Abstract

Productivity improvement in manufacturing systems requires systematic identification and elimination of waste, particularly in bottleneck processes. This study was conducted at PT XYZ, an automotive component manufacturer experiencing low productivity in the CCB part production line. The milling process was identified as the primary bottleneck, with an initial cycle time of 472 seconds for 6 pieces and an average output of 550 pcs/day, achieving only 75.6% of the production target. This research aims to identify the causes of waste, reduce cycle time in the milling process, and increase production output in line with management targets. The study applies Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to analyze material and information flow, Process Activity Mapping (PAM) to classify internal and external activities, and the Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) method to minimize setup time. Improvements were implemented using the PDCA (Plan–Do–Check–Act) cycle. Root cause analysis using fishbone and 5W+1H identified manual clamping operations as the main contributor to excessive internal time and variability. A semi-automatic pneumatic clamping system was introduced to replace manual bolt tightening and clamp handling. The results show a reduction in internal setup activities from 12 to 9 activities and a decrease in cycle time from 472 seconds to 425 seconds (9.9%). Consequently, daily production output increased from 550 pcs/day to 652 pcs/day, representing an 18.5% productivity improvement and exceeding the initial 10% target. The findings confirm that integrating VSM and SMED with semi-automation effectively enhances operational performance without full-scale automation investment.

Abstract

This research aims to redesign the design of raw material storage rooms to improve efficiency in material storage and retrieval at PT. Bonecom Tricom. The problems found include limited storage space capacity for raw materials which causes the utilization of warehouse areas to be less than optimal, storage layouts that have not been effectively organized so as to hinder the process of finding and retrieving materials, and the use of forklifts that interfere with the smooth flow of materials. This condition results in an increase in material transfer distance, longer handling time, and decreased warehouse operational efficiency. The method applied in this study is descriptive, with data collection techniques through direct observation, interviews, and secondary data documentation studies. The data collected includes the arrangement of existing facilities, the distance between work areas, the movement of raw materials, and the size and location of each facility. In the layout redesign, the Fixed Storage method was applied, which was based on the analysis of the throughput ratio as well as the space requirements for each product. At the end of this study, it is hoped that it can provide suggestions for improvements to the layout system that will optimize the use of space and smooth the flow of materials in the warehouse.

Abstract

UMKM Praja Welding merupakan usaha yang bergerak pada bidang fabrikasi dan pengelasan logam yang memiliki berbagai potensi bahaya pada setiap aktivitas produksinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bahaya, menilai tingkat risiko kecelakaan kerja, serta memberikan rekomendasi pengendalian risiko menggunakan metode Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC). Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi pada proses cutting, welding, grinding, dan drilling. Hasil identifikasi menunjukkan adanya berbagai potensi bahaya seperti percikan api, serpihan logam, radiasi sinar las, asap las, material panas, kebisingan, dan sengatan listrik. Hasil penilaian risiko menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar potensi bahaya berada pada kategori high risk dan extreme risk, terutama pada proses welding dan cutting. Risiko tertinggi ditemukan pada percikan las dan paparan asap las yang dapat menyebabkan luka bakar dan gangguan pernapasan. Upaya pengendalian risiko dilakukan melalui rekayasa teknik, pengendalian administratif, dan penggunaan alat pelindung diri. Penerapan pengendalian tersebut diharapkan mampu menurunkan tingkat risiko kecelakaan kerja serta meningkatkan keselamatan dan kesehatan pekerja pada UMKM Praja Welding.

Abstract

Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) merupakan pedoman yang berperan dalam menjamin keamanan, mutu, dan higienitas pangan pada setiap tahapan proses produksi. Penerapan GMP menjadi aspek yang sangat diperlukan pada Program Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) mengingat tingginya risiko kontaminasi pangan yang dapat menyebabkan kejadian luar biasa (KLB) keracunan makanan apabila standar keamanan pangan tidak diterapkan secara konsisten. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis tingkat penerapan GMP pada Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) Cileungsi, Kabupaten Bogor, serta mengidentifikasi akar penyebab ketidaksesuaian menggunakan metode 5W+1H untuk menyusun rekomendasi perbaikan. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan studi literatur, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan tahapan reduksi data, interpretasi, evaluasi, serta analisis 5W+1H. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar aspek GMP telah diterapkan dengan baik, namun masih ditemukan ketidaksesuaian pada kondisi bangunan, fasilitas sanitasi, higiene penjamah makanan, pemeliharaan peralatan, dan pengendalian proses produksi. Analisis 5W+1H menunjukkan bahwa permasalahan dipengaruhi oleh keterbatasan fasilitas, belum optimalnya penerapan prosedur operasional, serta kurangnya pengawasan dan kedisiplinan tenaga kerja. Penerapan rekomendasi perbaikan diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kepatuhan terhadap standar GMP, memperkuat keamanan pangan, meningkatkan efisiensi proses produksi, serta mendukung keberhasilan Program Makan Bergizi Gratis secara berkelanjutan

Abstract

The hospitality industry faces increasing demands for service quality improvement due to customer expectations for fast, consistent, and high-quality services. The housekeeping department has an important role in maintaining guest satisfaction because it is directly related to room cleanliness, comfort, and readiness. This study aims to analyze waste in the housekeeping service process and formulate improvement recommendations using the Lean Service approach at PT XYZ. This research used a descriptive qualitative method with data collection conducted through observations of Room Attendant activities, interviews with housekeeping staff and supervisors, and work process documentation. The analysis was carried out using process mapping, classification of value added, necessary non value added, and non value added activities, waste identification, and fishbone diagrams. The results showed that the housekeeping process still contained several main wastes, including waiting due to limited linen availability, unnecessary motion caused by searching for equipment, transportation due to movement to storage areas, and overprocessing caused by repeated activities. The discussion indicated that these wastes were influenced by human factors, work methods, materials, and work environment, requiring improvements through trolley standardization, linen management, and staff competency development. This study concludes that the Lean Service approach can improve the effectiveness of housekeeping work processes and support the enhancement of hotel service quality.

Abstract

Competition in the manufacturing industry encourages companies to improve efficiency, productivity, and the smoothness of material flow. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Karakuri Kaizen in reducing waste in the material handling process on the die casting production line of PT AXZ. The material used to develop this article was taken from a thesis document containing the background, theoretical basis, methods, observation results, line balancing, a comparison of touching before and after improvement, and the bibliography. The research method used an applied approach with a quantitative descriptive design through field observation, interviews, documentation, literature study, work-time measurement, and before-after analysis. The results show that layout improvement and the use of the Karakuri Kaizen mechanism were able to reduce transportation and motion waste. The number of touches decreased from 17 times to 7 times, material handling cycle time became approximately 1 minute faster, CT irregular MP lastman improved by about 0.7 seconds, and manpower requirements were reduced from 4 operators to 3 operators. Line efficiency remained in a safe condition at 84.5% because the 60-second cycle time was still below the 71-second takt time. Thus, Karakuri Kaizen effectively supports a leaner, more ergonomic, and more productive production process without increasing electrical energy consumption.
