Abstract

Regular Objective Structured Clinical Examination  (OSCE) was a clinical skill  test in the Faculty of Medicine Islamic University Al-Azhar Mataram.  Examiner of OSCE in this study was a doctor who was also a lecturer trained in judging student’s clinical skills. The study aimed to know whetherergonomic-oriented regular OSCE by muscle stretching and drinking sweetened tea can improve the performance of examiners in the Faculty of Medicine Islamic University Al-Azhar Mataram. Performance improvement indicators used were decreased complaints of boredom, fatigue and musculoskeletal. Methods used in this study was experimental study with “treatment by subject design”. The study used as many as 18 sample given two treatment which was the first period without the ergonomic intervention involving stretching of the muscle and drinking sweetened tea and the second period was a group with ergonomic intervention. Boredom was measured by a boredom questionnaire.Fatigue, was measured from 30 items of fatigue questionnaire from Japan IFRC(Industrial Fatigue Research Committee).   Skeletal   muscle   complaints was predicted from  Nordic Body  Map  questionnaire.  Data  were  analyzed  bynormality test and t-paired test with significancy level of 5%.The results of this study showed that there was a significant difference(p<0,05) in average score boredom, fatigue and musculoskeletal complaints. The mean boredom score in the first period was 39,724 and in the second period was26,415 with reduction in average boredom score was 33.5 %. Fatigue mean scorein the first period  was 44,050 and the second period was 23,525 with reductionof fatigue score was  46,59 %. Abstract

Tourism has become one of the engines of socio-economic progress for many countries. The number of  users  star hotel facilities  makes  the hotel more  extra  employees  in negotiating the arrangement of the hotel especially the housekeeping employees who workwith emphasis on physical strength as the center of activities that affect the fatigue and employability.  This study analyzed  the correlation between  fatigue  and work ability. Research  conducted  observational  (non-experimental) with a  cross-sectional  analytic 59approach. The number of respondents consisted of 31 respondents consisting of employees of the housekeeping three stars hotel in Denpasar, to fill in the questionnaire Work AbilityIndex and the 30 item questionnaire rating scale of the Japan Association of IndustrialHealth and Industrial Fatigue Research Committee of Japan. From the research, there is40.81 ± 9.35 mean of fatigue. While, the average of work ability is 41.25 ± 4.15. There is asignificant relationship between the fatigue and the work ability with the value of (p =0.011) and values of (r = -0,450). The p-value indicates there is a significant relationshipbetween fatigue and work ability, the value of r indicates the direction opposite relationshipbetween fatigue and work ability. It can be concluded that there is a relationship betweenfatigue with the work ability of employees at the hotel housekeeping. For the hotel need to know the fatigue scores of each individual to improve the employees work especially those working in the field of physical and mental.

Abstract

Practice of turning is done in a standing posture. During the process of turning benches are not provided for sitting. In turning Practice sometimes also requires bending forward working posture to look more carefully or repair existing equipment. Besides, the lack of site lighting on the lathe machine can reduce accuracy level of students in reading measurement scale. This leads to disorder on musculoskeletal system and eye strain; therefore it is necessary to apply ergonomics in terms of improvement in working posture and the addition of site lighting. The research was carried out experimentally using treatment by subject design; the study sample included 15 people. Subjects obtained the two treatments, period I the turning used the old way. Period II used a new way of ergonomic interventions in the form of improvement in working posture and the addition of site lighting. The analysis showed that there was significant difference (p <0.05) on the musculoskeletal disorder, the period I with a mean score of 81.41 +1.80 and atperiod II with a mean score of 65.74 +3.08 or decreased by 19.3 %. There was significant difference in eye strain period I with a score of 31.41 +1.78 and period II with a score of 16.89 +2.32 or decreased by 46.2% and there was significant difference in the accuracy of the work, period I with a bias score of 1.29 +0.45 cm and period II with a bias score of 0.56 +0.15 cm or increased accuracy of 56.9%.It is concluded that (a) the improvement of working posture and addition of site lighting in turning process can reduce musculoskeletal disorder of students in mechanical workshop of Bali State Polytechnics, (b) the improvement of working posture and addition of site lighting turning process can reduce eye strain of students in mechanical workshop of Bali State Polytechnic, (c) the improvement of working posture and addition of site lighting in turning process can improve the accuracy of the work of students in Bali State Polytechnic mechanical workshop.

Abstract

Optimum performance is achieved when teacher has been engaged with his or her work. Teacher will not feel forced to run his or her job demand and even tend to give more than his or her job demand. These are ideal condition that must be maintained in teacher profession. Efforts to do so teacher engaged with his or her work is to provide an acknowledgment and appreciation.  It can be seen from one of the government's regulations implementing teacher certification.  Observational studies have been conducted with a cross-sectional analytical approach to the teacher at SMP Negeri inNorth District of Denpasar with a sample of 147 peoples. Data were analyzed with the Mann-Whitney test with a significance level of 0.05. Research data obtained an average scores of work engagement on the certified teachers is 86.23 + 8,31 while the average scores of work engagement on uncertified teachers is 79.25 + 11,93. Comparability of test results p = 0.003, showing that the average scores of work engagement among certified teachers and uncertified teachers significantly different (p <0.05). It can be said certification is one of the variables that affect the work engagement on teacher. It was concluded that there are differences in the average scores of work engagement oncertified teacher with uncertified teacher, where work engagement scores on certified teacher is higher than uncertified teacher. It is recommended for government to certify all teachers in Indonesia.

Abstract

Employee's performance can be determined from physiological responses, alertness, work abilityand work engagement. The performance can be achieved when employees are able to adjust the capacity to the existing task demands, once is in accounting department. This department requires the ability to adjust the capacity of employees physiologically and psychologically with the tasks demands, one of the tasks was maintaining financial balance by using a computer. Employees work comfortably, safely, healthy thus increasing productivity. The working conditions need to be improved to prevent fatigue, complaints, discomfort, injury, stress, until disorder/disease that affects the company performance. It is to apply ergonomics interventions with emphasis on the psychological approach or Ergo-Psychophysiology.Experimental studies have been carried out with treatment by subject design to the 17 employees at accounting department of Bali Hyatt Hotel, Denpasar. Sample performance observed when working in conventional condition (first period) and when working with treated Ergo-Psychophysiology (second period). Employee performance data between the two periods compared and analyzed by t-paired test at the significance level of 0.05.The data results showed that a decreased in the physiological response based on the decrease of fatigue was 22.18 % and musculoskeletal complaints was 9.08 %. The alertness of employee increased based on increase of pace of work was 12.73 %, an increase of accuracy was 9.52 % and increased of constancy was 21.62 %. An increased of work ability was 7.57% and an increased of work engagement was 16.73 % (p<0.05). There was no significance result for workload based on the working pulse (p>0.05). The results showed that the Ergo- Psychophysiological influenced employee performance based on physiological responses, alertness, work ability and work engagement, although the workload is not affected. This suggests that task demand of employment in the accounting department is more mental abilities than physical activity. It was concluded that the Ergo-Psychophysiology decrease the physiological response based on the decrease in fatigue and musculoskeletal complaints. Ergo-Psychophysiology also increases alertness, work ability and work engagement. It is suggested to support on mental working condition in the accounting department.
