Abstract

This research is based on the problems in society related to the rights and roles of women who are neglected, because the indications of Hadith misogynically interpreted by classical commentators, on the one hand upholds the dignity of women, but on the other hand castrates women's rights by limiting the women's role in marriage life and closing their steps to contribute in the environment. The purposes of this study are; (1) to know the extent to which the students' understanding of the Hadiths studied in  uqudul lujayn book; (2) to dig into the understanding built in the study of the lqliya texts related to the misogynical Hadith; (3) to imply the understanding to everyday life. The method used in this study is a qualitative method by presenting data through verbal and then changed into description form, not numbers. The results showed that; (1) the santri who studied lqya lujayn book initially did not understand the existence of the misogynous Hadith and only understood the book and the teacher's information, after in-depth study, the students sought to re-understand by combining; (2) in the classical and hermeneutic method of interpretation  can be understood that there is no misogynist Hadith, but Hadits misogynically interpreted; (3) the understanding is implied on the activities of santriwati an-Nur in everyday life.

Abstract

The historiography of Indonesian political diplomacy in the Middle-East regions faces obstacles from the researchers themselves. The perspective contradictions are compounded by sorting data and sources. The appearance of Indonesian political diplomacy in the Middle East regions according to the Middle East researchers and academics themselves seems to be gloomy and lethargic, because they demand more than what Indonesia has achieved and done. Indonesia is considered not too interested in contributing to the recovery of conflict countries and the acceleration of the transition to democratic values. According to the other researchers who are not based on the Middle East institutions, the appearance of Indonesian political diplomacy in  the Middle East is quite positive and slightly vague. Unlike the case with the version that came out directly from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia about their achievements and performance in building diplomatic relations with related countries in the Middle East. Some achievements are recorded annually and submitted to the public in their annual reports. The constraints in historical writing can be overcome by the historical reasoning approach which tries to examine reason, thought and awareness, and which not only focuses on historical facts and events themselves. This approach is able to map the narrative contestation and discourse ideology, and find solutions to the problems.

Abstract

The phenomenon of communication process in pesantren occurs among kyai, ustadz, and santri creating a distinctive educational culture among pesantren. The relationship among them is very close, because santri permanently live in a pesantren environment nearby the kyai’s house. Europe in the mid-century is full of power, doctrine and domination of the church which has purpose to guide people towards a righteous life, but on the other hand the dominance of this church without thinking of the dignity and freedom of human beings who have feelings, thoughts, desires and ideals to determine his own future, therefore the development of science is inhibited. Meanwhile, the culture of education in pesantren raises a similar similarity though not the same, where the position of kyai is considered as the representative of the god who escaped the error. Both of these phenomena are presenting the dominance of the religious doctrine that can penetrate the layers of public confidence in various areas of life. Based on the study, it can be concluded that the leadership in pesantren with the "pekewuh" culture of Islamic religious figures (kyai) is found in the traditional society, and the leadership in the transitional society-especially in modern society and the metropolis-has experienced a crisis of legitimacy, irrelevant sense in the era of globalization , and degradative change, due to the various dynamics and changes that occur, both internal and external dynamics of the Muslim community.

Abstract

Epistemology of knowledge, also epistemology of legal studies, which is derived from the senses, rationality, and inner voices, has their own analysis methods to attain truths; inductive reasoning to seek validity of empirical knowledge, deductive reasoning for knowledge based on reason or rationality, and intuition for that derived from inner voices. The three analysis methods often lead to debate and contradicting claims creating a conflicting truth in epistemology. This conflicting claims of truth results in stagnancy, deviation, and distortion, in which the truth attained during the process may be misused for certain parties, since in the field of law, truth may be established to accommodate one’s needs. Therefore, it is crucial to create a concept which reconciles various epistemologies in knowledge, as well in legal studies, which is through a convergence of epistemology in legal studies through the perspective of Islamic philosophy. Through Islamic philosophy which is based on Quran, a conflicting knowledge derived through the senses, rationality, and inner voices will reconcile in one central point.Islamic philosophy which is based on Quran is the basis for epistemological truth derived from the senses, rationality, and inner voices, to simultaneously and jointly understand and complement each others’ strengths and weaknesses through a circular triadic process in order to reach reconciliation.

Abstract

The history of Islamic development in Indonesia has different characteristics compared to other Islamic regions such as Turkey, India, Egypt, Syria, and Morocco. The journey of Islam in Indonesia brings different colors and patterns that distinguish it from other Islamic regions. This happens because Islam is spreaded in the archipelago peacefully and in a gradual long time, unlike the other Islamic regions islamization which is not infrequently through the power of the armed forces. This article will explain the results of Islamic interaction with society who previously embraced Hinduism, Buddhism and animist beliefs dynamism in the form of Islamic Nusantara arts. The analytical method used in this paper is a combination of theories of acculturation and assimilation of Nusantara culture and Islamic culture. The combination of Nusantara culture and Islamic culture produces an Islamic art with the uniqueness of Nusantara without eliminating the elements of the old culture. The form of pre-Islamic Nusantara cultural heritage with the Islamic culture can be found in the architecture of mosques, Arabic Malay script, literary arts, painting and sculpture.

Abstract

Muhammad Salih As-Samarani was one of the Nusantara's intellectual figures of the past which was associated with the term 'Islam Nusantara'. This figure, in some of 'Islam Nusantara' literatures, is considered as one of the representative figures to explore and discover the foundation of 'Islam Nusantara'. His actions and thoughts in the 19th century in Java, which were able to connect Mecca and Pesantren and Pesantren and society, were indeed not negligible in the effort to build 'Islam Nusantara' argument. Recognition of the As-Samarani figure, in fact, is not only a field of scientific study for scholars, but also for ordinary people who are also increasingly keen to introduce As-Samarani in public. In this paper, as a preliminary study, the author tries to focus on seeing how As-Samarani is represented in public by ordinary people through YouTube. Almost all of the videos on Youtube which try to re-display As-Samarani figure appeared after the 'Islam Nusantara' become the 33rd NU Congress in Jombang. As-Samarani's figure on Youtube shows that along with the affirmation of the term 'Islam Nusantara', the As-Samarani figure is even more interesting for ordinary people, especially in media of his magical power contexts (such as turning stones into gold, meeting Imam Ghazali, his goats are able to defeat tigers), not his actions and thoughts, or more specifically perhaps his writings.

Abstract

Hassan Hanafi is one of the contemporary Islamic scholars who gives considerable attention to classical Islamic theology (kalam Islam). For him Islamic theology, such as the Ash’ari’s Kalam, cannot be proven scientifically also philosophically. Classical Islamic theology practically cannot be used as a view that can motivate the increasing of concrete actions in human life. This is caused by the compilation of classical Islamic theology tends not to be based on the pure awareness and the values of human actions. So that this creates a split between the theoretical faith into the practical faith of ummah. In turn, this conditions create the multiple moral attitudes or secretism of personality that makes Islamic society worse in poverty, oppression, backwardness and ignorance. For this problems, Hassan Hanafi offered a reconstruction that is to change a more grounded theological paradigm; that is from theocentric (God is the central of everything) to be anthropocentric (humanbeing is the central of everything). If the first paradigm sees world affairs as a matter of God, then the second paradigm sees world affairs as human affairs.
