Abstract

One of the indicators to measure college students’ achievement is Grade Point Average (GPA). Moreover, nutritional status and learning pattern also influence the learning outcomes. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between nutritional status and learning pattern with learning outcomes of Biology student of Universitas Negeri Semarang. The research was a mixed method research design particularly sequential explanatory strategy.The population of the research were students majoring in biology class registered as college students in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. The sampling technique in the quantitative method used proportional random sampling while purposive sampling was applied in the qualitative method. Students’ learning outcomes, in this case, were GPA. Four methods in the data collection were employed. They were an assessment of Body Mass Index (BMI), questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed used partial correlation analysis followed by a multiple correlation and regression analysis. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship as many as 44.2% of nutritional status and learning pattern with learning outcomes. Thus, it was suggested that the nutritional status and learning pattern contribute positively to improve students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

Utilization of teaching materials with the latest innovation called mobile learning can be applied in learning using Android-based smartphones. Kingdom Plantae is a complex material so it needs effective teaching materials using Information Technology (IT). The development of IT has not been utilized as teaching materials. This study aims to develop Android-based e-module as a teaching material for the X-class students of Plantae kingdoms worthy, practical and effective materials. Research and Development (R & D) stages include identification of potential and problems, data, e-module design, e-module validation, revision I e-module design, small-scale trial, revision II e-module design, large-scale trials, final revision and product of the Android-based e-module material of Plantae kingdom. Data completion method is done by giving questionnaire of media and material validity, and questionnaire of practicality on small and wide scale test. Data analysis used descriptive percentage. The result of the research shows e-module worthy of teaching materials with material percentage of material 81,75% and media 88,46%. E-modules are practically used as teaching materials with a percentage of 83.05% scale test and 88.06% widescreen scale and e-modules with effectively average N-Gains of 0.61 (medium category). Based on these results, can get Android-based e-module can be used as a teaching material of high school students X class of Plantae kingdom.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the activities, study results, attitudes and relationships of study results with students attitudes on the application of bioedutainment strategies with the role playing material of the nervous system. This research uses pre-experimental design design with one group pretest-posttest design. The population in this research is all students of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 7 Semarang with two classes as a sample determined by purposive sampling. The independent variable is a bioedutainment strategy with role playing. The dependent variable is activity, study result, and attitude. Control variables include teachers, lesson hours, curriculum, and face-to-face time. Student activity is analyzed descriptively percentage. Study results were analyzed with N-gain and quantitative. Attitudes are analyzed descriptively percentage. Student  activities show average is active criteria (77%). Study results achieve classical mastery (86.5%). The mean N-gain of students in both classes included moderate criteria (0.44 and 0.40). Students attitudes toward psychotropic and addictive abuse show very high criteria (92% and 86%). Study results with attitudes toward psychotropic abuse and addictive substances have strong correlations (0.705 and 0.610). Teachers and students respond positively and well. Conclusion: bioedutainment strategy with role playing has a positive effect on the activity, study results and attitudes of students and there is a significant relationship between study results and student attitudes.

Abstract

Zygomycota and Ascomycota Classesare classified as the Fungi Kingdom groups It is needed to hold a practicum activity in the fungi grouping learning. Nevertheless, the tools and materials at school to observe the fungi are inadequate. Therefore, it is necessary to hold a fungi practicum which accompanied with a students worksheet that is able to develop the students’ science process skills so that the teachers and the students are able to achieve the learning objectives of the Fungi material. This study aims to analyze the students science process skills after the application of guided-inquiry learning model in the fungi practicum activity. The study used pre-experimental design method with one-shot case study design as the research method. Furthermore, the students’ understanding level is obtained based on the results of the students skill score, such as the ability to observe and to conduct an experiment which able to reach the defined completeness criteria. The result shows that the observation skills score of class X.MIA.1 and class X.MIA.3 were 85% and 91% and the experimental skills score of class X.MIA 1 and class X.MIA.3 were 85.7% and 88.5%. The understanding of fungi material is classified successful in Fungi practicum learning activity due to the classical completeness that reaches above 85%.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to know the worthiness and the effectiveness of Envirokal (Environment of Pekalongan) booklet with problem-solving method in the lesson of environmental pollution against student’s learning outcome. The research is done at Senior High School 3 Pekalongan with a Research and Development (R&D) design, with 10 steps of research starting from the needs assessment, until obtaining the final product, i.e. booklet. The assessment done by the experts shows that the Envirokal Booklet obtained high scores as and it was concluded that the Envirokal Booklet was very effective to be used as learning material and could increase the individual score and classical completeness.

Abstract

This research aims to optimize the learning activities and test the effectiveness of the use of flash media microscope in biology lab. Research using a design research and development that includes four stages, namely field observations, the implementation of media development, media validation, and implementation of the pilot (small scale and large scale). Small-scale trials were conducted at SMAN 5 Magelang class XI MIA-1 and large-scale trials were conducted at SMAN 5 Magelang XI MIA-1 and XI MIA-3 classes. Validation results from media experts and microscopes experts were 82% and 69%, respectively, with good criteria. The results of the small-scale trials showed a positive response to the flash media using the microscope, while the large-scale trials showed results of 82% of students with criteria skilled in using a microscope. The result of questionnaire of student responses shows very good criteria to flash media learning of microscope usage and good on all aspect asked, while teacher give very good response. Based on the results of research and discussion concluded that the use of microscope flash media developed feasible in optimizing the activities of Biology practicum.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the effectiveness of contextual learning with Handout and Arthropod’s preservation of high school students learning outcomes. The research was conducted at SMA N 1 Bulu Sukoharjo  Regency with research method by Pre-Experimental Design. The sample was X IA 1 and X IA 4 which taken by purposive sampling technique. The results showed that there was an influence on the results of psycomotor learning in the category very effective with percentage reach 85,94%, while the results of cognitive learning is in the category less effective with percentage 48%. The average of the students questionnaire responses after joining the learning was in very good criteria. Generally, the teacher and the students also gave good responses on the implementation of the learning. The conclusion of the research is the application of contextual learning with Handout and preserved Arthropod’s not yet effectively applied in learning.

Abstract

Natural Science is the study of the phenomenon that occurs in the student environment. Directly oriented learning in the student environment makes learning meaningful because students can see the real object being studied. Based on the observations in SMP Negeri 5 Pekalongan, learning activity has not utilized the environment as a learning source. Whereas the location of the school near the appropriate learning sources to study environmental pollution material. Student learning outcomes are less than optimal and students tend to be passive. Therefore, variations are made in the learning by utilizing the Kalibanger River as a source of learning environmental about environment pollution. The method used in this research is quasi experimental design type nonequivalent control group design. Determination of the sample is done by purposive sampling technique and used as experimental class is class VII F and control class is class VII D. Student retrieval data using test instrument, while student activity is taken from observation sheet and questionnaire. Learning result data obtained by posttest value is higher than pretest. Increased learning results occur due to learning activities undertaken by students. Recapitulation of experimental class student activity is 87,9% which belong to very active criteria. Based on the results of t-test calculation obtained t-count = 3.323> 2.040 so H1 accepted, it can be concluded learning Kalibanger river utilization as a source of learning about environmental pollution can increase the activity and learning outcomes of students of SMP Negeri 5 Pekalongan.

Abstract

PP RI no. 66 of 2010 article 53B (1) and Permendiknas no. 34 of 2010 article 3 (1) state that a higher education unit which is organized by the government is required to recruit new undergraduate students through a national admission of at least 60% of the number of new students who are accepted for each Study Program. The objective of this study was to analyze the differences in student learning outcomes according to the admission line of Biology Education Program students of FMIPA UNNES. This study used sequential explanatory design combination method. The population of this study was the students of Biology Education Study Program of FMIPA UNNES class of 2013 to 2016. The quantitative samples were chosen using total sampling method and the qualitative samples were chosen using purposive sampling method. In this study, the students learning outcomes were in the form of GPA. The data of this study were collected using document study method, questionnaire, and interview. The data were then analyzed using descriptive technique percentage, two way anova, regression, and qualitative analysis of Miles & Huberman (Sugiyono, 2011). The results showed that the average of students GPA of SNMPTN was 3.32, the average of students’ GPA of SBMPTN was 3.29, and the average of students’ GPA of SM was 3.25. The sig value in the two way anova test to examine the difference of GPA according to the admission line is caused by the level of family, campus, society environment, and learning motivation were 0.834, 0.322, 0.810, and 0,246> 0.00 respectively which means there was no significant differences in GPA among students of the three admissions line. The result of R2 value on the regression analysis showed that the most contributing variable to the GPA were the campus environment (86.1%), the learning motivation (82.2%), the family environment (76.7%), and the least was the level of community environment (74.8%). It can be concluded that there is no significant difference of students learning outcomes according to student admission line in Biology Education Program of FMIPA UNNES caused by the level of family, campus, society, and students motivation.

Abstract

Student learning outcomes of human reproductive system material under passing grade become an obstacle for students to achieve the learning objectives. Some students are not enthusiastic about human reproductive system material because it is considered difficult. Students still do not understand related to the structure and function of reproductive organ systems, abnormalities and hormones. Based on the problems above then it takes a learning to attract attention or enthusiasm of students. Media is one of the important factors of teaching and learning process. Use of media aims to facilitate teachers in convey learning so students become more easily understand the material. The purpose of this research is to analyze the usage effectiveness of video and mama card in Biology lesson of human reproductive system material. This research used True Experimental Design with Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The analysis of data includes quantitative data to student activities and learning outcomes, then descriptive analysis to teacher’s opinion and students’ opinion. The result of this research showed that student activities and student learning outcomes in the experimental class is higher than the control class. Teacher and students gave positive reviews to the learning process. Based on the result of research, it was concluded that use of video and mama card was effective in increasing student activities and student learning outcomes in human reproductive system material.
