Prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia has reached 25.8%; Yogyakarta is the third largest prevalence in Indonesia, and hypertension in Seyegan sub-district is ranked first most diagnosed. Hypertension can lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and strokes. Knowledge related to hypertension of residents, especially youth is still quite low. Youth is provided with education and training on how to measure blood pressure and basic knowledge related to hypertension. The education was done by discussion using Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method, then youth made program to overcome hypertension problem. Conducted blood pressure screening and interviews about the lifestyle of residents to determine the cause of hypertension. Blood pressure screening and interviews were analyzed by chi square or fisher, increased youth knowledge from pre-test and post-test analyzed with kolmogorov-smirnov and analyzed by paired T test with 95% confidence level. There was no significant effect between BMI, education and exercise on blood pressure, but there was a significant influence between smoking and consumption of foods high in salt and fat to blood pressure. The results of pre-test and post-test showed an increase in youth knowledge from the beginning only 5.27 to 7.37 with p-value 0.000 (p <0.05). Provision of education to youth increases the level of knowledge related to hypertension.

Society services activity on cattle waste management system have been implemented in Sido Mulyo Livestock Farmers Group at Pulosari, Jumoyo, Salam, Magelang. Animal byproducts that consist of feces and urine of cattle wastewas processed into organic fertilizer compost and liquid fertilizer. Sido Mulyo Livestock Farmer Group has one unit of 20 m3 biodigester to accommodate the feces from approximately 30 cattle owned by the group member. Biogas has been used as a fuel source for family group members located around the cage. Slurry resulted from anaerobic digestion of biodigester disposed to pastures located on the right side of the cage. Ownership system in the groupis every group member hasa responsibility for taking care of their own cattle. The number of livestock owned by each member of the SidoMulyoLivestock Farmers Group ranged between 1 to 4 cattle. Society services methods that have been implemented was in the form of mentoring for a member of the Sido Mulyogroup.The other activities that have been implemented was the training and development of cattle industry, especially the handling of livestock waste in the form of feces, urine, and the feed residue. The activities was continued by the manufacture of compost packaging design, followed by the last series of activities such as monitoring and program development. The enthusiasm of the group members in joining to the extension activities is very good. The timing of the extension are determined in the afternoon after members of the group have finished searching feed for their cattle. The sustainability forwaste processing into organic fertilizer compost and liquid organic fertilizer becomes a major concern, because it is highly dependent on consumer demand.

This Community Service program is funded by DIPA scheme of RISET DIKTI No. DIPA-042.06-0.1.401516/2016, which implicated two entrepreneurship groups of empowering woman: Sanggar Jenggolo in Pandean District who produce batik and Sekar Arum (then called ‘Code Arum’) in Cokrodiningratan district who produce jumputan or tie-dye, both in Yogyakarta city. The two groups had been incubated and assisted by The Office for Women and Society Empowerment (Kantor Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Masyarakat—abbreviated as KPMP) of Yogyakarta Municipal Government for three years. After the accompaniment they face declining of production since it does not fulfill with the business and promotion assistance. Therefore this Community Service program aims to encourage the sustainability of the group with the creation of a Business Plan and Strategy of Promotion to penetrate the target market. We were conducting the training, providing with supporting tools based digital, and producing attributes for their promotion. Furthermore there were outcomes achieved; (A) the core of a Business Plan so that each groups has a priority of their business as well as a guideline for evaluating the development of its business during period of Business Plan. (B) The attributes of corporate identity is implemented through a variety of promotion sale.

Problems faced by the society in Lambanan village are the lack of knowledge and skills of farmers in managing the maintenance goat, the unability of utilizing and processing goat milk and most societies work as goat breeder and farmer. Purpose of this community dedication is to provide skills and the knowledge for the farmers in the Lambanan village about techniques and milking ways as well as handling and processing milk of goat. Method used is partisipative elucidation followed by demonstration and practice. Te training activities which are conducted on 25—26 June 2016 in main hall of Lambanan village ofce, began with in-class learning about maintenance management, handling, processing and marketing management the goat of PE, then followed by demonstrating outside about technique of milking and processing milk of goat pasteurization. Te products of pasteurized goat milk were packaged in glass that was commercialized with label Suke. Te conclusion of this activity shows that the training activities looked very enthusiastic to join this training and actively ask about goat milk processing.

Oral health problem in Indonesian has increased. Yogyakarta is the fourth province with the highest number oral health problem and the third province with the highest Effective Medical Demands (EMD) for oral health in Indonesia. This fact indicates that it needs the attention of many parties to solve this problem, especially in Yogyakarta. Through community empowerment, community will be able to independently maintain their oral health and can be expected to be one of a solution to overcome the existing problems.The establishment of Oral Health Cadre (KADEGI) is a form of community empowerment strategy in terms of human resource development. Community empowerment, using the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) method, is very effective to help the KADEGI mastered several skills such as (a) able to do dental health education, (b) able to do early detection of oral disease and (c) able to refer oral health cases to the nearest public health services (puskesmas).The results of KADEGI's work in data collecting of oral health problem in Desa Panjangrejo showed that from 1.198 respondents who were examined, 64% of respondents had tooth cavities and 49% had debris and calculus. These data indicate that Desa Panjangrejo’s resident are still need special attention in oral health problem by various parties.

Limitations and scarcity of natural energy resources has forced the government to develop new renewable energy, one of them by making a pilot hybrid power plant project or Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Hybrid (PLTH) in coast Pantai Baru, Pandansimo, Bantul. It is an innovative attempt at once problematic, innovative efforts appear because electricity that facilitated community and business opportunity to improve their welfare. Instead, the change still leaves the problem and contestation among stakeholders. Vulnerable groups like women are the groups that most affected by such change. They perform a dual role at the domestic level as well as the public, unfortunately these changes make them as objects rather than subjects of the new renewable energy projects. An effort to shift the women from the position of an object to be the subject of renewable energy is not easy task. In response, the methodological attempt to do is to choose action research to strengthen women as agents of change in the post-construction PLTH. The result, although not all involved, a group of coastal women can no longer be considered vulnerable, but it has become one of the new strengths of coastal communities around PLTH.

The enhancing of information technology and internet, resulting in digital information resources are very abundant. Now days, the students in Indonesia as a digital native has a high dependence on the internet. The lack of information literacy skill among learners has a bad impacts. One of them is many plagiarism of copyrighted work happened in the school academic . This becomes a challenge for teachers and school librarian to solve this problem. The purpose of this information literacy training program is to provide skills for teachers and school librarian in order to teach students to be able to recognize what kinds of information are needed, electronic information sources, digital information sources search strategies, and information evaluation. Thus, the engagement community entitled "Information Literacy Training In The Digital Age For Teacher and School Librarian In Central Jakarta " has a positive impact to improve information literacy skill for teachers and school librarian as well as students.

Bulakbaru village in JeparaDistrict is a village located in the northeastern coast of Java Sea. This village is prone to abrasion. Each year its land was reduced by between 50 to 100 meters. The existing vegetation in the area is only some mangroves, so that the condition of this coastal area has become more extreme. This condition requires efforts to improve and manage the coastal area potential with a variety of methods. Coastal rehabilitation requires strong human resources, equipped with appropriate science and technology for the coastal community. The research aims to encourage karang tarunato manage coastal potential and transfer simple technology for the rehabilitation of the coastal area so that the community can participate actively in preserving a sustainable environment. This programcomprises methods of public education, consultation, diffusion of science and technology, training and mediation. In the implementation of the program it was evident that the community, particularly members of karangtaruna, actively participated in all activities so that they could learn the science and technology and became more open-minded in managing the potential of their coastal village. Large portion of the the coastal rehabilitation technology can be transfered to the community. The village community was able to realize the importance of mutual cooperation to manage their environment in order that it can be sustainable.

Waste management generally is the responsibility of local government.“Kartamantul” cooperation of waste management in Yogyakarta, Sleman and Bantul, waste disposal is concentrated in TPSA (waste dump) Piyungan, particularly in Sitimulyo Village. The volume of the waste is increased which leads to the limitation of TPSA capacity. Recently, government has been experiencing difficulty to provide waste dump facility. In this critical period, the participation of college institution to deliver its sollution and devotion is highly required. Universitas Gadjah Mada, as one of college institutions that concerns to problem raised in environment, has carried out society empowerment. Through action research methodology and data collection technique of direct participative observation, interview, documentation, and focus group discussion can arrange action plan. UGM team along with the society continuously performs experiments until KPSM has professional to produce both solid and liquid organik fertilizer. The intensity of education, consultation, and mentoring has resulted in KPSM capacity enhancement. Pioneering program in environment and household waste management is the opening to the development of “Sitimulyo” organik fertilizer. Besides organik fertilizer produced with organik waste is used by local community, it also has been sold to consumer.

Community engagement activities, science and technology development for community for one of the partner SIGMA Food, Sawangan, Depok, has been done with purpose to overcome the priority problems, which are improving quality and quantity of Aloe vera juice products and diversification of Aloe vera products into jams. The abdimas team, act as the facilitator and instructor, has trained/accompanied (a) quality improvement training/counseling for Aloe vera juice by preservative addition; (b) quality improvement of Aloe vera juice in SIGMA Food by pasteurization and sterilization; and (c) diversification of Aloe vera jam product processing. The result of this training is known for improving partner’s understandings in (a) quality improvement of Aloe vera juices by preservative addition, bottle packaging sterilization process, and Aloe vera juice pasteurization; and (b) diversification of Aloe vera products.
