Abstract

AbstractThis study examines the role of work-life balance in enhancing organizational commitment among Generation Z employees. Generation Z is characterized by strong preferences for flexibility, digital integration, and a balanced lifestyle, making work-life balance a critical factor in shaping their attitudes toward organizations. The objective of this research is to analyze how work-life balance influences organizational commitment, particularly in terms of affective, continuance, and normative commitment among Generation Z workers. This study adopts a qualitative-descriptive approach based on literature review by analyzing relevant academic journals, books, and empirical studies related to work-life balance and organizational commitment. The findings indicate that effective work-life balance practices, such as flexible working hours, remote work options, supportive leadership, and mental well-being programs, significantly contribute to increasing employee satisfaction and reducing work-related stress. These conditions ultimately strengthen employees’ emotional attachment and loyalty to the organization. The results further reveal that Generation Z employees are more likely to remain committed to organizations that acknowledge their personal needs and provide a healthy integration between work and life. Conversely, poor work-life balance tends to increase turnover intention and reduce engagement levels. Therefore, organizations that prioritize work-life balance are more successful in retaining young talent and building long-term commitment. In conclusion, work-life balance is a key determinant of organizational commitment among Generation Z. Organizations are encouraged to adopt adaptive and employee-centered policies to enhance commitment and sustain workforce stability in the evolving labor market.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Agricultural Technology (AgriTech) in driving rural transformation and evaluates the extent to which technological innovation can achieve a balance between efficiency and equity within smallholder farming systems. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive-exploratory design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis involving 25 purposively selected respondents, comprising smallholder farmers, agricultural extension workers, AgriTech practitioners, and local government representatives. The findings reveal that AgriTech adoption significantly enhances productivity, optimizes resource utilization, and expands market access for smallholder farmers. Nevertheless, the overall adoption rate remains low due to structural constraints, including limited digital literacy, inadequate rural infrastructure, and prohibitive technology costs. Furthermore, the study identifies an emerging disparity in the distribution of technological benefits, indicating that without deliberate inclusive strategies, digital transformation may exacerbate existing socioeconomic inequalities in the agricultural sector. These findings underscore that sustainable agricultural transformation requires not only technological innovation, but also equitable access, enhanced human resource capacity, and evidence-based policy frameworks. This study contributes to the growing literature on AgriTech by integrating the dual dimensions of innovation efficiency and social equity, offering both theoretical enrichment and practical policy implications for inclusive agricultural development.

Abstract

This study explores the contested dynamics of land grabbing, customary land rights, and environmental degradation in Eastern Indonesia, with a case study focused on Merauke Regency, Papua Province. Utilizing a qualitative political ecology approach, the research combines in-depth interviews, employee questionnaires, field observations, and document analysis to examine how corporate concessions intersect with indigenous territories. The findings reveal systemic exclusion of indigenous communities in land acquisition processes, characterized by weak consultation, disregard for customary tenure, and the erosion of traditional livelihoods. Although companies assert legal compliance, the affected communities report significant loss of access to sacred lands, environmental decline, and cultural displacement. Notably, 90% of plantation workers surveyed recognized the negative impact on indigenous livelihoods, while only 25% believed local communities were included in decision-making. These results highlight the political nature of environmental change and demonstrate how land commodification undermines ecological integrity and indigenous sovereignty. The study contributes to political ecology discourse by documenting spatial injustice and calling for policy reforms that recognize customary land rights and support inclusive development.

Abstract

This study investigates the synthesis of geopolymer materials derived from Indonesian coal fly ash as a sustainable alternative to conventional cement. The research aims to optimize geopolymer synthesis parameters and evaluate the environmental performance of the resulting material. Using a laboratory experimental approach supported by qualitative analysis, the study examined the effects of key parameters including alkali activator concentration, Si/Al ratio, and curing temperature on geopolymer formation. Experimental observations and supporting expert insights indicated that optimal geopolymerization occurred at an activator concentration of 10–12 M NaOH, a Si/Al ratio of approximately 2.0–2.5, and a curing temperature of around 60°C, producing dense and structurally stable materials. Environmental characterization revealed that heavy-metal leaching levels of Pb, Cd, and Cr were significantly below regulatory thresholds, indicating strong immobilization within the geopolymeric matrix. In addition, the utilization of coal fly ash contributes to reducing industrial waste accumulation and lowering carbon emissions associated with cement production. These findings demonstrate that coal-fly-ash–based geopolymers possess strong potential as sustainable construction materials. However, large-scale implementation requires standardized technical guidelines, supportive regulatory frameworks, and collaboration between research institutions and industry stakeholders.
