Abstract

Reading and writing abilities give the benefit for improving knowledge on integrated English information, where the information is needed to support in this era. It encourages the integration of learning strategies to improve the ability of English literacy. The research has purposed to (1) analyze the effectiveness of learning strategies in the ability of English literacy, (2) analyze the motivational learning influences the student towards English literacy ability, (3) analyze English literacy ability uses GIST strategy and KWL strategy towards learning motivation. The research method used a mix method (quantitative and qualitative) with concurrent embedded research design. The research population was the eight classes of SMPN 1 Lebakwangi. Analyzing the results showed that using GIST strategy was more effective on English literacy than KWL strategy; GIST strategy assisted the students in sorting and selecting vocabularies for classifying the important information so that it could conclude information to facilitate the understanding. The benefit of this research was to support as a reference in the learning of English literacy and to add the insight for improving English literacy ability to integrating GIST strategy and KWL strategy in the learning activity. Moreover, the use of learning strategies promoted students for critical thinking in processing and developing information that was appropriated to them.

Abstract

Teaching materials are a set of learning facilities or tools that contain learning materials, methods, boundaries, and how to evaluate a systematic and attractive designed to achieve the expected goal, namely achieving competence or sub competence with all its complexity. This research aims to (1) analyzing the chemical materials used in the class of XI IPA, (2) to develop the teaching materials that should be used in chemical learning, (3) test the feasibility of e-module based on problem chemical, (4) to examine the effectiveness of the chemical e-module based on problem based learning. This research uses the model of Research and Development (R & D). The teaching materials used in chemistry learning in the classes of XI IPA are LKS and published books. The teaching materials are developed in the form of e-module of chemical based on problem-based learning. The steps include: Presenting the problem, organizing the students, investigation of the group, Development, and presentation of the work, and evaluation of the results of the investigation. The feasibility of an e-module based on the problem of chemical media experts and the materials and practitioner’s validation. The validation is done in two stages. On the feasibility Validation e-module chemical based on problem-based learning in steps two, the result obtained e-modules based on the problem of chemistry that has achieved maximum score with the category is good that can be used in learning. Based on the effectiveness test that is using descriptive test, prerequisite test, and hypothesis test, it can be concluded that e-module of chemical based on problem-based learning can improve the concept of student understanding. The results of the study are expected to strengthen the theory of learning technology, especially on the development of chemical teaching materials. This Research as a means of procurement of educational products, i.e., e-module based on the problem-based learning that is flexible, efficient and effective, and can be used as a source of reading capable of providing an understanding of the enhanced student concepts mastery in learning of chemistry.

Abstract

One of the disadvantages in the process of learning that is conducted by teachers is the lack of effort to increase the effectiveness of PBL-Based High order thinking the skill of students. The purpose of this research is knowing the Learning HOTS-Based in English Learning. The research method that is used in this research is a quantitative method. The population in this study was students of class XI- Public Senior High School 12 Semarang. The sampling technique was carried out by a random sampling technique, which is class XI IPA 2 as an experimental class and XI IPA Class 1 as the control class. Learning outcomes using HOTS-based PBL-Based HOTS has increased pre-test and post-test values from 33.47 to 35.00 while the Discovery Learning-based HOTS has increased from 33.29 to 34.20, (2) on the PBL-Based HOTS, pre-test value of high motivated-students is 31.89 has increased in post-test of 6.55 to 38.44. While the low-motivated students have a pre-test value of 29.89 and have increased in post-test of 1.89 to 31.78 for Discovery Learning-based HOTS, pre-test value on high-motivated students of 34.11, it has increased in post-test of 0.45 to 34.56 while in low-motivated students has the pre-test value of 29.67, experiencing an increase on post-test of 3.11 to 32.78, and (3) there is interaction between PBL-based HOTS with Discovery Learning-Based HOTS to student learning outcomes. The research is capable of generating synthesis about the effectiveness of Discovery Learning-Based HOTS in English learning, providing empirical evidence so that schools and teachers can select effective learning models and it can be a basis or a reference to further research in English learning.

Abstract

The success achieved in the learning process is mostly determined by the ability of educators to develop teaching materials for basic automotive technology subjects with essential competencies evaluating battery work. This study aims to develop student worksheets based on Mathematical Science Technology Engaging (STEM), testing their feasibility, validity, and effectiveness. This study uses the Research and Development method and is carried out in the class X light automotive vehicle engineering at Vocational High School Harapan Mulya Kendal. The results of the study were obtained STEM-based student worksheets are appropriate to use so that they provide feedback to students to know the level of success of their learning and Completion in learning outcomes, the validity of STEM-based student worksheets Raising strong motivation and creativity for maximum learning because of guided education. Learning procedural, namely learning directed at the formation of character and work skills of participants, its effectiveness fosters collaboration between students and between students and teachers in the learning process. Based on the results of the development, it shows that the worksheet fulfills valid and practical criteria. It is recommended to be used as an alternative teaching material evaluating the work of the battery. The results of the study have new elements; namely, students know the relevance of concepts, practices, and content that directs thinking scientifically.

Abstract

Mathematics is still a shortcoming for primary school children. Various studies were conducted to improve the learning results of mathematics. Unexpectedly there was a phenomenon in a remote place, under the foot of Mount Lawu, which was a primary school that had been ranked in the top ten of the National and 5 of Central Java Province to achieve the National Mathematics exam scores. The primary school is Public Elementary School 03 Bandardawung. Good scores of students at Public Elementary School 03 Bandardawung are still stable today. This study aims to determine the learning and causes of excellence of students at Public Elementary School 03 Bandardawung in Mathematics. The research method uses qualitative descriptive-analytical with phenomenological design. The results showed: First, planning of learning in the design according to the materials and needs of the students and following the prevailing rules. Second, the implementation of learning is implemented in the student center with media optimization. Third, evaluation is done from the process to the end, there is a repetition system, where if there are students who do not understand, it will be repeated continuously until the student understands. Fourth, the competency of teachers is good, demonstrated by the fulfillment of four teachers competence and ten basic teaching techniques. Fifth, the school, community, and family environment fully support learning. Synergy, support, and high dedication from all elements make learning so optimal. The benefit of research is to provide an overview of how potential Mathematics learning can be used widely because it has proven its good results over the years at Public Elementary School 03 Bandardawung.

Abstract

Teacher professional development training is carried out by the government to improve the pedagogical and professional competence of teachers in learning KK A and B modules through in on in mode. This study has the purpose of determining the effect of the continuous professional development of in on in mode toward the pedagogical and professional competence of the elementary school teachers in Kendal Regency. This study was conducted using quantitative research methods of experimental post-test only control design t-test. The experimental group was given treatment, and the control group did not participate in the continuous professional development program in on in model, which was then given a post-test with the same questions. The results showed that there were differences in the pedagogical competencies with a significant value of 0.002 and differences in professional competence with a significant value of 0.001. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the continuous professional development program in on in mode affects the pedagogical competence. However, it does not affect professional competence. By increasing the teacher competence, it will affect the quality of the world of education for students, schools, a country in general and personal matter of teachers in particular. Training that can measure the results of activities based on their preparation, process and evaluation that can improve teacher competence in the field of linguistics needs to be carried out.
