Abstract

This study aims to examine the process of cleaning for synthesis gas (syngas) resulted from candlenut shell gasification by using a cyclone. Research was started by design or manufacture a cyclone as a tool that can condense the tar carried in the syngas produced from the gasification process. This tool was tested with by trial and error such that got a tool that can function optimally to condense tar. The syngas cleaning experiment using the cyclone was conducted by four treatments, namely S1 (1 cyclone), S2 (2 cyclones), S3 (3 cyclones), and S4 (4 cyclones).  All treatments were repeated 4 (four) times, so there were 16 experimental units. The parameter measured is the amount of tar that was condensed on the cyclone. Result showed that the syngas cleaning process using a cyclone worked well, and the best treatment was S3 (3 cyclones) with an average amount of condensed tar of 141.7 ml/kg of shell. The use of cyclones can condense tar and other particulates carried in the syngas. The cleaned syngas can be applied as fuel in an internal  combustion engine as a substitute for diesel and gasoline fuels.       Keywords: gasification, syngas, cleaning, cyclone

Abstract

Abstract

The livestock sector of East Nusa Tenggara has a large multiplier impact on the welfare and absorption of labor. One approach used to measure the welfare of farmers is the farmer's exchange rate. The study aims to examine the development of the exchange rate of large ruminant farmers in East Nusa Tenggara with quantitative descriptive and the factors that influence it with a multiple regression model. The data used are the exchange rate of livestock sector farmers and the exchange rate of large ruminant farmers during the period from January 2017 to December 2020 obtained from the Central Statistics Agency. The results showed that although the average exchange rate of large ruminant farmers in East Nusa Tenggara was lower than the National average, the trend was increasing. In part, only the wages of farmworkers have a significant effect on the exchange rate of large ruminants and collectively household consumption expenditures; the price of seedlings; prices of medicines and feed; land rent, taxes, and others; transportation costs; the cost of adding capital goods; and the wages of farmworkers are a significant explanation of the exchange rate of large ruminant cattle farmers. Abstract

One approach to measuring farmers' welfare is the farmer's exchange rate. The study aims to examine the development of exchange rates of farmers in the food crop sector with quantitative descriptiveness and the factors that influence it with multiple regression models. The results showed that from January 2017 to December 2020, the exchange rate of farmers in the food crop sector experienced a downward trend. Household consumption expenditure; price of seedlings; prices of medicines and feed; land rent, taxes, and others; transportation costs; the cost of adding capital goods; and the wages of farmworkers together are significant explanations of the exchange rate of farmers in the food crop sector. Meanwhile, partially, only the price of seeds has a significant effect on the exchange rate of farmers in the food crop sector. Key Words: farmer exchange rate, food crops, East Nusa Tenggara

Abstract

The alignment of economic growth between the processing industry sector and the agricultural sector in the economy will encourage the transfer of surplus labor from the agricultural sector to the processing industry sector. Furthermore, these conditions will have an impact on marginal increases in labor productivity and income in the agricultural sector as well as demand for processing industry products. This study examines the structure of demand and supply, output, gross value added, and final demand of the processing industry sector in the economy of East Nusa Tenggara. The study was conducted from April to October 2023. The analysis method used is a quantitative analysis of the East Nusa Tenggara Input-Output Table in 2020 which was compiled from the update of the East Nusa Tenggara Input-Output Table in 2017. The results of the analysis show that based on the output and gross value added generated in the economy, the food and beverage industry sector can be categorized as a leading processing industry sector. The processing industry sector uses inputs that mostly come from production within the region and the final demand of the sector is mostly used for household consumption. Policymakers need to prioritize the development of the leading processing industry sector, namely the food and beverage industry sector based on domestic inputs, especially inputs originating from the agricultural sector to increase competitiveness and be able to meet intermediate demand by other economic sectors and export needs. In addition, it is also necessary to increase profitability, productivity, and output growth in the food and beverage industry sector to increase its competitiveness and a more conducive investment climate because future investment opportunities are still quite large.
