Jurnal IPTEKS Pemanfaatan Sumberdaya Perikanan is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries Hasanuddin University. Abstract

This research aims to analyze public perceptions regarding coastal conservation areas in Sumalata District, North Gorontalo Regency. Conservation areas have an important role in protecting marine ecosystems, but effective management requires the support of coastal communities. This research uses survey and interview methods to explore the community's understanding of the benefits, challenges and their role in managing conservation areas. The research results show that community attitudes towards area conservation are generally positive, with a good understanding of the importance of conservation. In addition, the public's awareness of marine conservation regulations is high, especially regarding the implementation of protection regulations which have a direct impact on their daily activities. This research recommends increasing education and active community involvement in the management of conservation areas as an effort to increase the effectiveness of marine conservation in Sumalata District, North Gorontalo Regency.

Abstract

The production of trash fish from capture fisheries in South Bengkulu Regency is remarkably high but remains underutilised by the local community. Predominant trashfish species include peperek (Leiognathus bindus), senangin (Polynemus tetradactylum), and gulamah (Johnius trachycephalus). This study aims to evaluate the organoleptic, physical, and chemical characteristics of fish balls derived from trash fish through compositional experimentation. The research employed a randomised complete design (RCD) with seven product formulations and three replications. The study was conducted and tested at the Faculty of Agriculture Laboratory, Universitas Sriwijaya, from March to May 2024. The results revealed significant effects of multi-species fish ball compositions on moisture content, ash content, protein content, fat content, and whiteness degree. The gel strength testing showed a maximum gel strength of 138.73 g/cm². Furthermore, this research highlights that factors influencing the success of diversification strategies, including climate, freshness, trash fish species, production processes, ice addition, and raw material availability, could contribute to increased value and community welfare

Abstract

This study aims to describe the relationship between mackerel (Euthynnus affinis) catch and oceanographic conditions in the Flores Sea. This research was conducted from September to December 2020 in the waters of Bulukumba, Flores Sea. This research uses two methods: collecting primary data on tuna catches and geographic points; measuring parameters of Sea Surface Temperature (SST), chlorophyll-a, and salinity; and collecting secondary data in the form of satellite imagery of Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a and salinity obtained from several sites. Data analysis was carried out using multiple regression analysis and spatial analyst techniques. The results showed significant effects of SST parameters, chlorophyll-a, and salinity on tuna catch (p < 0.1).

Abstract

Silver barb (Barbonymus gonionotus) is a catch that is commonly found in the waters of Tempe Lake, Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi. Catching Silver barb (Barbonymus gonionotus) in the waters of Tempe Lake uses several types of fishing gear, including gill nets or lanra' (gill nets) with mesh sizes of 4, 4.5, 5, 6.5, 7, and 9 cm, dragon traps or ja'ba, traps, and lift nets. The purpose of this study is to analyze aspects of the population dynamics of Silver barb (Barbonymus gonionotus), which includes age group, growth, mortality, exploitation rate, and yield in a recruitment, and to analyze the catch of Silver barb (Barbonymus gonionotus) caught using gill nets, dragon traps, and lift nets. This research was conducted over two months, in November and December 2021. Stratified random sampling was used to select the participants. The fish were grouped into small, medium, and large sizes, and fish were randomly selected from each age group. The total sample obtained was 1600 tails with a total length range of 10-33 cm TL and an average length of 19.8 cm TL. The results of the analysis obtained two age groups: the first was in the length range of 10-18 cm, and the second was in the length range of 18-33 cm. Fish asymptote length (L∞) was 45 cm with a coefficient value (K) of 0.5 in a year, and fish age at length was zero (t0) = -0.2919 years. Natural mortality (M) was 1.05 per year, fishing mortality (F) was 2.19 per year, and total mortality (Z) was 3.24 per year. The exploitation rate value was 0.68, which exceeded the optimum exploitation rate (0.50). The value of yield in recruitment (Y/R') was 0.0166 g/recruitment, and the recruitment process was not normal.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) Identify the functions of PPI that running as its function according to PER.08/MEN/2012, (2) calculated the functioning rate according to PER.08/MEN/2012. This research was conducted in November until December 2021 at PPI Bonto Bahari, Bontoa District, Maros regency, South Sulawesi province. The method in this research used a case study method through direct observation of the activities at PPI by collected primary and secondary data obtained by using observation, interview and questionnaire filling. Identification function was analyzed by descriptively the function rate was analyzed by using a scoring method. So the results are (1) for the function of government there are only three of ten functions are implemented is catch & fishery data collection, supervision and control of fish resources and monitoring of coastal areas and business function there are only four of nine functions are implemented is mooring services, utilization of land and facilities, fish loading and unloading services, and marketing and distribution of fish, (2) The functioning rate for ten government functions is 28% suitability value, for nine business functions is 40% suitability value, these two functions are included in the category of 50% non-functioning. The conclusion is that the government function and the business function at PPI Bonto Bahari Maros Regency are not running generally as its function.
