Abstract

Indonesia will be projected to be maritime axis in the world. Indonesian potential as a maritime country inspires Nawacita vision established by Joko Widodo in his cabinet. This ambitions must be supported by coastal communities. The province of West Sulawesi has a long coastal territory than other provinces in Indonesia. It should be exploited to promote the realization of Nawacita for the better Indonesia in the future. In education sector, 2013 curriculum introduces that teachers must implement scientific approach to their learning. Physics is one of the subjects that is still considered difficult by students. It will be more complex when it is taught by scientific approach. In other hand, physics is one of the most important subjects in preparing high school students for their job in science and technology. Contextual learning could be a solution in delivering physics to students. Without forgetting the 2013 curriculum, physics learning in the context of ocean literacy owned by West Sulawesi can lead students to gain meaningful experience. Based on these considerations, this article will discuss how to integrate ocean literacy into physics learning.

Abstract

This article is a part of the research related to the development of gamification models to improve critical and creative thinking skills of pre-service physics teachers (PPTs). This case study is a preliminary research to describe the potential of gamification in physics experiments that was involved 25 PPTs at one of the universities in Bandung. The potential of gamification was analyzed from the results of observations, and the monitoring of the physics experiment activities assisted by WhatsApp social media. Through the implementation of gamification, physics experiments can be designed like gameplay so that it was expected to motivate PPTs to be more actively involved in physics experiment activities. Besides that, the presence of gamification can create an atmosphere of physics experiments to be more enjoyable.

Abstract

Synthesis and characterization of the electrochemical properties of manganese ferrite nanoparticles (\ce {MnFe2O4}) from iron ore have been done. The aim of this research was to determine the potential of iron ore as a source for the manufacture of \ce {MnFe2O4} and to know electrochemical characterization. The precipitation method was used in this research. Iron ore samples were taken from Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. The sample of iron ore was purified first to synthesis MnFe2O4 nanoparticle. Manganese salt \ce {MnCl2} is used as a source of manganese. Characterization of samples use TEM and potentiostat. Glucose oxidase (GOD) is used as a sample to be given electrochemical properties of the sample. The GOD concentration used is 0.2; 0.4; 0.6; and 0.8 ppm. The range of \ce {MnFe2O4} nanoparticles was successfully made with sample diameters ranging from 1.5 to 12.5 nm. The current values ​​obtained on \ce {MnFe2O4} nanoparticles range from $0.226 - 0.322$ mA. The sensitivity of \ce {MnFe2O4} nanoparticles is around 0.16 mA/ppm. The higher the concentration used, the greater the current produced.

Abstract

Synthesized carbon dots (CDs) from paper flowers (Bougainvillea spectabilis) was performed by microwave assisted. CDs were characterized by ultraviolet visible light (UV-Vis), photoluminescence (PL) and time resolved luminescence (TRPL). PL data shows wavelength intensity of CDs paper flowers at 493 nm for 3.9 ns and 512 nm for 4.2 ns respectively for purple and white paper flowers that excited at 420 nm. The absorbance for CDs white paper flower at 262 nm and 350 nm, while CDs purple flower paper at 260 nm, 324 nm, and 530 nm. CDs from paper flower shows excellent optical properties. So, it is mean that method applied to this experiment effectively, cheap and eco-friendly for synthesis CDs from paper flower.

Abstract

Assessment is an important component in the implementation of education. Efforts to improve the quality of education can be pursued through improving the quality of learning and the quality of the assessment system. Assessment must include cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. This study aims to produce a portfolio with a scientific approach that can assess three aspects, namely cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Advancement of education needs to be thoroughly designed from the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages of learning. Assessment methods that are carried out include research and development using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Then, the product is validated by material expert lecturers, media experts, assessment experts, and teachers. The result of product feasibility testing in the form of portfolios are stated to be good and very good and it can be concluded that based on the expert validator's assessment, the product developed is stated to be suitable for use.

Abstract

Research on the effect of using multimedia-based 3D flipbook learning media on physics learning outcomes of 11th science grade students in work and energy subjects has been carried out. This research is based on problems in education, especially the use of multimedia learning in the subject of work and energy in physics. Research conducted at SMA PGRI 109 Tangerang using the experimental design method in the form of posttest only with 48 students as samples that divided into 2 groups of classes, experimental class and control class.Based on the results of the analysis on the prerequisite test, using Chi Square test, the estimated results: from the experimental class and the control class, $X_\text{count} < X_\text{table}$; with a significant level of $\alpha=0.05$, it means the research class, experimental class, and control class, are normally distributed. For the homogeneity test using the Fisher test obtained $F_\text{count} < F_\text{table}$, which is equal to $1.017 < 2.069$, then the research class is homogeneous distribution. In the last stage, hypothesis testing was performed by $t$-test and the result was $t_\text{count} = 8.621 > t_\text{table(0.05)} = 2.014$; which means $H_0$ is rejected. Based on the calculation of the hypothesis test, it can be concluded that there is the effect of the use of multimedia-based 3D flipbook learning media on physics learning outcomes for students of 11th science grade in work and energy subjects.

Abstract

This research aims to get an overview of the differences in the increase in cognitive abilities and retention of college students who get basic physics learning based on value use scientific methods and without use scientific methods, and get an overview of the relationship between retention and cognitive abilities of college students who get basic physics learning based on value use scientific methods. The research conducted use a quasi-experimental method with a randomised control group design pretest-posttest design. The population is all college students of the Physics Education Study Programme 2016-2017 odd semester at one of the Private Universities in Jakarta. Samples of two classes selected by cluster random sampling. The results showed that there was an increase in cognitive abilities and retention of college students in both classes. However, the magnitude of the increase in the experimental class was more significant than the control class. The normalised gain average score for cognitive abilities in the experimental class is 0.78 which meets the high criteria, and in the control class is 0.65 which meets the criteria of being. While the normalised gain average score for student retention resistance in the experimental class is 0.68 which meets the criteria of being, and the control class is 0.47 which meets the criteria of being. Based on the average difference test, at the 95% confidence level, the results of the study show that value-based basic physics learning using scientific methods can significantly improve cognitive abilities and college student retention resistance. In addition, the results of the study also showed that there was a strong and significant relationship between cognitive abilities and student retention resistance with a correlation value of 0.63.

Abstract

Sample \ce {La_{0.67}Sr_{0.33}MnO3} has been successfully synthesized by sol gel method shown by the results of XRD formed a single phase with rhombohedral crystal structure. The results of SEM showed particles are agglomerated yet functional groups \ce {Mn-O-Mn} has been formed based on the results of FTIR. The ability of the sample to absorb the microwaves still lower that the value of reflection loss obtained at $-26.05$ dB.

Abstract

Simulation of radiation calculation of black body by using the interpolation method is designed to facilitate the determination of radiation in black matter efficiency. Fortran programming languages are chosen for computational processes. The calculation program that has been designed is able to calculate the efficiency of black body radiation easily and quickly with a fairly small error rate of 0.5\%. The light radiation spectrum of objects is around 1000, 1100, 1200, and 1300 $^{\circ}$C. The $x$ axis shows the wavelength, while the $y$ axis shows the intensity or strength of light. If we pay attention to the curvature of 1000 $^{\circ}$C, along with the increasing frequency of light, the intensity of light is also getting stronger aka more bright. But at certain light frequencies, the line reaches the peak, and after that the light intensity drops dramatically. At temperatures of 1200 $^{\circ}$C and 1300 $^{\circ}$C, even though the temperature rises, the outline of the line graph is similar to the line 1000 $^{\circ}$C. This is in accordance with the existing theoretical and experimental results.

Abstract

Keterampilan proses sains (KPS) merupakan salah satu keterampilan yang banyak ditekankan pada kurikulum pendidikan dalam beberapa tahun terakhir ini. Untuk mengetahui capaian keterampilan tersebut, maka dibutuhkan alat ukur yang valid dan reliabel. Oleh karena itu, penelitian dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengkarakterisasi tes keterampilan proses sains berdasarkan teori respon butir. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain konstruksi dan validasi tes. Proses konstruksi menghasilkan tes KPS berbentuk pilihan ganda pada materi ?uida statis yang mengukur lima aspek KPS. Sedangkan proses validasi didasarkan pada penilaian tes oleh lima orang ahli dan uji coba tes oleh siswa-siswa kelas sebelas dari tiga sekolah di Jawa Barat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tes KPS dapat dikatakan valid baik berdasarkan analisis menggunakan validitas isi V Aiken maupun analisis dengan teori respon butir. Hasil analisis kurva karakteristik tes menunjukkan bahwa tes KPS memiliki daya pembeda dalam kategori baik, tingkat kesukaran dalam kategori sedang dan faktor tebakan semu dalam kategori kurang baik. Hasil analisis fungsi informasi, tes KPS yang telah dikonstruksi reliabel dan dapat digunakan untuk partisipan dengan kategori kemampuan rendah hingga kemampuan tinggi. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa tes KPS pada materi ?uida statis valid dan reliabel.
