Abstract

This study demonstrates how identifying and developing marketing strategies for whiteleg shrimp farmers in Pematang Guntung Village is crucial, and the identification of appropriate marketing channels is crucial. This study is expected to formulate external and internal factors that can be used to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and recommend more effective marketing strategies, enabling farmers to increase income and obtain certainty about selling prices. The subjects of this study were six whiteleg shrimp farmers in Pematang Guntung Village, Teluk Mengkudu District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The sampling technique used was a purposive sample with data collection using a questionnaire. This study uses a SWOT analysis which is an analysis to systematically identify various factors to formulate the right strategy in the cultivation of whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). The results of the study state that the Internal factors used to see strengths are: 1). Getting assistance from the government, 2). The ordered shrimp are in accordance with consumer demand, 3). Adequate facilities and infrastructure, 4). Having a skilled, experienced and highly dedicated workforce, 5). Easy to get seeds and which are used to see weaknesses: 1). The product has not met customer demand, 2). Product promotion does not use media, 3). Unable to fulfill shrimp orders quickly, 4). The product is not durable, 5). Lack of technology that can support whiteleg shrimp cultivation. External Factors used to see Opportunities: 1). Many people interested in vannamei shrimp in the market, 2). Having a relatively high selling price, 3). Big business opportunities, 4). Technological improvements that can increase production, 5). Government policies that support and are used to see Threats: 1). A lot of competition in selling vannamei shrimp, 2). Not all of the released shrimp fry can develop well, 3). Consumer orders are not always fulfilled, 4). Lack of interest of the younger generation to cultivate vannamei shrimp, 5). Pest and disease attacks. Based on the SWOT analysis diagram that explains the external and internal factors in cell (quadrant) I shows the SO (Strength-Oppourtunities or Strengths and Opportunities) strategy, namely marketing shrimp by calculating production costs and looking at market prices. Collaborating with potential customers. Increasing the use of technology in an effort to increase production and in the SWOT matrix, namely supporting an aggressive strategy. This strategy explains that the strategy is very profitable for the business because it has opportunities and strengths in business progress, especially the vaname shrimp farming business in Pematang Guntung Village, Teluk Mengkudu District, Serdang Bedagai Regency.

Abstract

Limbah kelapa sawit merupakan hasil samping pertanian yang melimpah namun belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal di Kelurahan Sidomulyo Kecamatan Tuntungan Kota Medan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat melalui pemanfaatan limbah pertanian (seperti pelepah kelapa sawit dan tempurung kelapa) menjadi produk bernilai ekonomis. Pelatihan ini membekali petani dengan keterampilan pengelolaan keuangan bisnis agar usaha mandiri dan berkelanjutan serta sebagai solusi energi alternatif sekaligus sumber pendapatan tambahan. Selain itu, kegiatan ini dilengkapi dengan edukasi pencatatan keuangan sederhana dan strategi pemasaran produk. Kegiatan berlangsung selama 1 bulan dengan 4 kali periode pendampingan dengan melibatkan 20 peserta dari kalangan Ibu rumah tangga dan petani di Kelurahan Sidomulyo. Program ini dilaksanakan melalui lima tahapan, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, evaluasi, umpan balik, dan keberlanjutan program. Pelatihan dan pendampingan dilakukan secara partisipatif, di mana peserta terlibat langsung dalam seluruh proses produksi dan diskusi terbuka.  Pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan bersama dengan kelompok mitra yaitu UMKM Koptan Harapan Tani selaku UMKM binaan Yayasan Rumah Briket Medan. Dari kegiatan PKM yang dilakukan oleh tim pelaksana kegiatan PKM UMN Al-Washliyah dapat disimpulkan beberapa hal sebagai berikut hasil program menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta terhadap pemanfaatan limbah pelepah kelapa sawit dan pengelolaan keuangan setelah mengikuti sesi pelatihan. Program ini membuktikan bahwa pemanfaatan limbah pertanian tidak hanya berdampak positif bagi lingkungan, tetapi juga bisa menjadi peluang ekonomi baru bagi masyarakat Kelurahan Sidomulyo Kecamatan Tuntungan Kota Medan.

Abstract

This research demonstrates the importance of identifying and developing food crop agribusiness, particularly lowland rice, in Indonesia and Malaysia. It is hoped that this research will formulate a model for developing food crop agribusiness in Indonesia and Malaysia. The research subjects were 60 respondents of rice paddy farmers consisting of 30 respondents of rice paddy farmers in Indonesia and 30 respondents of rice paddy farmers in Malaysia and registered in farmer groups, which became the object of research, namely the appropriate strategies and models in developing food crop agribusiness. Data Analysis Method To analyze the problems studied using descriptive analysis, namely providing clear and in-depth problem information interpreted according to the results of the research conducted based on theoretical support related to the research object to measure farmer perceptions by analyzing using the Likert scale method. Farmer groups in the research area not only serve as a forum for improving the quality and quantity of production, but also as a channel for introducing the latest technology, expanding market access, and improving farmer welfare through collective marketing and economic empowerment. From the Index Score obtained, there is a comparison of agricultural institutional models between Indonesia and Malaysia. From the benchmark of farmer group institutional activity, the farming subsystem (on-farm), Indonesia is higher than Malaysia. From the benchmark of production facility subsystem (Upstream), marketing & processing system (Downstream), supporting service subsystem, Malaysia is higher than Indonesia, while inhibiting factors and potential for farmer institutional development between Indonesia and Malaysia still need to be improved again so that farmers are more prosperous. In general, Malaysian agricultural institutions are more supportive in the development of food crop agribusiness than Indonesia with a score difference of 3.9%. With an index score of 73.4% higher than Indonesia's 69.5%, it shows the adoption of agricultural technology and more equitable irrigation infrastructure that ensures a more stable water supply, so that the average yield per hectare is maximized. Higher levels of use of modern agricultural mechanization (such as combine harvesters and monitoring drones) and large-scale commercial land management are more dominant in Malaysia. Farmer groups in the research area not only serve as a forum for improving the quality and quantity of production, but also as a channel for introducing the latest technology, expanding market access, and improving farmer welfare through collective marketing and economic empowerment.
