Abstract

A recent investigation revealed that a considerable quantity of tomato sauce remains in circulation that is unhygienic and poses a significant health risk when consumed. It is therefore necessary to conduct this research in order to ascertain the characteristics of the fungi found in tomato sauce consumed by the public. This research was conducted in the Lapangan Tugu Kopelma Darussalam area of Banda Aceh with the objective of identifying and analysing the characteristics of the fungi found in tomato sauce used in food in the Lapangan Tugu Kopelma Darussalam area. Furthermore, the results of the feasibility test, which were generated as a consequence of this research, are to be reviewed as a reference for mycology courses. This research employs a quantitative descriptive methodology. The sample for this study was tomato sauce used in fried egg rolls, fried potatoes and batagor in the Lapangan Tugu Kopelma Darussalam area of Banda Aceh. A descriptive analysis of the data pertaining to the types and characteristics of fungi was conducted. The research yielded six fungal species found in tomato sauce used in food in the Lapangan Tugu Kopelma Darussalam area: Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus niger, Penicilium sp., Geotrichum candidum, Aspergillus sp. and Curvularia sp. The fungal species were differentiated based on macroscopic characteristics, namely colony shape, colony colour and conidia. In contrast, the microscopic characteristics encompass the positioning of the conidia, the morphology of the conidia, the conidiophores and the fungal vesicles.

Abstract

Vitamin E is one of type vitamin that is ideal to increase the reproductive function. Vitamin E has the ability to maintain fertility which related to the production of testosterone hormone. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of vitamin E in various dosages to testosterone levels contained in the blood serum samples of local cocks (Gallus domestica). Samples of local cocks which given supplementation with vitamin E dosages of 0 mg (P0), 10 mg (P1), 20 mg (P2) dan 30 mg (P3). The collected data were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with a 95%, followed by Duncan's multiple range test. The examination of testosterone levels in this research used Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) test. The result showed that testosterone significantly different among P0, P1, P2 dan P3. Highest testosterone levels obtained from P3 (12,32±1,52 ng/ml), followed by P2 (7,85±1,21 ng/ml), , P1 (5,04±0,7 ng/ml) and P0 (3,63±0,49 ng/ml), respectively. This result suggests that higher doses of vitamin E supplements in feed can elevate testosterone levels in local cocks (Gallus domestica). The P3 treatment, with a dosage of 30 mg of vitamin E, is the most effective in boosting testosterone levels in local cocks.
