi-Square analysis.  Compare to the deterministic analysis, the probabilistic design needs more bored pile to resist the vertical load in a safety factor 2,5 and confident limit 95%.  Furtheremore, the higher variation of  cu data the larger number of bored pile is desired.

Abstract

West Tarum Canal (WTC) is a canal to convey water for irrigation to the surroundings area  and for distributing raw water to Jakarta area. The total length of WTC is 69.8 miles, starting from the Curug weir to the Ciliwung River. WTC has been operated for 40 years. Recently, there has been a decline in function of this canal up to 70%. For that reason, this canal is required rehabilitation to restore it function. This paper highlights the planning and implementation of the rehabilitation work related to spatial planning of Jabodetabekpunjur.
