Abstract

Overcoming the Failure of Fruit-set by Removing Former Flower Stem and Shoot on Salak Gula Pasir Fruit (Salacca zalacca var. Gula Pasir). This research aimed to overcome the failure of fruit-set by removing former flower bunch and shoot on salak gula pasir (Salacca zalacca var. Gula Pasir). This research was a factorial experiment, designed using randomized completely block design with 2 factors. The first factor was removal of former flower bunch, consisted of 2 levels (removed and not removed), and the second factor was removal of shoot, consisted of 2 levels (removed and not removed). Thereby, there were 4 treatments combination and replicated 7 times so that 28 plants was required. The result of the research showed that the greatest percentage of fruit-set (80,15%) was obtained on the shoot removal treatment, whereas the fruit-set of the treatment on which shoot was not removed was 60,34%. On the removal of former flower bunch treatment, there was no significant difference on removal and not removal treatment between the percentages of fruit-set.

Abstract

Implementation of Integrated Crop Management to Maize Hybrids (Zea mays L.)Hybridof maizes have a higher yield potential than the composite (open pollinated), because the hybrid has the dominant genes that capable to gain high yields. Integrated Crop Management(ICM) is an approach that promotes the cultivation of crop management, land, water, and plant pests in a synergistic and specific. Assessment carried out in paddy fields belonging to farmers, Farmers Group members Jatikersa, Cicurug Village, Majalengka Sub District,Majalengka District the Month June - August (Dry Season II) 2013. Activity assessment test varieties with 2 treatments: (1) hybrid maize varieties P-21 (private) and (2) hybrid maizevarieties Bima-14 (Balitsereal). Each activity was repeated at 16 wetland plots owned by farmers on the same land each 120m2. The data were analyzed using t-test, then made the relationship between the results of the yield components (number of cobs per plant, length of the cob, diameter cob, number of lines per cob, 100 grain weight) andusing analyzed correlation. The purpose of this study to determine variability and agronomic productivity of hybrid maize varieties using corn ICM approach. The resultapproach to the application of Integrated Crop Managementhybrid maize varieties P-21 can be adapted in paddy fields in Majalengka District and diameter of cob is the result of the most influential component of the yield of maize hybrids.

Abstract

Optimalization protoplast isolation of the leaves mesophyll orchid Paraphalaenopsis layockii. The obyectives of the research was to investigate the effect of combination treatment of sucrose concentrations and incubation time on protoplast isolation of the leaves mesophyll orchid of Paraphalaenopsis layockii. The factorial experiment consisted of two factors that was arranged by completely randomized design (CRD) with ten replications. The first factor was concentrations of sucrose which consists of three levels namely 0.4 M, 0.5 M and 0.6 M. The second factor was incubation time which consists of four levels namely 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours and 8 hours. Data were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis test followed by Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that there was effect of treatment for all variables observed. The highest protoplast density and number of viable protoplasts achieved in the combined treatment of 0.6 M sucrose and 4 hours of incubation time.

Abstract

The potential of Endophytic Bacteria from Shoot of healthy Vanilla for Biological Control Agenst of Fuxarium oxusporum f. sp. vanilla. The aim of the research was to determine in-vitro inhibitory of endophytic bacteria from healthy stem of vanilla against stem rot dideases caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. vanillae The research was conducted in Phythopatology Laboratory and green house Fakulty of Agiculure from January to August 2014. The results showed that 50 isolates of endophytic bacteria can be isolated from Tabanan and Badung regency. Antagonistic test results from 50 isolate of endophytic bacteria found the six isolates of endophytic bacteria has potential as antagonists against Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. vanillae namely Endophytic Tabanan 1 (T1), T7, T13, Endophytic Badung 28(B28), B30 and B41. In-vitro test showed endophytic bacteria isolate T1 has the highestinhibition to the F. oxysporum f.sp. vanillae growth by 87%. Results of the research in Greenhouse, endophytic bacteria isolate T1 can stimulate the growth of shoots and capable of protecting plants from vanilla stem rot diseases with the lowest attack percentage of 32%.
