Abstract

Abstract

Leadership plays a crucial role in managing curriculum change, particularly in Islamic educational institutions that must balance national curriculum demands with their Islamic identity. This study aims to describe the role of principal leadership in managing the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at MTs Nurul Huda Dau Malang. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive model, while validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal four main themes: principal leadership based on family values, visionary, and transparent; tiered socialization from supervisors to teachers coordinated by the vice principal without a dedicated team; P5 implementation with entrepreneurship and diversity themes that increased student creativity and self-confidence; and mandatory teacher training twice a year with monthly learning evaluations. This study concludes that adaptive and value-based principal leadership is the main foundation for the success of Merdeka Curriculum change management in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Improving the quality of learning in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) still faces various challenges, particularly teachers' limited ability to independently develop pedagogical competence and the high administrative burden on school principals. This study aims to analyze the implementation of clinical supervision in improving learning quality at MI KH Hasyim Asy'ari, covering supervision practices, approaches, functions, obstacles, and effectiveness evaluation. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal and teachers, direct observation of supervision activities, and documentation study of supervision instruments and records. The results show that clinical supervision at MI KH Hasyim Asy'ari is conducted on a scheduled basis through three stages: pre-observation, classroom observation, and post-observation with direct and personal feedback. Clinical supervision has proven effective in improving teachers' pedagogical, professional, and social competencies. However, inconsistencies in follow-up actions were found, along with a generational gap between senior teachers and Gen Z teachers that creates communication barriers in the supervision process. In conclusion, clinical supervision implemented in a planned, humanistic, and sustainable manner is effective in improving learning quality at the madrasah, although more adaptive cross-generational communication strategies are needed to ensure equitable supervision for all teachers.

Abstract

Change management based on technology integration in Islamic education is an important strategy in responding to contemporary development dynamics, particularly in the kitab kuning learning system in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Empirical evidence shows that the dominance of traditional teaching methods remains an obstacle in optimizing the effectiveness of the learning system and students’ understanding of the material. Therefore, a planned change process is needed through a change management approach to integrate technology effectively into the learning system. This study aims to examine how technology-based change management can improve the effectiveness of the kitab kuning learning system at Darun Nun Islamic Boarding School, Malang. The novelty of this research lies in applying change management principles that combine traditional learning methods with digital technology as a strategy to enhance the quality of the pesantren learning system. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the use of technology such as projectors can increase student participation, clarify material delivery, and create a more interactive learning system. In addition, gradual implementation of change can minimize resistance to innovation. However, challenges remain, including limited infrastructure and human resource readiness to support technology integration. This study contributes to developing an adaptive, integrative, and sustainable pesantren learning system model.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the implementation of technology-based change management as a pedagogical innovation in the learning process at SDN Merjosari 3 Malang. The study’s background stems from developments in science and technology that require schools to adjust their teaching practices to become more effective, innovative, and relevant to 21st-century educational needs. The research used a qualitative approach with interviews, observations, and documentation involving educators directly engaged in implementing learning technologies. Findings indicate that technology was applied through the use of LCDs, Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs), digital learning platforms, Google Forms, and internet-based media in teaching and learning activities. The learning model, which previously relied heavily on lectures and textbooks, has shifted toward a more interactive, visual approach that fosters students’ critical thinking skills. The school also supported this change through teacher training, provision of technological facilities, and collaboration with parents and other stakeholders. Although challenges such as limited internet connectivity and power supply exist, the use of technology has been shown to help students grasp learning materials more quickly. Thus, technology-based change management successfully introduced pedagogical innovations that improved the effectiveness and quality of elementary-level learning.
