1. Durio cupreus Ridley is considered to represent a distinct species.2. Durio wyatt-smithii Kosterm. is reported from Borneo.3. Machilus nervosa Merr. represents Meliosma bontoeensis Merr.4. Beilschmiedia brassii Allen represents Vavaea brassii (Allen) Kosterm.5. The author of the generic name Heritiera is Aiton.6. Heritiera macrophylla (non Wall.) Merr. is conspecific with H. ungus-tata Pierre.7. Some specimens from N. Celebes, attributed formerly to H. sylvatica Merr., belong to H. arafurensis Kosterm.8. Additional note on Heritiera littoralis Ait. and H. macrophylla Wall, ex Kurz.9. Heritiera montana Kosterm., nov. spec, from New Guinea and H. khidii Kosterm., nov. spec, from Northern Siam.10. Abstract

1. The present paper is the authors second revision of the genus Archidendron.The validity of the genus is briefly discussed.2. The genus has its centre of speciation in New Guinea. The number of speciestreated is 31, not counting a few insufficiently known species. A key is given to thespecies and varieties, which are described.3. The following are new species or varieties: Archidendron affine De Wit,A. calliandrum De Wit, A. dies-Christi De Wit, A. nervosum De Wit, A. parviflorumvar. longipes De Wit, and A. trifoliolatum De Wit.4. New combinations are: Archidendron gogolense (K. Schum. & Laut.) De Wit(basonym: Hansemannia gogolense K. Schum. & Laut.) and A.lucyi var. schleohterii(Harms) De Wit (basonym: Archidendron schlechterii Harms). .

Abstract

KARTONEGORO, A. & VELDKAMP, J.F. 2010. A revision of Dissochaeta (Melastomataceae) in Java. Reinwardtia  13(2): 125-145. - There are 12 species of Dissochaeta (Melastomataceae) in Java, Indonesia: D. bakhuizenii, D. bracteata, D. decipiens, D. fallax, D. gracilis, D. inappendiculata, D. intermedia, D. leprosa, D. monticola, D. reticulata, D. sagittata and D. vacillans. Diplectria and Macrolenes are regarded as separate genera and species traditionally classified within the latter have not been included. Dissochaeta leprosa, D. reticulata, and D. sagittata are reinstated as species. Dissochaeta gracilis is the most common species of Dissochaeta and D. bracteata is the rarest one. There are no endemics for the island. Each taxon is provided with literature references, synonymy, morphological descriptions, distribution, ecological habitat, collectors notes, and notes. An identification key and a list of collections seen are included.

Abstract

Two new monotypie genera (Kizakimonas bogoriensis and Hoehne mastix saopaulensis) and six other new species (four in Tetramitus and two in Balliamonas) of colourless flagellates are described based on samples collected in Bogor and Sao Paulo.

Abstract

PURWANTO, Y. 2002. Biodiversity management: Plant relation of the Dani people and vegetation dynamic in the Baliem valley of Irian Jaya, Indonesia. Reinwardtia 12(1): 1–94. ? The study was conducted in two approaches, ethnobotanical approach and ecological approach. Ethnobotanical approach consists of knowledge analization and plant nature environment uses which consists of spatial organization, botanical indigenous knowledge, traditional system on plant nomenclature, and treats the agriculture activities of the Dani–Baliem. Whereas, the later approach we analyse the floristic diversity in different environment existence in the Baliem Valley. In this ecological approach contains of analyse floristic of the primary forest of different altitude, secondary forest (fallow system of different ages), transition zone (zone ecotone), home garden, villages, protection area and sacred sites. The result indicated that the degradation of environment in the Baliem Valley, principally caused by agricultural activity and exploitation of natural resources. The traditional agricultural activities of Dani–Baliem society influence on decreasing of genetic resources on wild plant (wild species).On the contrary, these activities in the intraspecific diversity level,increase the number of cultivated plants. Further, Dani–Baliem people activities also influence the ecological diversity. This can be seen from different unit of environment existence like secondary forest, agricultural area, protection zone, sacred site, habitation areas etc.), where every unit have a specific use and a specific plant diversity.

Abstract

 1. The present notes on Teijsmanniodendron are based on a study of the specimens from Herbarium Bogoriense and the Herbarium of the Singapore Botanic Garden. 2. The taxonomic value of the principal characters and their variation are discussed. Each of the species recognized is annotated.3. A delimitation and subdivision of the genus in two sections, Plurifoliolatae Kosterm. and Unifoliolatae Kosterm., is proposed. 4. A key to the 12 species and 1 variety distinguished, is included. 5. One new species is provisionally described (but not named), and one new variety, Teijsmanniodendron pteropodum var. auriculatum Kosterm., is published. 6. The following new combinations are made: Teijsmanniodendron coriaceum B. Clarke) Kosterm., T. hollrungii (Warb.) Kosterm., T. holophyllum (Bak.) Kosterm., T.novoguineense (Kan. & Hatus.) Kosterm., T. sarawakanum (H. H. W. Pears.)Kosterm., T. smilacifolium (H. H. W. Pears.) Kosterm., and T. subspieatum (Hallier f.) Kosterm.7.. The genus Xerocarpa H. 3. Lam (non Spach) is rejected; its only species,X. avicenniaefoliola H. J. Lam, is referred to Teijsmanniodendron ahernianum (Merr.)Bakh. In addition, the following reductions are made: Teijsmanniodendron monophyllum Kurata = T. hollrungii (Warb.) Kosterm.; Vitex bankae H. J. Lam = T.ahernianum (Merr.) Bakh., V. bogoriensis H. J. Lam = T. ahernianum (Merr.) Bakh.;V. koordersii H. J. Lam t= T. pteropodum (Miq.) Bakh.; V. tetragona Hallier f. =T. sarawakanum (H. H. W. Pears.) Kosterm.; V. venosa H. J. Lam = T. coriaceum (C. B. Clarke) Kosterm. Possible identity of T. longifolium (Merr.) Merr. and T.bogoriense is suggested: the identity of T. simplicifolium Merr. and T. smilacifolium(H. H-, W. Pears.) Kosterm. is indicated as probable.8. Vitex subspicata Hallier f. and V. holophylla Bak., included by Lam in Vitae hollrungii Warb., are reinstated as distinct species of Teijsmanniodendron.

Abstract

The tribe Alberteae of Rubiaceae consists of genera like Cremaspora Benth., Polysphaeria Hook, f., Belonophora Hook, f., Aulacocalyx Hook, f.,Rhabdostigma Hook, f., Alberta E. Mey., Nematostylis Hook f. and Octotropis Bedd. All the above mentioned genera are natives of Africa and Madagascar except Octotropis Bedd. which is a monotypic Indian genus, described from Travancore Hills. A new genus, Pubistylus Thoth. from the Andaman Islands is now added to this tribe. It is interesting to point out that there is no representative genus of this tribe in Malaysia whose flora has greatly influenced the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Abstract

AKHRIADI,P.,HERNAWATI, PRIMALDHI, A. & HAMBALI, M. 2009. Nepenthes naga, a new species of Nepenthaceae from Bukit Barisan of Sumatra. Reinwardtia 12(5): 339 – 342. A new species of Nepenthes from North Sumatra is described as Nepenthes naga Akhriadi, Hernawati, Primaldhi & Hambali. The key characters for this species are a triangular dichotomous appendage resembling a snakes tongue inserted sub-apically on the undersurface of the lid, and the undulate lid margin.
