Abstract

The catfish (Clarias gariepinus) farming business in Wates Village demonstrates significant economic potential, supported by increasing market demand. Catfish production data in Nganjuk District indicates a growth trend of 11% from 2021 to 2023. Contributing factors include relatively short harvest cycles, high production levels, and simple cultivation and maintenance processes, which have attracted a growing number of entrepreneurs to enter this sector. However, despite these advantages, the catfish farming industry faces several internal and external challenges. Internally, farmers encounter problems such as water quality management and the spread of fish diseases. Externally, they must contend with market price fluctuations, limited digital access, and inadequate infrastructure. These conditions highlight the need for a comprehensive strategic study to guide sustainable development in the catfish farming sector. This study aims to identify and analyze internal factors, strengths and weaknesses, as well as external factors, opportunities and threats, that influence the success of catfish farming in Wates Village. The research was conducted in February 2025 using purposive sampling, involving five teenage respondents selected from catfish farming businesses. The scope focuses on aspects of production management, environmental conditions, and market access strategies. To determine strategic priorities, the study employs a combination of the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis and the Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) method. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with business actors, and document reviews. The results indicate that the top strategic priority, with the highest Total Attractiveness Score (TAS) of 5.54, is the implementation of a filtration system and regular water quality monitoring. In addition, the implementation of biosecurity measures and the optimization of digital-based distribution channels can support the applied development strategy. This research is expected to serve as a reference for entrepreneurs and policymakers in designing competitive and sustainable catfish farming development strategies.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of manure and potassium fertilizer application on the growth and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata). The experiment was conducted in Ringinanom Village, Nganjuk Regency, from June to August 2025 using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors: manure dosage (0, 4, 8, and 12 kg/plot) and potassium fertilizer dosage (0, 3, 5, and 6 g/plant). The results showed that both manure and potassium fertilizers significantly affected plant growth and yield. For plant height, manure at 4–8 kg/plot resulted in the best growth up to the late vegetative stage (44 days after planting). The highest number of leaves was obtained from the combination of 12 kg/plot manure and 5 g/plant potassium fertilizer. At the generative stage, potassium at 5 g/plant produced the longest ear (20.33 cm) and the largest ear diameter (4.91 cm). These findings indicate that combining organic manure with potassium fertilizer enhances nutrient uptake efficiency, photosynthetic activity, and generative organ formation. Agronomically, the integration of organic and inorganic fertilizers effectively improves soil fertility and optimizes sweet corn productivity. Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum) are an important horticultural commodity that plays a role in food sustainability and strengthening the agricultural economy. Nganjuk Regency is one of the main production centers in East Java, but production levels show significant differences between subdistricts. This study aims to analyze the differences in shallot production in five subdistricts in Nganjuk Regency using secondary data from BPS for 2020–2024. The analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential approaches, including normality tests, homogeneity tests, One-Way ANOVA, and Tukey HSD follow-up tests. The results show significant differences in production between subdistricts with an F value of 47.2 and significance < 0.001. Rejoso Subdistrict has the highest and most stable production level, followed by Gondang and Bagor Subdistricts as medium-productivity areas, while Sukomoro and Wilangan are at low productivity levels. These differences were influenced by agronomic conditions, planting area, availability of irrigation, and the application of cultivation technology. These results indicate the importance of production improvement strategies in low productivity areas through improvements in agricultural infrastructure and increased farmer capacity.
