Abstract

The Influence of Garlic (Allium sativum L.) Extract and Liquid Vermicompost Fertilizer to the Attack of Insect on Kailan (Brassica oleracea var. Alboglabra) Plantation. Kailan plant (Brassica oleracea var. Alboglabra) known as Chinese broccoli is one of the vegetable cabbage (Brassicaceae) family. One of the factors is that reduce quantity and quality of kailan plants are a high of pest attacks. The aim of study is to determine the effect of garlic extract and liquid vermicompost fertilizer on the type and abundance of pest populations, index of diversity, intensity of damage and determine the most effective concentration of garlic (Allium sativum L.) and liquid vermicompost fertilizer. The research design as Randomized Block Design, with two treatment factors: garlic extract and liquid vermicompost fertilizer and level of concentration. Garlic extract was used as treatments, i.e 0g/l; 150g/l; and 300g/l. Liquid vermicompost fertilizer was used as treatments, i.e 0ml/plant; 10ml/plant; 20ml/plant; and 40ml/plant. Each treatment combination consists of 3 repetition so that there are 36 treatment of combination. The results showed that the dominant pests present in kailan plants are Atractomorpha crenulata and Plutella xylostella. The index of diversity in each treatment has a value of H<1 (Low). The treatments showed that as a single treatment has a significant effect. The treatments of 300g/l garlic extract and 40 ml/plant liquid vermicompodt fertilizer was the best concentration which gave on reduce the number of pest populations and intensity of damage also increased plant height and plant fresh weight, but there is no significant effect of interaction between both treatments.

Abstract

Phytochemical Content Identification and Antioxidant Activity Test of Arabica Coffee Leaves (Coffea arabica) in the Catur Village and Robusta Coffee Leaves (Coffea canephora) in the Petang Village. Coffee is considered one of valuable crops commodity, and its cultivation generates waste in the form of coffee leaves. Indeed, it is necessary to make use of this waste for the better Environment, in this case, researchers took the sample of arabica leaves in Catur village and the sample of robusta leaves in Petang village. Researchers conducted a study to identify compounds and determine the antioxidant activity of arabica coffee leaves (Coffea arabica) and robusta coffee leaves (Coffea canephora). The researchers employed GC-MS and for phytochemical analysis and the DPPH method to evaluate antioxidant activity. The results revealed that the viscous extract of both arabica and robusta coffee leaves contained Caffeine as the most prominent compound. Caffeine is known for its stimulating effect on the central nervous system and anti-inflammatory. In the viscous extract of arabica coffee leaves contained 48 substances and the viscous extract of robusta coffee leaves contained 9 substances were identified with a qual >90. The IC50 value for the viscous extract of arabica coffee leaves was measured at 91,837 ppm, indicating a strong-class antioxidant activity. In contrast, the IC50 value for the viscous extract of robusta coffee leaves was 120,972 ppm, representing a medium-class antioxidant activity.

Abstract

The effect of the Initial Temperature of the Water and the soaking time on Viability and Vigority of Marigold Flower Seeds (Tagetes erecta L.). Marigold is a floral ornamental plant, which is potentially marketed in Indonesia especially in Bali. Marigold is multiplied through seeds, so the quality of seeds is highly observed. An uneven flare and a low flare power can affect the growth of marigold. This research aims to find out the initial temperature, the soaking time and interaction influences the viability and vigor of the flower seed. The research began in August-October 2023, which is located at the Laboratory of Plant ?reeding and Seed Technology, Agroecology Studies Program, Faculty of Agriculture University of Udayana. This research used a Completely Randomized Factorial Design, namely the initial temperature treatment consisted of 3 levels (30?, 40?, 50?), and the soaking time consisted of 4 levels (30, 60, 90 and 120) minutes. The results of the study showed a significant interaction influencing the viability and vigor of marigold seeds, where the initial temperature of 40°C with 30 minutes of immersion is the best interaction, with germination percentage (86%), maximum potential growth rate (92%), simultaneous growth (75.33%), the percentage growth rate (11.61%/etmal) and seed vigor indeks (5199,47).

Abstract

Monitoring The Conversion of Rice Fields and Mapping The Status of Farmers in Subak Kerdung and Subak Cuculan, Denpasar City. Subak Kerdung and Subak Cuculan are subaks that are included in the Green Open Space area of ??Denpasar City. The designation of this two subak as an open space areas for Denpasar City does not reduce the land conversion level. Therefore, it is necessary to have more protection by determining the area for Sustainable Food Agricultural Land (SFAL). Based on Government Regulation No. 25 of 2012, the preparation of SFAL needs to be equipped with a database, some of which are data on human resources and farmer status. This study aims to create a map of land-use change (2012-2021), a map of the distribution pattern of farmer status, and a human resources database. This study uses image analysis methods as well as surveys and mapping. The research stages include literature study, interpretation of satellite imagery, field surveys, image reinterpretation, and mapping and preparation of information systems. The results showed that for nine years, there was a conversion of 66.61 ha in Subak Kerdung and 22.62 ha in Subak Cuculan. The number of farmers in Subak Kerdung is 133 people, 121 people are sharecroppers with a total land area of ??93.2 (91.75%), and 18 people are owner farmers with a total land area of ??8.47 ha (8.25%). The number of farmers in Subak Cuculan was 24 people; 22 were sharecroppers with a total land area of ??7.43 ha (84.24%). Owner farmers opened two people with a total arable area of ??1.39 ha (15.76%). Farmers in Subak Kerdung and Subak Cuculan dominate the productive age (31-60 years). The average size of land cultivated by farmers in Subak Kerdung is 0.76 ha/person, and in Subak Cuculan is 0.36 ha/person. The results of this study are expected to be used by the Denpasar city government as a basis for evaluating and enforcing the law and as a reference for determining SFAL in Subak Kerdung and Subak Cuculan.

Abstract

Effect of Packaging on Quality of Sunflower Seeds (Helianthus annuus L.) at Three Months Storage. This study aim to determine the effect of packaging on quality of sunflower seeds. This study used a completely randomized design with 6 treatments, namely sealed plastic bag (Kp), gunny sack (Kg), aluminium foil pouch (Ka), glass jar (Tk), plastic jar (Tp) and plastic sack (Kb) with 4 repetitions. The research was conducted at the Plant Breeding and Seed Technology Laboratory, Agronomy and Horticulture Laboratory and Soil Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University from September 2022-April 2023. The results showed that the storage techniques for 3 months storage had an effect and aluminium foil pouch (Ka) was able to maintain the quality of sunflower seeds well compared to other storage packaging used in this research as indicated by the value of water content (7,38%), 100 seeds weight (6,88 g), electric conductivity (2,29 mmhos/cm), maximum growth potential (92,50%), germination (85%), simultaneous growth (80,83%) and vigor storability (81,67%).
