Abstract

AHMAD JAUHAR ARIEF. 1987.The composition and distribution of coral-reef molluscs community in Leuweung Sancang Reserve, West Java,Berita Biologi,3(7): 310 - 316.Observation was made on the moluscan fauna of coral-reef area at Leuweung Sancang Rcseive, West Java. All together,43 species of molluscs, representing three classes were collected The study mostly concern with the composition and distribution of these groups of animal. The analysis suggest that type of substrats is one of the major factors influencing the life habit of mollusc. The relationship between two aspects with the life habit and habitat is discussed.

Abstract

Abstract

MOH. AMIR & WORO A. NOERDJITO, 1986.The presence insects on the intercrop plants of pigeonpeas and tomatoes. Berita Biologi 3(6): 268 -272.Intercropping system to reduce number of potential insect pests. However, the result will be vary depend on the appropriate component of the selected crops. The experiments using toniatoes as an intercrop of pigeonpeas was carried out at the HKTI (Himpunan Karya Tani Indonesia) garden at Tajur Bogor. The number of insect species as well as diversity in the intercropped pigeonpeas were compared with that in the pure stand of the same crops. The result indicated that number of insect species visited in the intercropped pigeonpeas was greater than in its pure culture. The number of insect species in the intercropped and pure pigeon peas increased with the increase of its developmental stages. The index diversity in the intercropped pigeonpeas were higher than that in its culture.

Abstract

Peucang Island and Rakata Island, located in the vicinity of Sunda Strait,West Java.Among the four species of nematode recovered, Cruzia sp.had never been reported infesting rats before.

Abstract

Various types of plant communities in boanical gardens provide surroundings for animal ife.In addition to their main role in botany,he botanical gardens provide aspects for zoological investigations as well(Adisoemarto 1974) The Bogor Botanical Gardens provide most of all possible types of environments for the development and construction of mosquito population. To develop the study of some ecological aspects of the mosquitoes, the availability of qualitative data is very much desired. For this purpose, observations on mosquito fauna have been carried out in the Bogor Botanical Gardens and the Results are presented in this paper.

Abstract

White shells Meretrix meretrix is one of the bivalves that are often sold in local markets of Makassar. Meretrix meretrix is one type of shellfishes that is favoured by the people so that they are continuedly being taken from their habitat without considering the feasibility of the capture. This research was aimed to determine the correlation between shell length, shell width, shell thickness, and total weight of the meat as well as assessing the size of a decent catch of M. meretrix in Makassar. Morphometric relationship between the length, width and thickness of the shell and total weight of the meat was analyzed using regression analysis. The results showed that the length and width of the shell and the length and total weight had strong positive correlation (0.81 = r = 0.96 and 0.81 = r = 0,92 repectively). The lenght and thickness of shell was moderately correlated (0.57 = r = 0.76), while the length and weight of the meat showed weak correlation (0.02 = r = 0.47). Size of M. meretrix sold in TPI Rajawali, Sentral market and Tanjung market ranged between 2.00 ? 6.99 cm and has fulfilled the catching standard, which is > 4 cm.

Abstract

The results of 18 palms species studied showed that there were three species (Livistona chinensis (Jack) R.Br.ex Mart,Thrinax sp.and Sabal meeacarpg Small) which their cotyledone growth under ground level (group I), their first leaf did not cleave, these had two types of germination i.e. remote tubular (L. chinensis and Thrinax sp.)and remote ligular (S. meeacarpa).Thirthteen species (Heterosphate elata Scheff, Archonthophoenic alexandrae Wendl.& Drude, Areca triandra Roxb., Bentinckia nicobarica (Kurz.) Becc, Chrvsalidocarpus sp., C. lutescens H. Wendl.,Cvrtostachvs eleeans Burret, C.renda Blume, Drvmoploeus pachvcladus H.E.Moore, Neodypsis decarvi Jumelle,Oenocarpus panamanus L.H.Bailey, Pthvchosperma eleeans (R.Br.) Blume and Pritchardia pacifica Seem. & H.Wendl.) produce their cotyledone near ground level (group H), their first leaf cleft into two parts except on the species O. panamanus cleft into four parts, all of these species had adjacent ligular type of germination. There was large variability on the germination. The range of first germination was 12105 days after sowing, last germination was in the range of 78-212 days and the germinationpersentage was 1.3-94.0%.

Abstract

LUCIA FIDHIANY. 1985. Distribution andpropulation structure of Macrobrachium pilimanus (De Man) at Cisadane river. Berita Biologi 3 (3) :125 - 127. Study on spatial distribution and population structure of Macrobrachium pilimanus was conducted at Cigombong River and Cisalopa River. Based on seven habitat types in a river pool, distribution pattern of the prawn contagious. The prawn is a torrent species, because it prefers running water with gravels and stones more than stagnant one.Based on the size frequency classes, the population are bi - or polimodal for the male, and unimodal for the female. Sex ratio is equal, but the quantity of larger male is greater than female that indicate sexual dimorphism.
