Abstract

Interest is one of the affective aspects affecting student's achievement. This study aims to increase students' interest in learning mathematics in class VIII E students of State Junior High School (SMP N) 2 Sanden, Bantul Regency using peer tutor methods. The type of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). This study's subjects were 28 students of class VIII E SMP N 2 Sanden, Bantul Regency. The object of this study was learning using peer tutor methods. Data collection techniques used observation and questionnaire methods. Data collection instruments were observation sheets, questionnaires, and documentation. The data collected was analyzed by qualitative descriptive. This study indicates that mathematics learning with peer tutor methods can increase students' interest in learning mathematics for students of class VIII E of SMP N 2 Sanden. This is indicated by increasing students' interest in learning mathematics from cycle I to cycle II. In the first cycle, students' average score in learning mathematics is 62.23 with fewer categories. In cycle II the average score of students' interest in learning mathematics increase to 71.88 in the high category.

Abstract

The direct learning method's use affects students' passive participation in classroom activities, resulting in poor mathematics learning outcomes. This study aims to know the effectiveness of team assisted individualization on mathematics learning outcomes of grade VII students of State Junior High School (SMPN) 1 Ngemplak, Sleman Regency in the even semester of the academic year 2017/2018. This study belongs to quantitative research. This study's populations were six classes of grade VII SMPN 1 Ngemplak, Sleman Regency in the even semester of the academic year of 2017/2018. Random sampling technique was applied to take the sample of this research: grade VII students class B in the treatment class; class E in the experiment class using team assisted individualization cooperative learning; and class C in the control class using direct learning model. The research instruments used in this study were multiple-choice tests. The research instruments were tested using a validity test, differential test, and reliability test. The data were analyzed using a normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis test for the prerequisite analysis, including t-test. From two-party t-test with  of significance level and  degrees of freedom resulted in . Thus  is rejected. This means that students' mathematics learning outcomes between those taught using team assisted individualization cooperative learning and direct learning.  A one-party t-test with a 5% significance level and  degrees of freedom resulted in . Thus  is rejected; it means that team assisted individualization cooperative learning is more effective than direct learning towards students' mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

Until now, in general, mathematics is still a subject with learning outcomes that tend to be unsatisfactory, including data shown by observations of mathematics learning outcomes at Islamic Junior High School (MTs) Wahid Hasyim Yogyakarta. It can be seen from the few students who are active in asking questions when finding difficulties and students who want to go forward to work on the problem. This study aims to determine contextual learning effectiveness through Hands-on Activity and Minds on Activity in improving student learning outcomes. This study's population were all eighth-grade students of MTs Wahid Hasyim Sleman Regency 2015/2016 Academic Year consisting of 3 classes. The class sampling technique is that classes are taken randomly from classes in the population, and each class is homogeneous. The class drew results. It was found that class VIII A was the experimental class and class VIII C was the control. Data collection is done using the test method. The instrument test uses content validity. Data analysis techniques used for analysis prerequisite tests include normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing. After researching with Randomized Posttest-Only Comparison Group Design with a population of VIII class of MTs Wahid Hasyim, the data showed that 1) t-test results obtained tcount = 2.0217> ttable = 2.0190, this means that there are differences in learning outcomes student mathematics between students who learn using contextual learning models with students who learn using conventional learning models. 2) the t-test was obtained tcount = 2.0217> ttable = 1.6826, this shows that Hands-On Activity and Minds On Activity in mathematics learning with contextual approaches are more effective than mathematics learning using conventional learning models of students' mathematics learning outcomes 7th MTs Wahid Hasyim Sleman  Academic Year 2015/2016.

Abstract

Student learning mathematics results relate to many factors. Interest in learning, learning independence, and learning a facility are some of the factors suspected to be related to learning outcomes. This study aims to determine whether there is a positive and significant relationship between parental attention and study time at home with the results of a learning mathematics students of class VIII odd semester  SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Yogyakarta in the academic year 2017/2018. This study's population are all students of class VIII odd semester Junior High School (SMP) Muhammadiyah 6 Yogyakarta in the academic year 2017/2018 consisting of four classes with 106 students. Samples were taken by random sampling technique and obtained class VIII A, consisting of 28 students. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and test techniques. Test of research instrument using validity test, reliability test, and test of different power. Existence prerequisite tests include normality tests, independent tests, and linearity tests.  To analysis the data, the researcher using correlation analysis and linear regression analysis. The results showed that there was a positive and significant correlation between learning parental attention ( ) and learning study time at home ( ) with students' mathematics learning result with ie 4,301> 3.37 with R = 0,506 and R2 = 0,256 with Y = 19,368 + 0,307  + 0,360 , and RC ( ) = 53,539 % and RC ( ) = 46,461%, EC ( ) = 13,305% and EC ( ) = 11,199%.

Abstract

Observation on the students of grade XI MIPA 2 at State Senior High School (SMA Negeri) 3 Bantul showed that students' learning activeness to participate in mathematics lesson was still lacking. Therefore, this study aims to improve learning activeness using a firing line strategy in mathematics lessons on grade XI MIPA 2 at SMA Negeri 3 Bantul in 2017/2018. This research is classroom action research. The action is carried out in three cycles. In this study, subjects were 31 students' of grade XI MIPA 2, 9 men and 22 women. Objects in this study were the learning activities that applied the active strategy of the firing line. Methods of data collection were the method of observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was descriptive qualitative, and quantitative. The results showed that learning using the firing line strategy to improve students' learning activeness in each cycle has improved. The questionnaires of the learning activeness in cycle I was 53.59% (low), it increased in cycle II by 66.89% (high), and in the third cycle was 72,38% (high). The results of student observations were in the first cycle of 69,95%, it increased in the second cycle of 83.29%, and 86.90% for the third cycle. This research's success is also characterized by an average quiz that has reached the MCC (>69). The results of the quiz in cycle II were 78,33 and in the third cycle was 76,67.

Abstract

The ability of students' creative thinking in math is still less than optimal. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the mathematics learning model at State Junior High School (SMP Negeri) 3 Kasihan Bantul by comparing its effectiveness and the learning model used in schools. The population used is the entire class VII at SMP Negeri 3 Kasihan of 122 students. The sampling technique used is the random sampling technique. It selected class VII B as the experimental class and class VII D as the control class. The data collecting technique used is the test method. The data collection instrument in the form of a test. That is the pretest and posttest. The validity test of the instrument used is constructed validity. The instrument reliability test used is alpha Cronbach. The data analysis technique used is a prerequisite test using the normality test with a chi-square formula and homogeneity test using the bartlett formula and the hypothesis test using the t-test. Based on the result of the research, it indicates that: (1) t-test result of two parties obtained tcount > ttable, tcount = 3,837 and ttable = 2,301 or tcount > ttable, tcount = 3,837 and ttable = 2,301 with 5 % of significant level and the freedom degree is 58 which means that Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted, so there is a difference of creative thinking ability of students between the class whose learning is using scramble learning model and the class whose learning is using the scientific approach for class VII students at SMP Negeri 3 Kasihan in the academic year 2017/2018. (2) t-test results of one party obtained tcount > ttable, tcount = 3,837 and ttable = 2,002 with 5% of significant level and the freedom degree is 58 which means that Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted, so the learning mathematics using scramble is more effective than learning mathematics using a scientific approach toward the creative thinking ability for class VII Students in the second Semester at  SMP Negeri 3 Kasihan Bantul in the academic year 2017/2018.’

Abstract

Students must be active and independent in the learning process and understand the material studied in learning mathematics. The mathematical module is one of the alternative learning resources that can be used in the learning process. The research aims to develop a mathematical module of comparative material with a scientific approach for grade VII students of Junior High School (SMP / MTs) applied correctly in mathematics learning. This development research uses Research and Development (R & D) method. Such research subjects include material experts, media experts, students from 2 schools. Data collection techniques used are interviews and questionnaires. The research instruments are questionnaires, which have been reviewed. Types of data used are qualitative and quantitative data. The result of mathematics-module research and development of proportion material with a scientific approach for class VII SMP students. The results of the material feasibility test included the right criteria, with an average score of 67. The media feasibility test module media included in the right criteria with an average score of 67.67. Simultaneously, the small-class product trial stage's student response questionnaire was included in the right criteria, with an average score of 64,7. The student response questionnaire of the big-class product's trial stage includes perfect criteria, with an average score of 70,2. These results indicate that the mathematics module of comparative material with a scientific approach for grade VII students of SMP/MTs is feasible for the learning process.

Abstract

Learning motivation is still low, learning facilities are still inadequate, and peers are still poor. The objectives in this research to understanding there or not the positive relationship and the signification between learning motivation, learning facilities, and peers with the result of the study of mathematics to students class VIII Junior High School (SMP) Muhammadiyah 1 Mlati of Sleman Regency even semester in the academic year 2017/2018. This research population is all of the students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Mlati of Sleman Regency even semester in the academic year 2017/2018, which consists of five classes totaling 162 students. Class VIIIC, as a research sample class, was taken by random sampling technique for the class. Data collection techniques used a questionnaire method to obtain data on learning motivation, learning facilities, peers, and test methods to obtain data on mathematics learning outcomes. Research instrument test: validity test, different power test, and reliability test. Analysis prerequisite tests include normality test, linearity test, and independence test. Data analysis using product moment analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The research results show a positive and significant relationship between learning motivation, learning facilities, and peers with mathematics to students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Mlati of Sleman Regency even semester in 2017/2018. At the significant level 5%, 4,1174 and 2,99,  with multiple correlation coefficients  0,5751 and determinant of coefficient double 0,3307 with multiple regression equations are three variables . Data collection techniques using the questionnaire method to obtain learning motivation data and learning facilities and test methods to obtain data on mathematics learning outcomes. Research instrument test: validity test, different power test, and reliability test. Analysis prerequisite tests include normality test, linearity test, and independence test. Data analysis using product moment analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between learning motivation and learning facilities with mathematics learning results in class X Ceramic Craft B of SMK N 5 Yogyakarta Even Semester 2017/2018 Academic Year. Abstract

Low students' learning outcomes are related to many factors. Learning activities, peer environment, and interest in learning are among them. This study aims to determine whether there are positive and significant relations between learning activity, peer environment. Interest in learning and mathematics learning outcomes of grade X Office Administration students of Vocational High School (SMK) Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta in the odd semester of the academic year of 2017/2018. This study's population were regular grade X Office Administration students of SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta in 2017/2018, consisting of two classes with 58 students. A random sampling technique was applied to take this research sample, a grade X Office Administration student's class 2. The data on learning activity, peer environment, and interest to learn were obtained through questionnaires. At the same time, the data of the mathematics learning outcomes were obtained through the test. The research instruments were tested using a validity test, differential test, and reliability test. Analysis prerequisite tests include normality, linearity, and independence test. Product moment and multiple linear regression analysis were used to analyze the data. The results show that there are not positive and significant relations between learning activity, peer environment. Interest to learn with mathematics learning outcomes of grade X Office Administration students of SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta in the odd semester of the academic year of 2017/2018. The results are evident in Fount  Ftable which is 0,209 > 3,100 with R = 0,177 and R2 = 0,031 with , with SR = , RC =  and RC = -1,734 , EC = , EC =  and EC = .
