Abstract

Abstract. The low performance of students in the use of laboratory equipment is often caused by the orientation of teachers who are more focused on achieving the target curriculum and lack of attention to science process skills. The objectives of this study was to describe student activities, students performance, mastery learning outcomes and the response in the 7th grade class of MTsN 1 Candi Laras Utara with a model of Direct Instruction assisted Multimedia for measurement learning. The Class action research conducts in 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing, evaluating and reflecting.. The data collected in the form of student activity, students performance , mastery learning outcomes and students' responses, through tests and observation. Results indicated that mastery learning outcomes of students has increased from cycle I to II, which is 75% and 94%. The quality of student performance also increased from 90% to 94%. At the end of second cycle students in implementing the questionnaire responses showed that students rerpon of teaching is good. Keywords: Direct Instruction, Multimedia, Learning Science, Measurement

Abstract

Abstract: The teaching of the educational levels including at junior high school level is teacher-center learning, monotonous, rigid, and less interactive. Students are conditioned to be passive recipients, the impact students are less active, less passionate, loss of concentration, quickly bored, are not independent, even doing negative things. Problems are solved through the implementation of Strategy Quick on the Draw in Cooperative Learning. The purpose of the research is to improve students achievement in learning science especially on flat form material, students learning activities, and students response. The class action research conducts in 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing, evaluating and reflecting. The subjects are 27 students in the 9th grade class of SMPN 18 Banjarmasin. The result shows that (1) the teacher implemented lesson plan increases from 96.44% with good category in the first cycle to 100% with either category, (2) student learning activities in cycle 1 for positive activities 81 , 48% - 100%, which is not relevant to the behavior of 9.26% and in cycle 2 for positive activities 96.30 - 100%, which is not relevant to the behavior of 0%, (3) students understanding increases from 71.48 in the first cycle to 77.22 in the second cycle. As many as 92.59% students achieved ≥ 65% cognitive level (4) students response to positive learning activities.Key Words: Quick on The Draw, Cooperative Learning, Learning Outcome

Abstract

Abstract: It has been conducted a study about application of model Creative Problem Solving (CPS) in learning topics of Solubility and Solubility Product. The aims of research to know difference learning outcome between CPS-Flash, CPS, and conventional learning. This quasi-experimental study involved students in the 11th grade class of SMAN 4 Banjarmasin. Sample was taken from all population (total sampling). Test instruments were used for measuring students learning outcome. Questionnaire were used for measuring students affective aspect and the students’ respons. Students activity measured by observer. By using one way Anava and LSD analysis, this study shows that there is significant difference of learning outcome between CPS-Flash/CPS and conventional learning and no difference between CPS-Flash and CPS. The result observation student’s learning process used model CPS get positive respons from students who showing a good affective and activity.Key words: CPS, Solubility and Solubility Product, learning outcome, learning process

Abstract

Abstract: Problem based learning (PBL) is a pedagogical approach which involve and use the scenarios or complex situations to assist students in problem solving, commensurate or consistent with the character of collaborative learning. During the collaboratve study project, students work in a small group to write a scientific work, constructing a model, or generate awide range of products- all of them rrequire a problem solving skills. Teachers with all the facilities and means role as learning facilitator. PBL as a pedagogical approach is essentially characterized by (1) learning is based on the need to solve problems (2) the study take place independently and collaborativly with facilitators,(3) solutions of the problems based on the inquiry or investigation activity, (4) learn to develop creativity and self-assessment and (5) there is a direct product or the students real work shortly after the pedagogy. The learning outcome of PBL approach includes cognitive, affective, and psychomotor, but more emphasis on self-development in the learning process.Key words: problem based learning, collaborative learning, assessment and self evaluation

Abstract

Abstract: Cancer was one of health problems in the world. Medical treatments of cancer by operation, chemotherapy, and radiation were really good, but they have some effects. Now, people were interested in using of natural product as medicine. Red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lamk.) have been extensively used to treat HIV/AIDS, diabetic mellitus, uric acid, osteoporosis and cancer. The scientific studies of anti cancer activity of red fruits on the growth of cancer are relatively very few. The objective of this research was to determine the variety of Red Fruit that have the high toxicity and to identify the bioactive compound that have a cytotoxic effect on breast cancer cell line (T47D). Three samples (Maler, Barugum, and Yanggiru) were collected from Sentani (Papua). The cell line used were T47D for breast cancer and cancer drug Doxorubicine was used as a standard on cytotoxicity assay. All samples were extracted using three solvents (chloroform, methanol, and water). Anti cancer activity on breast cancer cell line of those extracts were detected using MTT Assay to determine IC-50. The best extract (lowest IC-50) was fractionated, isolated, and identified its compound group. The value of extract IC-50 and toxic isolate were calculated by probit analysis. The results showed that methanol extract of Barugum has the highest cytotoxic effect to cell line T47D (IC-50 = 170,204 μg/ml) followed by chloroform extract of Maler (IC-50 = 193,090 μg/ml). But, the isolate of fraction of Maler chloroform extract had the highest cytotoxic effect (IC-50 = 32,453 μg/ml), that is lower than Doxorubicine (49,194 μg/ml) while the isolate of methanol extract of Barugum had IC-50 = 60,298 μg/ml. The bioactive compound group that has anti-cancer activity were terpenoid saponin and other terpenoids. It could be concluded that the chloroform extract of Maler was potential to be developed as cancer medicine.Key Words: Red Fruit, cancer, T47D, cytotoxic, MTT Assay.
