Abstract

Nodes Position of Scion and IAA Concentration on Grafting Growth of Bougenvillea spectabilis And Bougenvillea variegata. The experiment aimed to examine the influence of nodes position of scion and IAA concentration on grafting process and grafting compatibility of Bougainvillea spectabilis by Bougainvillea variegata. The experiment use Factorial Randomized Block Design with five replications. The first factor was nodes position of scion (1-4, 5-8 and 9-12 from the top of branch). The result indicated that nodes position of scion influence grafting compatibility, nodes position of scion 1-4 (A1) give better influence than nodes position of scion 5-8 (A2) and 9-12 (A3). There was interaction between nodes position of scion with IAA concentration in most of parameter, except on growth and healing percentage. Combination between nodes position of scion 1-4 (A1) with IAA concentration 100 ppm (B2) is better than other combination.Key word: nodes position of scion, IAA concentration, Bougainville. Abstract

Analysis of Organoleptic and Nutrient Content in Rind Flaky of Melinjo. The aim of this research was to find out the best combination of condiment and lengthy soaking time to produce nutritious rind flaky of melinjo and preferred by consumer. The method applied was completely randomized design. The treatments were two factors that are condiment mixture and lengthy soaking time. The condiment mixture consisted of garlic 2% and coriander 1%, garlic 3% and coriander 2%, garlic 4% and coriander 3%. The lengthy soaking time consisted of 20 minutes, 120 minutes, and 20 minutes. There were three replications in each treatment. Data observed was analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and least significant difference (LSD) test at level 0,05. Experimental parameters were measured in first analysis of fresh curries and final analysis of rind flaky of melinjo. Those parameters were the contents of calorie, water, carbohydrate, fat, and vitamin A. Organoleptic test (using sensoric method) was executed by semi trained panelist, covered taste, color, texture, and aroma. The result showed that the condiment mixture of garlic 3% and coriander 2% with lengthy soaking time of 20 minutes was the best characteristic of rind of melinjo.  Keywords: condiment variation, soaking, melinjo's skinned flaky, organoleptik

Abstract

This study was carried out from July to September 2005, to obtain the description or data base on local pig farming at Alak Subdistrict, Kupang City. The method of the research used direct interview to 30 respondents and direct field observation. The results showed that the breeder characteristic at Alak Subdistrict, in the case of prime work, the breeders were enterpreneur; their conservancy experience was 6-10 year; numbers of family member in concerned were 4 people, average of age was 47,7 years old; education level was 66,6% under SLTP; pig ownership was 3 tail; purpose of pig conservancy was used as saving 96,7%, and conservancy systems were extensive 36,7%, flourishing intensive 16,7%, and intensive 46,7%. Therefore, conducting the demplot of pig conservancy, local feed, cage pattern, intensive counseling and use of technology by participative approach.Keyword: Breeder Characteristic, conservancy management, Local Pig, Kota Kupang

Abstract

Study on Medical Plants Habitat in Taman Wisata Alam Camplong. The research aimed to find out the habitat condition of medical plants in Taman Wisata Alam Camplong covering, structure and composition of vegetation, as well as accentual and threat to the medical plants habitat. Collecting data of medical plants habitat covered habitat type, structural and composition of vegetation and accentual/threat to habitat of the plants. Those data were obtained through stocktaking and were analyzed using vegetation analysis. Samples were acquired at line plot of 20 x 1000 m. The line plot, hereinafter, was divided into smaller, depended on growth level and life model of the plants observed. Data of INP (Indeks Nilai Penting = Important Value Index) was to know type of dominant plant (Soerianegara and Indrawan, 1998). The results indicated that habitat type in the area of TWA Camplong included semi fall forest. The highest INP of tree was 42,4884 at taduk (Alstonia scholaris), while, the lowest INP was at papi (wild sandalwood), that is 0,8538. Abstract

Relative Profits of the Product of processed form of coconut oil in Amarasi district. This research aims at knowing the amount of relative profits of processed form of coconut oil in Amarasi district. This research was held since March 2007 until October 2007 in Amarasi district of Kupang regency of East Nusa Tenggara. This employs descriptive method and its data-collecting technique employs survey one. Tesbatan and Apren villages were chosen as samples area by purposing-sampling method. Technique to choose farmers as the respondents is done by using census way and it gets 48 farmers. Data were analyzed by using input-output way in order to know the amount of profits of a processed form, that is, coconut oil. Abstract

Study on Growth of Beranga Kelimutu Banana. This research aimed to collect data on ecological characteristic of banana cultivated in some regions in NTT, performance, and agronomic practice of the banana. Data collected were primary data and secondary data. Primary data consisted of soil properties (moisture, pH, porosity, structure and consistency; NPK content, nutrient content of fruit (glucose, protein, lipid, crude fiber, vitamin C, and Kalium). The entire data were examined using appropriate method. Genetic characteristics of beranga Kelimutu were measured using SDS PAGE. The result showed that the performance of beranga varied among regions due to the difference of soil condition. Some regions are very suitable for growing of beranga. Plant cultivation, such as irrigation, weeding, pruning, fertilizing, and controlling of pests, could increase quantity and quality of yield, although their environment are suitable for development of plant.Based on profile, there was similarity of band from Ndito and Baumata variety. In addition, there was similarity or not similarity specific band at beranga from Nelle Orang, Benpasi, Lokoboko, Bloro, and Kefa Selatan. The existence of band 11 (40,5 kDa), 12 (36 kDa), 14 (33 kDa), 17 (26 kDa) and 18 (25,5 kDa) or not existency of these bands was specific band that differs beranga from Ndito and other varieties that grow outside. Based on plant performance of research location, Lokoboko, Temu and Baumata are suitable for nursery.Key word: banana performance, ecological characteristics of beranga

Abstract

Study Dendrology of Trees Spesies in Kupang State Agricultural Polytechnic. The research was conducted on field of Politani Kupang, in order to identify trees species located in Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Kupang area. The research used Census method to collected materials on the field; Descriptive method to obtained special characteristics of plants, was held on the field and laboratory, and Identification to got trees name by compared the tree with its proponent literatures. The result showed that there were 36 species of trees from 14 families growing in Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Kupang. Those were Alstonia scholaris (L.) R.Br.u, Bombax ceiba Linn, Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn., Delonix regia (Hook.) Raf., Cassia siamea Lamk., Casuarina equisetifolia Blanco, Terminalia, Macaranga tanarius Muell. Arg., Caesalpinia pulcherrima Sw., Acacia auriculiformis A. Cunn. Ex Bth., Acacia mangium Wiilld., Pterocarpus indicus Willd., Cassia fistula Linn., Pongamia pinnata Merr., Erythrina subumbrans Merr. Abstract

The research is experiment in laboratory with using semen from 3 Priangan rams. The experiment use completely Randomized Design (CRD) of 4 x 4 Faktorial with three Priangan rams as replications. The treatment are equilibration time as first faktor with level 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours, and freezing time as second faktor with level 4 minutes, 8 minutes, 12 minutes, and 16 minutes.The variable observed is sperm motility, sperm abnormality, sperm membrane intact and sperm macrodome intact after thawing. Data was analysis by Analysis of Variance and further analysis by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT).The result of experiment show that treatment between 3 hours equilibration and 12 minutes freezing time are the best significantly influence (P 0>01) with significantly (P >0,05) with significantly interaction between two factors on sperm motility, sperm membrane intact and sperm macrodome intact after thawing but there is no interaction(P<0,05) for sperm abnormality after thawing.Keywords: Equilibration, freezing, frozen semen.

Abstract

Study on Defoliation of Sorghum under Cropping Pattern by Mungbean.  The aim of the research was to find out the effect of defoliation of sorghum under cropping pattern toward the yield of sorghum, Mungbean and total relative result of the best sorghum and Mungbean in intercropping system has been carried out in Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Gadjah Mada in Banguntapan, Bantul Regency from February up to June 2006. The research method used was split plot design with 2 factors and 3 repetitions. The main factor was defoliation of sorghum comprising of 2 levels: sorghum defoliation (D1) and without sorghum defoliation (D2). The sub factor of sub was cropping pattern, comprising of 5 levels: monoculture of Mungbean (H100). 75% sorghum: 25% Mungbean (S75 H25), 50% sorghum: 50% Mungbean (S50 H50), 25% sorghum: 75% Mungbean (S25 H75) and monoculture sorghum (S100). The results of the study showed that 1) the defoliation sorghum did not affect the yield of mungbean and sorghum, 2) cropping pattern of mungbean monoculture resulted bean/plant amount, seed/plant weight and seed weight/ha of mungbean as higher compared to other cropping pattern, 3) cropping pattern of 25% sorghum: 75% mungbean resulted seed weight/malai sorghum was higher compared to other planting patterns and the highest seed weight/ hectare was resulted in sorghum monoculture planting pattern, 4) the highest total relative yield was 1,303 given planting pattern at 50% sorghum: 50% mungbean and 5) the form of the relation between sorghum and mungbean in intercropping pattern and sorghum defoliation was complementary, while intercropping and without sorghum defoliation was supplementary.Keywords: defoliation, intercropping, result of mungbean and sorghum, total relative yield

Abstract

The experiment of Seaweed Supplementation on Composite Flour Bases Sweet Bread was conducted at Food Technology Laboratory of Politani Negeri Kupang. The experiment used RCBD with factorial pattern. The factors were Composite flour (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%) and seaweed supplementation (0%, 5%, 10%), and three time replications. The variables observed were volume expansion of dough, porosity, texture, color of crumb, moisture content, total plate count of microorganisms, iodine content and crude fiber content of bread. The data were analyzed using Anova and DMRT test. Seaweed supplementation to bread dough produced the characteristic of bread such as (a) There is no significant on developing of bread, the total of porosity, color of crumb and total plate count of microorganisms, (b) There is significant on texture of bread, the moisture content was increased, iodine content and crude fiber content of bread more higher. Composite flours affected on characteristic of bread: It’s not expansion, the total porosity more higher but the size more narrower, the texture more hard (softness), color of crumb tend darkness, the total microbe colony tend lower, iodine and crude fiber content of bread increased. The best quality sweet bread from this research was the bread made of composite flour 10% and 10% seaweed supplementation.Key words: supplementation, seaweed, composite flours
