Abstract

Problems ergonomics in industrial screen printing traditional fabrics such as work attitude unnatural causing musculoskeletal disorders in workers printing. To overcome these problems, especially for fabric printing activity done by redesigning Rakel research and giving active stretching. The purpose of this study was to know the effects of the using redesigning Rakel and active stretching for the fabric screen printing workers to decrease the workload, musculoskeletal disorders and increased work productivity. The study design is the design of the same subject, involving 12 workers printing male, 20-45 years old, between 1-5 years of work experience. Research into two phases. The first phase (I) subjects treated with Rakel without redesigning work and without giving active stretching. The second phase (II) subjects treated with redesigning work Rakel and giving active stretching. Among the two phases of the study, given a wash out period for 2 days and adaptation redesigning Rakel for 4 days, to eliminate carry-over effects. The workload is measured by the method of pulse 10 beats, musculoskeletal complaints measured by a questionnaire Nordic Body Map at 4 Likert scale and work productivity based on the ratio between output and input. Data were analyzed with the Shapiro-Wilk test to determine the normality of the data, paired t-test to test the significance difference variable workload and productivity of work at the significance level ? = 0.05 and Wilcoxon test for variables musculoskeletal complaints. The results showed that redesigning Rakel and provision of active stretching can reduce the workload of 30,3% (p<0.05) and lower musculoskeletal complaints by 16,9% (p<0.05) as well as increasing work productivity by 45,5% (p <0.05). It concluded that the redesign Rakel and provision of active stretching can reduce the workload and musculoskeletal disorders and increase productivity for workers printing. Suggested to the owner of a similar business industry to make good working conditions referring to ergonomic principles, so as to create safer working conditions, comfortable, healthy and productive workers.

Abstract

Breastfeeding is a very important activity for both mother and baby. In the breastfeeding state the relationship between mother and baby will be tight and close. The old method and also duration of breastfeeding can cause fatigue, shoulder muscle tension, and soreness / stiffness in breastfeeding mothers. Problems due to absence of the use of pillow when mother breastfeed and mothers only depending on her limb to sustain baby when breastfeeding. In this case we need an ergonomic pillow to help mother feeding her baby. The purpose of this research is to investigate the use of redesigning nursing pillow can reduce fatigue, musculoskeletal complaints in breastfeeding mothers, to determine the use redesigning nursing pillow increase the motivation of mothers to breastfeed the baby as well as increase the satisfaction of nursing infants. This research held in as an experimental research draft of pre and post control group design. Samples that were included in this study was 22 people divided into two groups. The control group will breastfeeding using older model nursing pillow, while the another group will use the new redesign nursing pillow. Data analysis using t-test paried significance level of 5%.The result showed mother’s motivation after breastfeeding in both groups increased, the control group (18.27 ± 2.370) and the treatment group (15.45 ± 1.809). Baby satisfaction in the control group (11.09 ± 0.943), while the treatment group (12.27 ± 0.904). Exhausted mother’s in the control group (39.64 ± 2.803), while the treatment group (32.64 ± 1.504).Musculoskeletal disorders that mother’s felt in the control group (37.54 ± 1.694), while the treatment group (30.81 ± 2.136).Based on the study can be concluded that redesign breastfeeding pillow can giving impact to increase motivation and baby satisfaction and also decrease fatigue and musculoskeletal complain/disorder that mothers can feel. So hopefully by using this nursing pillow design maximizes mothers to breastfeed

Abstract

Bedugul is a village in Tabanan regency that produce strawberry. Bedugul is famous tourist area not only in Bali or Indonesia, are even known in the world. . In the process of planting strawberries, farmers cultivate land by making raised beds (bedeng) beforehand, add fertilizer, coat beds with mulch, and make a hole in the plastic mulch. there are problems in the processing of these strawberry fields, such as the musculoskeletal disorder and general fatigue. This research was conducted observational against 12 strawberry farmers in Bedugul Tabanan regency. The workload is predicted by calculated the pulse that measured by ten pulse methode in artery radialis use a stopwatch. Ambient temperature and humidity are measured with a sling psychrometer.  Wind speed is measured using the anemometer. Temperature heat of solar radiation measured with a thermometer bulb. General fatigue predicted by 30 item questioners about fatigue with 4 Likert scale. Musculoskeletal disorders predicted by Nordic Body Map. ECPT (extra calorie due to peripheral temperature) and ECPM (extra calorie due to peripheral metabolism) is calculated based on the pulse restore of the farmers. The results of this research concluded that: (1) Workload strawberry farmers categories of heavy workload, (2) There are significant differences in the score of subjective disorder of farmers (musculoskeletal disorder and general fatigue) before and after work, (3) The value of ECPM higher than ECPT so that to improve the activity of the farmers can be done through the task of strawberry farmers (4) score RULA analysis values obtained grand score of 7, that is mean investigation and change are required immediately. It is therefore recommended to immediate improvement in the work of the strawberry farmers

Abstract

As a human tools, computer is used in various sectors of human life, for examples: writing documents, playing  multimedia  and so on.  Making document withBalinese charactersusing a computer has many obstacles such as letters, points, and sign in Balinese charactershave different forms with letters, points, and sign in alphabetic. Another difficulty is the keyboard that is commonly used is not specific to type Balinese script. This research was aimed to determine the correlation between a decrease of  hand muscles load activity typing Balinese scripts with QWERTY keyboard on the increase in learning outcomes. This research was done by using descriptive correlation. Samplesof this research were 23 students who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selectedrandomly. The correlation test results showed that there is a strong correlation between a decrease hand muscle load with the learning outcomes of r xy = -0.963 and p = 0.001. This shows that there is a significant correlation between a decrease hand muscle load with increase learning outcomes with p <0.05. There is a strong correlation and significant between a decrease hand muscle load with increase learning outcomes on Balinese typing activity usingQWERTYkeyboard

Abstract

The production process of making gamelan in the village Tihingan, Klungkung, Bali, still using the traditional fireplace with open flames both to the melting process as well as on the process of formation so that crafters fairly heavy workload caused by exposure to radiation heat and dust. This research was conducted observational against 5 people workers (craftsman) gamelan nguwad process. The workload is measured by pulse craftsman work. Microclimate in the workplace were measured wet temperature, dry temperature, humidity, intensity of noise, and light intensity. Musculoskeletal disorderpredicted by questioner of Nordic Body Map and general fatigue  predicted  by  the questioner 30 items exhaustion with four Likert scale. The results of the research to get the pulse of gamelan craftsmen working on a furnace repairman 116.25 ± 3.78, the flop workers 115.42 ± 2.47, and 3.29 ± 126.47 of nguwad workers. The cardio vasculer load obtained 50.13 ± 3.42% so the recommended 75% work and 25% rest. Gamelan making production process also cause a variety of subjective disorders. It was concluded that (a) the level of workload on a craftsman gamelan is the artisan perapen and artisan-flops belonging to the workload being, the artisan nguwad workload is quite heavy, (b) based on the value of CVL, workload craftsman gamelan in Bali including the workload being, ( c) a significant increase in musculoskeletal disorder and general fatigue. To overcome this condition it is recommended that the working process of making gamelan remedied through the implementing appropriate technology and ergonomics intervention.

Abstract

Buildings development is very glowing recently.  This also has effect on manpower who works at this sector.  Manpower is demanded to have skill according to his field.  Worker at finishing field or especially for ceiling painter needs skill and technique that he should master.  While working the worker always assists by tools and paint materials.  Tools that are used by the ceiling painter have not been refered to antropometry aspect, so it can cause inconvenient in performing the job.  Working with toold that are not accorded to ergonomic principle and working posture that is not physiological can cause fatigue, muscle disturbance, musculoskeletal and increasing working load.  That is why it needs to modify painting roller holder stick.  In that case the worker can work in comfort, safe, healthy, efficient and productive so it can increase productivity. This research was perfomed at office house at Denpasar City.  Type of this research is experimental research by using treatment by subject design by involving 16 samples.  Interval between before treatment and after treatment is given washing out for two days.  Data measured are the working load measured by the increasing of subjective complaint recorded by Nordic Body Map questionnaire, pulses, fatigue and working productivity.  Data of subjective complaint was analyzed by non-parametric statistic test using the Wilcoxon test with significance rate of ? = 0.05, data of pulses as indicator of working load,  working productivity was priorly data normality tested by Shapiro-Wilk Test with significance rate of ? = 0.05.  Data that normal distributed is continued with parametric statistic test using the t-paired test at significance rate of ? = 0.05. Research result shows that there is significant different (p<0.05) to working load variable, musculoskeletal complaint, fatigue and productivity.  At before treatment the average of pulses of ceiling painter is 118.95 + 2.30 dpm, average of musculoskeletal complaint is 78.50 + 5.84, average of fatigue is 74.22 + 388 and average of productivity is 0,070 + 0,017.  Whereas, at after treatment the average of pulses of ceiling painter is 111.89 + 6.58 dpm, average of musculoskeletal complaint is 61.61 + 1.71, average of fatigue is 64.50 + 2.88 and average of productivity is 0,086 + 0,070. Modification of painting roller holder stick turned out to decrease working load for 10,77%, musculoskeletal complaint for 21,51%, fatigue for 13,09%, and productivity is increasing for 22,85%. From discussion above it can be concluded that the modification of painting roller holder stick can decrease working load, musculoskeletal complaint, fatigue, and increase productivity.  In that case, it can be expected that the ceiling painter workers use this painting roller holder stick in order to minimize any complaint raises due to working process
