Abstract

Digital transformation has profoundly altered the landscape of the workplace and triggered high levels of work stress and digital fatigue among employees. This study aims to analyze the influence of emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence on employee performance through a literature review approach. The research method employed is a literature review by examining scholarly articles retrieved from the Google Scholar database using the keyword “the effect of emotional intelligence on employee performance.” From the initial search, 96 scholarly articles were identified, which were then rigorously screened until 6 articles most relevant to the research objectives were selected. The findings indicate that emotional intelligence has a positive and significant effect on employee performance because it helps individuals manage work stress, build harmonious interpersonal relationships, and improve adaptability in facing modern work dynamics such as hybrid work systems and digital fatigue. In addition, spiritual intelligence has also been proven to positively affect employee performance through the enhancement of integrity, intrinsic motivation, sense of responsibility, and deeper meaning in work. The strong synergy between emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence has been shown to strengthen employee engagement and create a more humanistic and sustainable work environment. Therefore, organizations need to integrate the development of employees’ emotional and spiritual aspects into formal training programs as a key strategy to improve productivity, mental well-being, and overall work effectiveness in the era of digital transformation.

Abstract

Employee work motivation remains one of the most important determinants of organizational performance, employee engagement, and long-term organizational sustainability. Human Resource (HR) training and development have been widely recognized as strategic interventions for enhancing employee motivation; however, existing findings remain fragmented across different organizational contexts and theoretical perspectives. This study aims to systematically review the relationship between HR training and development and employee work motivation through the lens of Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory. A literature review approach was employed by analyzing 16 peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025. Articles were identified through searches in Google Scholar, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Emerald Insight, SpringerLink, and Wiley Online Library using predefined keywords related to training, development, motivation, and Human Resource Management. The selected studies were screened based on relevance, publication quality, and alignment with the study objectives, and subsequently analyzed using thematic synthesis. The findings indicate that HR training and development positively influence employee motivation by strengthening Herzberg’s motivator factors, including achievement, recognition, responsibility, career advancement, and personal growth, while also improving hygiene factors such as supervision quality, working conditions, and organizational policy clarity. The review further identifies perceived organizational support, self-efficacy, organizational commitment, and management support as important mediating and moderating factors that influence the effectiveness of training initiatives. The novelty of this study lies in its integration of contemporary Human Resource Management literature with Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory to provide a comprehensive explanation of how training and development shape employee motivation in modern organizations. The findings contribute to the advancement of HRM theory by offering an integrated conceptual understanding of the training–motivation relationship. Practically, the study suggests that HR managers should design continuous training, coaching, mentoring, and career development programs that not only enhance employee competencies but also foster sustainable motivation, engagement, and organizational commitment.

Abstract

The growth of digital media has transformed the way individuals access information, share experiences, and engage in discussions related to self-development and career growth. Among various digital platforms, YouTube podcasts have emerged as popular sources of informal learning and personal reflection. This study explored audience perspectives on self-development and career growth through comments posted on the SUARA BERKELAS podcast on YouTube. The data consisted of 704 audience comments collected using a web scraping technique. Text preprocessing was conducted through case folding, cleaning, tokenization, and stopword removal. Subsequently, bigram analysis and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling were applied to identify dominant discussion themes. The findings reveal five major themes: social reflection and national issues, life aspirations and future goals, youth self-development, motivation and life struggles, and concerns about the future. These themes indicate that audiences perceive the podcast not only as a source of entertainment but also as a medium for learning, self-reflection, and career development. The coherence score of 0.44 suggests that the topic model demonstrates acceptable consistency in representing audience discussions. This study highlights the role of digital podcasts in shaping audience perspectives on personal growth and career-related issues in contemporary society.

Abstract

This study describes the return performance of selected healthcare stocks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the post-pandemic period. Using a quantitative descriptive design, monthly stock returns were calculated from closing prices for January 2021 to December 2025 and analyzed using mean, minimum, maximum, standard deviation, and cumulative return. The sample consists of eight healthcare-related firms representing pharmaceuticals, herbal and consumer health products, hospitals, and diagnostic services: KLBF, SIDO, TSPC, MIKA, HEAL, SILO, PRDA, and SAME. The results show heterogeneous return characteristics across firms. SILO records the highest mean monthly return at 3.00%, followed by SAME at 1.91%, HEAL at 1.56%, and TSPC at 1.34%. In contrast, SIDO and KLBF show negative average returns, while MIKA is nearly neutral. Risk dispersion is also evident: SAME, PRDA, and SILO exhibit the highest standard deviations, whereas TSPC records the lowest volatility. These findings indicate that healthcare stocks retain defensive relevance after the pandemic but are not homogeneous in risk-return behavior. The study provides an empirical descriptive profile for investors and academics without making causal claims.

Abstract

The digital economy era has transformed higher education by increasing the demand for adaptive, technology-oriented, and highly competent human resources. This transformation requires not only technological readiness but also psychological preparedness among students as a future talent pool. This study examines the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its relationship with students’ learning motivation from a Human Resource Management (HRM) perspective in the digital economy era. The study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method, synthesizing findings from seven relevant scholarly articles published between 2025 and 2026. The reviewed literature consistently indicates that the combined influence of AI utilization and learning motivation is positively associated with improvements in students’ academic performance. Several studies highlight that students who effectively utilize AI tools and demonstrate strong learning motivation tend to achieve better academic outcomes, enhanced learning efficiency, and greater readiness for future workforce demands. AI functions as an effective cognitive support tool by personalizing learning materials, enhancing learning efficiency, and fostering creativity. However, the literature also highlights the potential risk of digital dependency when AI adoption is not accompanied by intrinsic motivation to acquire knowledge. Therefore, learning motivation plays a crucial mediating role in maintaining academic integrity and promoting meaningful learning. From a human capital development perspective, higher education institutions serve as the primary source of future talent for organizations operating in the digital economy. Students who demonstrate strong learning motivation and AI proficiency are more likely to adapt quickly and perform effectively in the labor market. The findings suggest that the integration of AI technology with effective motivation management is essential for developing agile, adaptive, and competent human capital. Consequently, universities should promote responsible AI adoption while strengthening students’ intrinsic motivation to support sustainable learning outcomes, workforce readiness, and long-term organizational competitiveness in the era of digital economic transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe human resource competence in financial management among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) actors in Makassar City. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed using a structured questionnaire distributed to MSME owners and managers who were directly involved in managing business finances. The research instrument measured eight indicators of financial management competence, namely knowledge of business financial management, ability to record financial transactions, ability to prepare financial planning, cash-flow management skills, ability to control business expenditures, discipline in managing business finances, responsibility for financial decision-making, and willingness to improve financial management competence. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean score, and category interpretation. The validity and reliability tests confirmed that all questionnaire items were valid and reliable. The findings show that MSME actors in Makassar City generally have a high level of perceived competence in financial management. The strongest aspects were willingness to improve financial management competence and responsibility for financial decision-making, indicating positive learning orientation and financial accountability among MSME actors. However, financial planning and cash-flow management require further strengthening. The study implies that MSME development programs should focus not only on general financial literacy, but also on practical training in bookkeeping, cash-flow planning, budgeting, expenditure control, and simple digital financial applications.

Abstract

Seafarers sustain global maritime logistics, yet they work in isolated, mobile, and safety-critical environments where fatigue, long working hours, psychosocial stress, limited access to medical support, and exposure to physical hazards remain persistent occupational risks. This systematic literature review synthesizes recent evidence on occupational health and safety (OHS) among seafarers through the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) Theory from a Human Resource Management (HRM) perspective. Following PRISMA 2020 principles, the review mapped peer-reviewed studies, official reports, and selected credible sources published primarily between 2020 and 2026, while retaining seminal JD-R and maritime safety studies for theoretical grounding. The synthesis indicates that seafarers' OHS problems are not merely technical or regulatory issues; they are strategic HRM challenges shaped by the interaction between job demands and job resources. High workload, fatigue, isolation, sleep disruption, emotional demands, time pressure, and environmental hazards increase burnout, psychological strain, unsafe behavior, and accident risk. Conversely, safety leadership, organizational support, safety training, welfare facilities, autonomy, social support, communication, and safety climate function as protective resources that reduce strain and enhance engagement, safety behavior, and retention intention. The review contributes by integrating maritime OHS, employee well-being, and safety performance within a JD-R framework. It offers a conceptual model for future empirical testing using SEM, PLS-SEM, or AMOS and provides practical recommendations for shipping companies, HR managers, ship leaders, regulators, and maritime training institutions.
