Abstract

This study addresses the significant transformation of Islamic economics over the last two decades, highlighting its expansion from a financial system free of usury to a broader socio-economic phenomenon involving lifestyle, culture, and technological innovation. Unlike previous research that mainly focuses on formal Islamic finance institutions, this study examines the intersection of regulation, contemporary Muslim lifestyles, and social technology as key drivers shaping the current dynamics of Islamic economics. The motivation behind this research is to understand how these factors influence the authenticity and sustainability of Islamic economic practices amid globalization and digitalization. Using a qualitative approach through library research, this study critically reviews scholarly literature, regulatory documents, and social narratives to provide a comprehensive conceptual analysis. The findings reveal a complex interaction where regulatory frameworks often lag behind rapid societal changes, Muslim lifestyles sometimes emphasize symbolic consumption over substantive spiritual values, and technology presents both opportunities for inclusion and risks of commodifying religion. The study emphasizes the need for adaptive regulatory mechanisms grounded in maqashid shariah (objectives of Islamic law), enhanced digital literacy, and critical engagement with Muslim consumer culture. The policy implication is that Islamic economic development requires an integrative and interdisciplinary framework to ensure that economic activities truly reflect Islamic ethical principles and contribute to social justice, sustainability, and community welfare.

Abstract

Economic education plays a strategic role in shaping students’ knowledge, attitudes, and skills to face the dynamic challenges of the modern economic world. However, the current curriculum in Indonesian secondary schools tends to adopt a conventional economic paradigm, focusing more on technical and market-based aspects, while neglecting the integration of Islamic economic values. This study aims to fill the gap by developing a model for integrating Islamic economic values—such as prohibition of riba, justice in distribution, zakat, waqf, and ethical business conduct—into the economics curriculum. Unlike previous studies that mainly focused on Islamic economics in financial institutions, this research addresses the practical implementation of these values in formal education settings. Motivated by the urgency to produce not only academically competent graduates but also morally sound individuals, the study uses a qualitative approach through library research and curriculum document analysis. The findings reveal that integrating Islamic economic principles can provide a more holistic economic understanding, bridging ethical-spiritual dimensions with modern economic practices. Furthermore, the study proposes a systematic model of curriculum integration involving content, teaching methods, and evaluation strategies. The results hold significant implications for policymakers, educators, and curriculum developers in shaping an economic education that aligns with Indonesia’s religious and cultural values.

Abstract

Each institution has a unique contribution: madrasahs focus on strengthening religious education, pesantrens emphasize the formation of morals and spirituality, while universities play a role in the development of science and technology. However, significant challenges are faced in integrating a curriculum that is relevant to the needs of the times, utilizing technology in learning, and improving the quality of educators. Abstract

The development of information and communication technology (ICT) has revolutionized the world of education, driving the transformation of learning systems from conventional models toward more flexible and adaptive approaches. In the context of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0, higher education is required not only to pursue technological innovation but also to uphold humanistic values. One rapidly evolving approach is blended learning—a model that combines online and face-to-face learning methods. This approach is considered effective in enhancing flexibility, active participation, and student learning independence. However, the implementation of blended learning in Indonesia remains suboptimal due to various challenges, including limited infrastructure, low digital literacy, and insufficient pedagogical readiness among lecturers. This study employs a qualitative approach through a literature review to analyze the impact of blended learning on student learning outcomes, covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. The findings indicate that blended learning has significant potential to improve learning outcomes, especially when supported by appropriate instructional design and adequate infrastructure. Nevertheless, the successful implementation of this model largely depends on strong institutional support, faculty training, and equitable access to technology. Therefore, blended learning should be seen not merely as a technical innovation but as a strategic transformation toward a more inclusive, effective, and sustainable higher education system in the digital era.
