Abstract

Students’ shortcoming in understanding various concepts of physics is often due to the lack of teaching media can promote student active participation in the learning process. This study aims to develop a valid and effective microcontroller-based physics learning materials as teaching media in enhancing conceptual understanding of free fall motion lessons. This learning materials is developed using the research and development (R&D) method. Effectiveness test of learning materials using pre-experimental research design one group pretest-posttest involve students of physics education program in STKIP SoE. Data collection techniques were done through validation sheets, observations, test questions, and questionnaire sheets. Validation of learning materials through expert testing shows that learning materials are in a valid category. The results of the study shows that learning materials have a positive effect in improving students' conceptual understanding. The effectiveness of the use of learning materials in improving students' understanding of concepts has been analyzed through the results of N-gain calculations which show a moderate score increase. Moreover, the practicality test of learning materials using a Likert scale shows that learning materials are very practical to utilize as teaching media.

Abstract

Misconception is a concept contradicts with scientific definitions or definitions approved by experts of particular field. Learners’ misconception cannot be eliminated but minimized so they do not grasp incorrect concept which can be identified through diagnostic tests. A research had been conducted to identify physics student teacher misconception. The research was undertaken using qualitative method with survey design. The population covered whole physics major students with 30 students of 6th semester as samples. Data collection was done by giving three tier multiple choice model of diagnostic test developed by Ambarwati on electricity, magnetism, and solar system materials. Data source of this study was primary data source since data was taken directly from research subjects. Data was analyzed using descriptive qualitative data analysis technique. The result showed that 18% students experienced misconception, 40% partially understood, 12% fully understood, and 30% did not understand concept. 20% misconception identification of electricity comprised static electric, determining physical quantity on circuit, defining electrical energy and power in daily life; 18 % magnetism material on how to make magnet or determining poles that affected electromagnetic induction; and 17% solar system material about characteristics of astronomical objects and emerging phenomena due to climate changing on earth surface. the identifications result implied a demand of developing and applying innovative, creative, and appealing learning in remediating and fixing misconception.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to increase students' motivation and cognitive learning outcomes through the application of physics learning media based on the game of snakes and ladders in senior high school class X related to the material of work and energy. The research method used is a pre-experimental type with a one-group pretest-posttest design research model. Data collection techniques are through test techniques for learning outcomes and questionnaire techniques for student motivation and responses. Data were analyzed based on paired sample t-test technique, N-Gain test, and percentage descriptive. The results of the research obtained an increase in students' cognitive physics learning outcomes based on the results of the t-count score smaller than t-table, a large increase of 38.39% (medium), student learning motivation increased from good category (78.63%) to very good (88.47%), while the students' responses were categorized as very good. Therefore, the use of snakes and ladders game media is effectively applied for learning in SMA class X on the material of work and energy.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar fisika berbasis kearifan lokal anyaman Nyiru untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa. Populasi dan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMA Kristen 1 SoE pada materi Hukum Newton. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D). Tahapan penelitian ini menggunakan beberapa langkah-langkah, yaitu (1) potensi dan masalah; (2) pengumpulan informasi; (3) desain produk; (4) validasi produk; (5) perbaikan produk; (6) uji coba lapangan (skala kecil). Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah soal tes, lembar angket validasi, dan angket respon siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik tes dan teknik angket. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dengan metode presentase. Analisis deskriptif digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan hasil pengembangan dan analisis kuantitatif digunakan untuk menganalisis hasil validasi dan respon siswa serta uji Normalized gain untuk melihat peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil validasi bahan ajar oleh 4 orang validator dengan rata-rata persentase media bahan ajar adalah 79% dengan kategori valid dan rata-rata persentase materi adalah 82% dengan kategori valid. Nilai N-gain terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa diperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 0,82 dengan kriteria tinggi dan data terhadap respon siswa diperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 74,86% dengan kriteria Baik. Hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa bahan ajar berbasis kearifan lokal anyaman Nyiru yang dikembangkan valid sehingga dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu sumber belajar dalam kegiatan pembelajaran fisika di sekolah.

Abstract

A research have been done in order to implement viscometer learning media as an effort to improve students’ understanding towards the concepts and skill process in science for students in university who become the physic teachers candidate. This study used pre-experimental method through 0ne group pre-test-post-test design. The samples of this study were 30 students who were taking Fluid course.  The techniques used to gain the data were test, questionnaires, observation by taking the students test questions, questionnaires sheets and observation sheets. The techniques used to analyze the data were double t-test, N-gain test and descriptive analysis in percentage by using Likert Scale. The result of data analysis using t-test showed that there was improvement on students’ comprehension towards science concepts and skill process that were taught using viscometer learning media.  N-gain significance test also showed that there was an improvement on students’ comprehension in “medium” level by showing 0. 56 grade and students’ skill process was in ‘high’ category or 0.71 in grade. This means that the understanding of concepts and science skills of student’s increased significantly after being taught using a viscometer learning media. The result of observation sheets analysis showed that there was science skill process improvement by the average percentage was 85. 92%. Students responses were very positive towards the application of the using viscometer learning media in learning with 80,6% presentation.  By therefore, using viscometer learning media implemented in learning can improve understanding of concepts and science process skills

Abstract

The objective of study was developing diagnostic test evaluation instrument in multiple choice form with predetermined reason to identify Grade VIII student’s misconceptions on force topic in SMPN Oenino. Population of the study covered all students whereas the samples were Grade VIII students SMPN Oenino. The research method was Research and Development (R&D) with potential and problem, gathering information, product design, product validation, product revision, and product trial. Validation phase included experts and content validation. On expert’s validation, test instrument was validated by 3 validators with 87,7% worthiness average and was recommended applicable without revision. On content validation, 45 test items were tried out to students and 17 items were declared valid ranging from C1 to C4 cognitive domain which were used later to identify student’s misconceptions. Their misconceptions on force material were 23%, 38%, 13% and 26% from C1 to C4 cognitive domains. The result indicated that this instrument was applicable to identify student’s misconception on force materials.

Abstract

Miskonsepsi harus diidentifikasi dan diperbaiki melalui pembelajaran sehingga peserta didik dapat memahami konsep yang benar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui profil miskonsepsi peserta didik pada materi kinematika gerak dan fluida statis dengan menggunakan tes diagnostik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskritif. Populasi dari penelitian adalah seluruh peserta didik di SMA Kristen 1 Soe dan SMA Kristen Kesetnana denga sampel penelitian peserta didik kelas X dan kelas XI. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik tes dengan alat pengumpulan data soal tes diagnostik Teknik analisis yang gunakan adalah analisis deskriptif persentase dengan menganalisi CRI dari setiap jawaban peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan besar persentase miskonsepsi pada SMA Kristen 1 Soe sebesar 69,46% dan SMA Kristen Kesetnana sebesar 69,33% untuk materi kinematika gerak. Sedangkan pada materi fluida statis besar persentase miskonsepsi 57,50% pada SMA Kristen 1 Soe dan 57,71% pada SMA Kristen Kesetnana. Penyebab miskonsepsi adalah intuasi peserta didik dan penalaran konsepyang kurang lengkap. Oleh karena itu, kajian profil miskonsepsi peserta didik ini memberikan gambaran bahwa miskonsepsi harus diperbaiki agar peserta didik dapat memahami konsep yang benar.

Abstract

The aim of this community service activity is to enhance the scientific literacy skills of lower-grade students in Kesetnana village through educational game-based lessons. The activity is conducted in several stages, including planning, preparation, implementation, evaluation, and reporting. The outcome of this initiative is the development of educational game media and its utilization in the teaching process, resulting in a significant increase in scientific literacy skills of over 65%. Additionally, students' interest in learning has risen by 68.8% according to indicators of learning motivation, demonstrating their positive response to the educational game-based approach. Therefore, efforts to promote scientific literacy among lower-grade elementary school students in Kesetnana village can be effectively carried out through regular lesson activities over a three-week period, leading to improved scientific literacy skills and increased learning motivation.
