Abstract

Education is a fundamental pillar in shaping a superior and character-driven generation, with boarding schools providing a unique 24-hour integrated learning and living environment that acts in loco parentis. This study examines the implementation of service quality in Islamic boarding schools in the Riau Islands Province and its influence on academic achievement, focusing on SMPIT Assakinah Tanjung Pinang, SMPS Al-Himmah Karimun, and SMP BP Tahfidz Attaubah Batam. Service quality in this context is defined as a student-centered paradigm that integrates academic, pastoral, and social dimensions. Drawing on perspectives from Crosby, Sallis, and Brewster, quality is measured by responsiveness to needs, continuous improvement, and the integration of academic rigor, pastoral care, and co-curricular enrichment. Academic achievement, as described by Bloom, is shaped by cognitive, affective, and environmental factors, where the structured environment of boarding schools can maximize outcomes. This research employed a qualitative case study approach with data gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation, analyzed using an interactive model. Findings reveal that service quality is implemented through four stages: (1) conceptualization with a vision integrating national and diniyah curricula; (2) implementation involving active learning, dormitory services, extracurricular programs, and Islamic character building; (3) improvement via SWOT-based evaluation, facility upgrades, teacher development, and digitalization; and (4) continuous evaluation for relevance and effectiveness. The study concludes that comprehensive, integrated service quality is a decisive factor for success in boarding schools. Effective service quality fosters both academic achievement and the development of religious, independent, and morally sound students. By applying Total Quality Management principles, Islamic boarding schools can establish an optimal educational ecosystem, producing a superior and globally competitive generation rooted in Islamic values.

Abstract

This paper discusses in depth about the functions of management, namely planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling abbreviated as POAC. The method used is literature study and document analysis to obtain theories or writings related to it. The result of this paper is that Management is both a science and an art, meaning that management in its implementation must always consider the appropriate situation and conditions with the specified goals. Therefore, management has various functions that must be understood in a complete and comprehensive manner. Based on the management process as stated by the experts, the management experts of the present era abstract it into 4 processes, namely planning, organizing, actuating, controlling (POAC). The planning function begins with the mechanism of determining the direction and goals to be achieved. The implementation function is carried out by dividing tasks, responsibilities, connecting and unifying tasks and functions within the organization or institution. The supervision function is carried out by controlling the quantity and quality of work results through measurement and assessment systems.

Abstract

Research on holiday meetups is an effort to predict exchanges, conversions, or misunderstandings. However, in order to achieve accurate results, the research setup must use an appropriate approach. The determination of the approach to be used is highly dependent on the researcher's adopted paradigm. This paper discusses the concepts of research paradigms as a foundation for understanding three types of research approaches: quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approach.Research that follows the positivism paradigm emphasizes objectivity, while qualitative research represents a naturalistic (phenomenological) approach. The separation between quantitative and qualitative research should not be mixed, but this understanding is often misunderstood by researchers who argue that each approach has its own weaknesses and therefore combining them would enhance the research. The reason for choosing these research approaches is that both types of approaches complement and strengthen each other, resulting in not only objective, structured, and measurable research outcomes, but also in-depth and factual research results.

Abstract

The development of the ability to build future school leadership orientation is necessary, as this educational system must be in line with the relevance of needs and demands of the times. This is exemplified by the head of SMPN 9 Muaro Jambi by developing the teachers themselves according to their needs and demands. This qualitative research focuses on the subject of the study, which is the head of the school, deputy head, and teachers. Data collection was done through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and data conclusion. The results of the study show that the development of teachers conducted by the head of SMPN 9 Muaro Jambi is done independently and professionally, with strong management skills, decision-making abilities, and potential for improving teacher quality. The development of teachers is carried out through participation in activities such as the Musyavarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (M(CMP) Kabupaten), becoming a Guru Penggerak or Pengair Praktek (PP), attending training on teaching platforms (PMM), forming learning communities in schools (KOMBHL), and participating in the local facilitation program (FASDA) conducted by the Tanoto Foundation.
