Abstract

This study aims to synthesize carbon dots (C-dots) from papaya peel using the oven heating method and to examine their effect on spinach growth. The synthesis process involved carbonization, grinding, dissolution, and filtration to obtain a clear C-dots solution. UV light testing showed fluorescence emission, indicating the formation of carbon nanoparticles. C-dots were applied at concentrations of 0.5 g/L and 1 g/L, with distilled water as the control. Plant growth was observed through plant height for seven days. The results showed that C-dots improved plant growth compared to the control. The 1 g/L concentration was more effective in the early phase, while 0.5 g/L showed more stable effects in the later phase. These findings indicate the potential of C-dots as an environmentally friendly nanotechnology-based plant growth enhancer. Further research is recommended to explore other concentrations and growth parameters.

Abstract

This study aims to explore high school students' understanding of Newton's laws of motion. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, with data collection through a two-tier diagnostic test. The instrument not only measures correct answers but also explores the reasons behind students' choices. Data analysis was conducted by dividing students' understanding into four categories: (1) Understanding the concept; (2) Misconception; (3) Not understanding the concept; and (4) Guessing. The results showed that students understood the concept of changes in velocity due to changes in the direction of force, with 56.2% of students understanding the concept. The largest misconception was found in the subtopic of Newton's Third Law, which reached 68.5%. Meanwhile, the percentage of students who did not understand the concept was lower than that of students who had misconceptions in all subtopics. These findings confirm that the majority of students did not understand the concept, but had initial understandings that were unscientific or inappropriate. Therefore, teachers need to prepare learning strategies that are not only informative but also reinforce concepts.

Abstract

Abstract

The high epidemiological burden of dengue fever in Tangerang Regency, a densely populated lowland area in Banten, provided the background for this study. Its primary objective was to describe climate fluctuations and analyze the partial relationships between temperature, humidity, and rainfall and dengue fever cases using secondary data from 2020 to 2024. The method combines physical descriptive analysis and Spearman’s rank correlation test. Visualization results show an optimal physical equilibrium in 2024 that triggered the highest spike in cases (5,088). Temperature showed a weak negative correlation (–0.300), humidity a strong positive correlation (0.600), and rainfall a very strong positive correlation (0.700), although sample limitations resulted in formal non-significance (p > 0.05). Physically, rainfall provides breeding sites for larvae, while humidity extends the lifespan of the vector; however, extreme rainfall triggers a mechanical flushing effect. These findings emphasize the need for public health agencies to incorporate rainfall and humidity indicators into early warning systems to strengthen preventive mitigation measures ahead of the peak of the transmission season.
