Abstract

Mathematics students are learning outcomes associated with many factors. Learning style, independence learning, and parents’ attention are some of the factors allegedly related to learning outcomes. The researches are intended to know about is there any positive correlation and significance or not between learning style, independence learning, parents’ attention and mathematics learning outcomes of grade X Visual Communication Design students of State Vocational High School 5 Yogyakarta (SMK Negeri 5 Yogyakarta) in the even semester of the academic year of 2016/2017.  The population in this research was the student's grade X Visual Communication Design of SMK Negeri 5 Yogyakarta of 2016/2017, consisting of class  X Visual Communication Design A and class X Visual Communication Design B,  totaling 62 students. Samples were taken from X Visual Communication Design B as the research sample class and random sampling technique. The writer uses a questionnaire method to collect the learning style, independence learning, parents’ attention, and test method to get the resulting learning of math. The research instrument: validity test, different power test, and reliability test. Test requirement analysis includes a test of normality, a test of linearity, and independence. The writer uses product-moment correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis to analyze the data. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between learning style, independence learning, parents’ attention with mathematics learning outcomes of grade X Visual Communication Design students of SMK Negeri 5 Yogyakarta in the even semester of the academic year of 2016/2017. Abstract

The low student learning outcomes are influenced by several factors, one of which is the model used in the less varied learning of mathematics still centered on the teacher. This study aims to determine more effective learning between mathematics learning using the cooperative learning model type to match mathematics learning using a direct learning model to students' mathematics learning outcomes. The population in this study were all eight grade students of Muhammadiyah Junior High School 2 Kalasan (SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Kalasan) in Academic Year 2016/2017, which consists of 5 classes. The sampling technique using a random sampling class and selected VIII E as an experimental class and VIII C as a control class. The data was collected used in the test method. Instrument testing used validity and reliability test. Data analysis techniques used for the analysis include the prerequisite test, normality test, and homogeneity test. To test the hypothesis in this study, a two-party t-test and one-party t-test with a significant level of 5% were tested. Based on mathematics learning result obtained that 1) tcount = 4,2948 and ttable = = 2,0650 which means > . This means that there is a difference in learning outcomes between learning mathematics using a cooperative learning model type. It makes a match with mathematics learning using a direct learning model of eight grade students of Muhammadiyah Junior High school 2 Kalasan (SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Kalasan) of even semester in Academic Year 2016/2017. 2)  tcount = 4,2948 and ttable = = 1,7116 which means tcount  > . This shows that the learning of mathematics with the cooperative learning model type make a match is more effective than the learning of mathematics using direct learning model towards mathematics learning outcomes in eight grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Kalasan of even semester in Academic Year 2016/2017.

Abstract

Monotonous and teacher-centered learning makes students passive and lacks the courage to express opinions in teaching and learning activities. Therefore, an appropriate model is needed to encourage student activeness, which is with model-eliciting activities. This study aims to determine whether there is a difference between learning by using model-eliciting activities and traditional class models. This model is more effective between the two models of the learning model on student learning outcomes. The population in this study consisted of class VII Muhammadiyah Junior High School Banguntapan (SMP Muhammadiyah Banguntapan), which consists of five classes. A sample of 2 classes with the number of 60 students was taken by purposive technique and obtained class VII C as the experimental class and class VII D as control class. The research instrument is a problem-solving test with data analysis using a two-part hypothesis test and a one-party hypothesis test. The results of a hypothesis test of the experimental class with a significant level of 5% and df=58 showed that: (1) There was a difference between students' problem-solving abilities using learning model eliciting activities with problem-solving skills of students learning using traditional class models and (2) eliciting activities model more effectively than traditional class models of problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

The learning process centered on teachers has resulted in a lack of mathematical problem-solving ability. This study aims to determine (1) To know the differences of student's ability to solve mathematics problems by using a cooperative learning model of TPS type and students taught using the Direct learning model, (2) Effectiveness of TPS type cooperative learning model compared to Direct learning model. This type of research uses quantitative research methods. This study's population is the students of class VII Semester II Muhammadiyah Junior High School 1 Yogyakarta (SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta) academic year 2016/2017. Sampling was done by random sampling to class, selected class VII F as experiment class, and VII G as control class. The technique of collecting data by a test method. This research instrument is a math problem-solving test in the form of a description problem. Data analysis used was a t-test, normality test using the Chi-Square formula, and homogeneity test using the Bartlet test with a 5% significant level. Hypothesis test in this research uses two parties, t-test and one party t-test with a 5% significant level. Based on the results of this study at a significant level of 5% and degrees of freedom 62, then obtained: (1) count and ttable  obtained tcount> ttable, so rejected. Then there are differences in the problem-solving skills of students whom mathematics using the cooperative learning model of TPS type with students who are using the Direct learning model. (2)  count   and ttable  obtained tcount > ttable so rejected. So it can be concluded that the model of cooperative learning TPS type is more effective than the direct learning model to the problem-solving ability of mathematics.

Abstract

Learning is a human process to achieve a wide range of competencies, skills, and attitudes. The availability of mathematics teaching materials at SMP Negeri 1 Tempel and MTs Negeri 2 Sleman still lacks, especially the teaching materials that use The Open-Ended approach. The student worksheet based on The Open-Ended approach is one of the teaching materials alternatives that can be used to facilitate teachers and empower students. This research aims to develop and test the feasibility of the student worksheet using The Open-Ended approach for grade VII SMP / MTs students in the second semester on the Quadrangle two-dimensional shapes material.  The research was done through a procedural development model. The stages in developing student worksheets using The Open-Ended approach were preliminary research, data collection, product development, product validation, and product trial. The subjects of research and development were materials experts, media experts, and students. In this research, material experts and media experts were expert lecturers and grade VII junior high school mathematics teachers. Data collection techniques used were interviews and questionnaires. The type of data used was qualitative data, which was then converted into quantitative data. Data analysis using a qualitative descriptive analysis technique was used to describe the development of student worksheets. The descriptive statistic was to analyze the questionnaire of the feasibility test of material experts, media experts, and the student response to the worksheet. The result of the research and development succeeded in making student worksheets using The Open-Ended approach for grade VII SMP / MTs student on the Quadrangle materials. The assessment of the material experts, media experts, and student responses to the student worksheet using The Open-Ended approach is 84.21% with very reasonable criteria. These results indicate that the student worksheet using The Open-Ended approach for grade VII SMP / MTs student on the Quadrangle two-dimensional shapes material is very feasible in the learning process
