Abstract

This study examines the integration of general knowledge and religious teachings in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), focusing on the epistemological perspectives of teachers. The research, conducted at Pondok Pesantren Darul Quran Insan Cendekia in Sukabumi, uses a phenomenological approach to explore the personal experiences of teachers in blending scientific and religious knowledge. The findings emphasize the crucial role of teachers' epistemology in achieving a harmonious balance between intellect and spirituality. Teachers play a vital role in aligning Islamic values with scientific knowledge, facilitating a comprehensive educational experience that prepares students for both academic and spiritual challenges. Despite progress, challenges remain, such as limited expertise in general sciences and teaching skills, which highlight the need for ongoing teacher training and professional development. Integrating religious teachings with modern educational tools, like technology, is also crucial to improve teaching effectiveness. The study highlights how strong epistemological understanding enables the integration of divine revelation (naqli) and human reasoning (aqli), creating a cohesive and holistic learning system. The research contributes to the broader conversation on integrative education, providing insights on how to practically implement such models and overcome obstacles. It advocates for a modern pesantren model that fosters intellectual skills and moral values, preparing students to succeed in a globalized world while maintaining their Islamic identity.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to explore internal quality assurance of education through work competency-based Total Quality Management (TQM). The background to this research is driven by the need to improve the quality of education so that graduates can meet the demands of an increasingly competitive industry and labor market. This research uses qualitative data collection through in-depth interviews and observations at SMK Darussalam Banyuwangi. Data sources in this research include primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through in-depth interviews with school principals, teachers, education staff and students, as well as direct observation of the process of implementing Total Quality Management (TQM) in educational institutions. Secondary data includes official documents such as work competency-based curricula, education quality reports, and government policies regarding the implementation of TQM. The data analysis technique used is a qualitative approach with the Miles and Huberman interactive model. To ensure the validity of the data, this research uses triangulation techniques. Triangulation is carried out through comparison of data from various sources, such as interviews, observations and documentation. This research identified three main findings: first, work competency as a basis for quality assurance, which shows the importance of a competency-based curriculum in preparing students for the world of work; second, an integrated managerial system that integrates all aspects of educational management to ensure an effective learning process; and third, collaboration and stakeholder participation involving all related parties in quality improvement efforts. The research results show that the application of work competency-based TQM not only improves the quality of education but also the relevance of graduates to industry needs..

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Principal Leadership, School Environment, and Teacher Satisfaction on Teacher Commitment in State Vocational High Schools (SMKs) in Aceh Tenggara Regency. The research employs a quantitative approach with a survey method, involving 152 teachers from 6 State SMKs as the sample, selected using a cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected through a questionnaire based on a 5-point Likert scale and analyzed using multiple linear regression and classical assumption tests. The results indicate that all independent variables (Principal Leadership, School Environment, and Teacher Satisfaction) significantly influence Teacher Commitment. Collectively, these three variables explain 44.4% of the variation in Teacher Commitment. The ANOVA test confirms that the regression model used is significant at a 99% confidence level (p < 0.01). The study concludes that enhancing teacher commitment requires attention to effective leadership, creating a conducive school environment, and improving teacher job satisfaction. These findings hold important implications for policymaking in the education sector, particularly in improving the quality of teaching in underdeveloped areas like Aceh Tenggara.

Abstract

Education is a key factor in improving human resources (HR) quality to face global challenges. In the context of Islamic education, madrasahs play a strategic role in shaping students with strong character and competencies. Teacher competency, particularly personality competence, is crucial in ensuring effective learning. This study aims to analyze the management of the Madrasah Education Section of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Palangka Raya City in strengthening the personality competence of madrasah teachers. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the Madrasah Education Section applies management based on POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, and Controlling) through various programs, such as training in collaboration with the Banjarmasin Training Institute, In-House Training (IHT), and the utilization of the PINTAR application for online learning. However, several challenges persist in program implementation, including limited resources, unequal access to technology, and varying levels of teacher comprehension. Therefore, more effective strategies are needed to optimize and sustain the enhancement of teachers' personality competencies, ultimately contributing to the quality of education in madrasahs.

Abstract

Implementation of the Independent Curriculum in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. MI Al-Huda, a madrasah, has implemented the independent curriculum in stages. This curriculum begins with training, technical guidance, or workshops for teachers so that they have sufficient understanding of the independent curriculum. Teachers at MI Al-Huda are also given the opportunity to be creative and adapt the curriculum to the conditions at school. The obstacles faced in implementing the independent curriculum are requiring teachers to learn differentially and limited facilities and infrastructure. MI Al-Huda hopes to improve Pancasila values through the development of the Pancasila profile. For example, the election of class leaders is carried out with the principles of devotion to Allah and democracy. Thus, MI Al-Huda strives to implement the independent curriculum effectively and in accordance with the conditions at school, as well as improve the quality of education through the creativity of teachers and the assistance of the development team.

Abstract

The rapid development of the era has a serious impact on the character of the younger generation, such as weak discipline, low motivation for worship, and lack of social responsibility. Islamic boarding schools are present as an alternative solution that emphasizes comprehensive character development. This study aims to examine the implementation of character education strategies based on Islamic values in class VII MTs students at the Hidayatullah Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that character education in this Islamic boarding school is implemented systematically through seven main strategies: role models and leadership, purification of the soul (tazkiyah), teaching (ta‘lim), habituation (ta‘wid), monitoring (mutaba‘ah), motivation and threats (targhib wa tarhib), and reward and punishment (tatswib wa mu‘aqabah). These seven strategies are integrated into five aspects of education (wujūh at-tarbiyah) which include aspects of ruhiyyah, tsaqafiyyah, jasadiyyah, qiyadiyyah, and ijtima‘iyyah. The implementation of these strategies has succeeded in gradually forming the character of students, although there were challenges of adaptation in the early stages. This study recommends strengthening the capacity of murabbi, balancing the motivation and sanction systems, and further research to develop a more holistic model of Islamic character education
