Abstract

The reduction of chromium concentration in Samarinda sarong wastewater by electrocoagulation method has been carried out. The research used Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) as an instrument determination level. To determination the optimum levels of each parameters by large percent qualified of electrocoagulation process with used variation of series parameters such as time contact, variation voltage and the distance of electrode. The result of research showed that degradation and is big of elimination percent of metal of Cr have an in with the effect of time contact, voltage and also distance of electrode at optimum hence in getting result of final concentration successively 31,250; 21,325 and 17,925 ppm of concentration early 50,650 ppm. Big of elimination percent of exclusion at optimum parameter in getting result successively 38,302; 57,897 and 64,610 %. Resulted in this research obtained optimum time contact is 30 minutes, optimum voltage is 4,5 volt and optimum distance of electrode is 1 cm.Keywords: Chromium, Samarinda sarong wastewater, Electrocoagulation, Metal electrode

Abstract

Kerehau (Callicarpa longifolia Lam.) is one of the biodiversity used as traditional medicine by one of the indigenous tribes of Borneo, called Dayak Tunjung. The purpose of this study was to determine about toxicity level of the Kerehau leaves (Callicarpa longifolia Lam.) to larvae shrimps (Artemia Salina Leach) and to determine the content of the active compounds contained in the Kerehau leaves (Callicarpa longifolia Lam.). The research was conducted by extracting samples with methanol and then concentrated by rotary evaporator. Total extract fractionated with n-hexane and chloroform, and then column chromatography applicated to chloroform fraction. Phytochemicals and BSLT have been test to Isolates chromatography results, total extract and chloroform extracts to determine the level of toxicity, FTIR analysis was also performed to isolate the results of Chromatography. Based on the results test of phytochemical compounds secondary metabolites of Kerehau leaves (Callicarpa longifolia Lam.) indicated that the methanol extract containing steroid compounds, phenolics, and flavonoids. Chloroform fractions containing flavonoids and steroid compounds. Isolates Chloroform fraction containing Steroids compounds. On Brine Shrimp Lethality Test, death of larvae shrimps (Artemia Salina Leach) were recorded and processed using SAS Probit analysis to determine the value of Lethal Concentration (LC50) to the value of each is, in chloroform isolates with LC50 values of 96.4096 ppm, chloroform extract had LC50 values of 104.1878 ppm and methanol extract had LC50 values of 485.1681 ppm. In Chloroform fraction separation and purification using column chromatography and recrystallization techniques to produce pure compound that is found in fractions A.f. The compounds were characterized by FTIR spectrometer spectroscopy. Based on FTIR analysis of the isolates showed chloroform fraction compound characterization using IR spectrophotometer is IR λmaks cm -1 : 3248.12; 2862.36; 2939.52; 2607.76; 2345.44; 1458.18;1496.76; 1597.06; 1172.72; 1226.73; 1288.45; 1658.78; 1095.57; 1002.98, and 941.26. Abstract

Resin DEAE Separose Fast Flow adalah salah satu resin yang digunakan dalam kromatografi penukar ion. Dalam aplikasi resin diinstruksikan penggunaan konstan laju alir dalam proses packing kolom sangat terbatas yaitu dengan ketentuan bed height (tinggi resin dalam kolom) 15 cm. Di sisi lain, pengguna resin tidak selalu menggunakan jumlah resin yang sama banyak dan jenis kolom yang berbeda. Sehingga, proses kemas pada kolom gelas kaca (SAC 100/500 mm) maka, diperlukan studi lebih lanjut untuk menentukan tinggi kolom. Penelitian ini menggunakan laju alir yang direkomendasikan dari pemasok dan juga menggunakan laju alir yang berada di bawah rekomendasi pemasok, karena semakin tinggi laju alir membuat hasil kemas pada kolom tidak efisien. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa laju alir yang baik adalah 150 mL/menit yang memberikan nilai asimetri 1,8 dan nilai HETP (angka lempeng teoritis) yang memenuhi criteria dibanding dengan menggunakan laju alir yang lainnya.

Abstract

Chromium in tannery wastewater is still a problem for the industry. Treatment of tannery wastewater using conventional way is not enough. Alternative wastewater treatment such as adsorption methods is needed. This review summarizes and discusses the state of the art of research on adsorbents in addition to commercial activated carbon for tannery wastewater treatment.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang isolasi selulosa dari eceng gondok (Eichhornia crassipes) melalui proses ekstraksi sokletasi, delignifikasi dan bleaching, dilanjutkan dengan sintesis asetilasi dengan memasukkan gugus asetat ke dalam gugus fungsi selulosa hasil isolasi telah dilakukan. Membran selulosa asetat-PVC dibuat dengan mencampurkan selulosa asetat dengan polivinilklorida (PVC) sebagai matriks yang terlebih dahulu dilarutkan dengan pelarut tetrahidrofuran (THF), kemudian ditambahkan dioktilftalat (DOP) sebagai pemlastis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa eceng gondok dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi membran selulosa asetat-PVC dengan komposisi optimum pada perbandingan selulosa asetat : PVC : DOP yaitu 6:3:1. Hasil analisis FT-IR menunjukkan adanya interaksi antar ion Cu2+ dengan membran dilihat dari penurunan intensitas serapan sebelum dan sesudah didop yaitu 78.564 % menjadi 66.857 %  pada gugus C=O dari selulosa asetat. Hal ini diperkuat dengan analisis SEM yang menunjukkan morfologi permukaan membran yang porinya diduga terisi oleh ion logam Cu2+. Kata Kunci : Eceng gondok, Membran selulosa asetat-PVC, Tembaga (II)

Abstract

The research of desalination the sea water by utilization of the strach bump a “Pisang Ambon (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum)” modification has been done. Modification of starch bump “Pisang Ambon (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum)” had be a ability better than starch bump “Pisang Ambon (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum)” in the levels of chloride. The variation upon which to do to absorb chloride of sea water which are starch, starch been activated NaOH and starch acetate bump of a “Pisang Ambon (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum)”. Where The characteristic of the third ingredients were done by analysis FT-IR that showed the spectrum in the wavenumber of each of which are read the force –OH,C-H streaching, C-H bending, CO ester in the spectrum of starch and starch been activated with NaOH and then are read the ester C=O in the wave number of 1751,36/cm and C-O ester and forth on the wave number of 1234,44/cm to the full spectrum of starch acetate. The rendemen a modification of the starch was also shown the modified starch in the bump a “Pisang Ambon (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum)” then more starch obtained. And which after passed a sample of starch bumb “Pisang Ambon (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum)” wet sea water left in levels chloride 20.160,77 mg/L, in the starch bump “Pisang Ambon (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum)” dry sea water left in levels of chloride 19.783,23 mg/L, in the starch bump “Pisang Ambon (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum)” have been activated with NaOH wet sea water left in the levels of chloride 19.405,68 mg/L, in the starch bump “Pisang Ambon (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum)” have been activated with NaOH dry sea water left in levels of chloride 19.028,14 mg/L and in the starch acetat bump “Pisang Ambon (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum)” sea water left in levels of chloride 18.461,83 mg/L.Keywords: the water of the sea, salt chloride, spectrum FTIR, starch and modification of starch bump a Pisang Ambon (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum)

Abstract

Phytochemical test and antihyperglicemic activity from ethanol extract dan n-hexane extract from kembang bulan (Tithonia diversifolia A.Gray) leaf has been carried out. Based on the test result of phytochemistry of secondary metabolites compounds from kembang bulan (Tithonia diversifolia A.Gray) leaf showed that ethanol extract fraction containing flavonoid, fenolik, alkaloid and saponin. Whereas at n-hexane extract fraction containing alkaloid, saponin and steroid. Antihyperglicemic activity test using the method of glucose tolerance where a white male rats got induced by sucrose. Measurement of blood sugar levels using glucometer and glucose test strip. From this test shows that the most active fractions to reduce blood sugar levels was ethanol extract with a dose of 77 mg/kg BB with percentage of blood sugar levels reduction in the amount of 54.15 % it was close with reduction percentage from acarbose as positive control in the amount of 55.57 %.

Abstract

Research on synthesis N-lauroyl serinamide through serine reaction with methyl laurate and lauroyl chloride has been carried out. Synthesis N-lauroyl serinamide by two reaction methods, the first method was through the esterification reaction of lauric acid to produce methyl laurate and then an amidation reaction was carried out by serine to produce N-lauroyl serinamide with percent yield of 73.86% and HLB value of 6.54. Through the FTIR test showed vibration absorption of the carbonyl amide group at wave number 1624.96 cm-1. The second method is through the chlorination reaction where lauric acid is converted to lauroyl chloride and then an amidation reaction is carried out by serine to produce N-lauroyl serinamide with percent yield of 93.75% and HLB value of 7.27. Through the FTIR test showed vibration absorption of the amide carbonyl group at wave number 1631.78 cm-1. The result shows that N-lauroyl serinamide can be synthesized through serine reaction with methyl laurate and lauroyl chloride which can be used as an emulsifier o/w (oil in water).

Abstract

Interaction study of active compounds of a medicinal plant with cervical cancer cells using the Docking Molecular (In Silico) method. In this research design the active compound sophoraflavanone B, 5,7,3 ', 4'-tetrahidroxy-3,6-diprenylflavone, apigenin and quercetin are first calculated using a quantum approach based on SCF method set 3-21G to obtain a stable compound form and has the lowest energy. Stable compounds interact with cervical cancer cells obtained from protein bank data (GDP) that have been prepared previously to obtain an inhibitory energy value, the number of hydrogen bonds and other factors that influence a Docking Molecular calculation. The interaction of compounds 5,7,3 ', 4'-tetrahydroxy-3,6-diprenylflavone against E6-HPV of 4 hydrogen bonds with a distance of 2.7-3.23 Å.

Abstract

Durian fruit already famous enough in Indonesian society. Not only the content of the fruit, but Durian also have many advantage for example the seed, leather, root and the leaves that useful for human healthy. Then, phytochemical screening test and antioxidant activity test. Antioxidant activity test use scavenging test to 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryhidrazil (DPPH) radical. On antioxidant activity test, mix of extract and DPPH are incubate for 30 minutes, then the absorbance is measured on λ = 514 nm using spectrophotometer. The absorbance from sample, blank, and negative control are converted as Antioxidant Activity Absorbance (AA%). Based on result of phytochemical ethanol extract, Durian steud contain of fenolic, flavonoid, alkaloid, and tryterpenoid. Based on antioxidant activity test with DPPH radical scavenging method by spectrophotometer. Ethanol extract of Durian has antioxidant activity about EC 50 23,10 μg/mL and Vitamin C as comparison has antioxidant about EC 50 3,76 μg/mL.
